Chapter 120: Chapter 120 The Party Has Started

"Expert with women? Of course. Women are always trying to date me, but I’ve only dated three of them in my lifetime and it always lasted more than six months."

"That’s even longer than some people’s marriages these days. And it’s a million times longer than normal relationships these..."

Jett’s impatiently eyed him making him clamp his mouth shut.

Sitting up properly, he leaned towards Jett in confusion, "What? What is it you want my help with?"

Jett got on his feet, transferring to the sofa opposite him to face Daniel properly.

Daniel raised a brow, seriously considering what was happening to be a dream.

His brother was always buried in work. Even while eating, he would be going through one document or the other.

But that workaholic was actually sitting across from him so eagerly to get answers on something that wasn’t related to work?

Never in a million years did Daniel think a day like this would come!

"Punk, did you hear a word I just said at all?"

He was drawn back to the present when Jett patted him impatiently.

"O-of course!"

A deep sigh escaped Jett’s lips as he continued saying worriedly, "So what could be the problem? My friend clearly made his intention known to that lady and even offered to buy her a car before asking her out on a date."

"But she didn’t say anything and just left. He even went after her asking what the problem was only to be treated coldly by her. Do you think he did something wrong along the way?"

Daniel pondered on what he had just heard for a moment before raising a questioning brow, "Your friend? When did you ever have a friend? Is this about you? Do you have a woman you’re interested in?"

The words were yet out of his mouth when Jett hurriedly got up on his feet, almost knocking over the coffee table in a rush.

"What? That’s absurd!"

Daniel was only speculating actually.

If his brother had any friend, the entire country would know that person.

But if it wasn’t a woman he was interested in, then it had really be a friend. As absurd as that sounded. And his brother wasn’t one to lie about. Talk less of lying about petty things like this.

"Tell me the truth, Jett. You don’t have any friends that I know of and I know everyone around..."

Jett quickly thought of a lie and interrupted him, "It’s Eric."

A gossipy and proud Daniel quickly leaned forward in disbelief.

"Eric? Your assistant? Eric Lance?"

Relieved that he bought the lie, Jett scoffed and turned his face to the side, feigning annoyance, "Why so many questions? Do you know any other Eric?"

"I’m just surprised. I’ve never seen him with a woman so I thought he’d die a celibate." Daniel snorted in defense.

Jett took his seat again. Crossing his leg on the other, he leaned back and murmured to Daniel’s hearing, "He asked me not to tell anyone, but you’ve made me tell you."

"If you know what’s good for you, don’t ask him about this and wait until he’s ready to tell you. A man who dropped his pride to propose to a woman, but ended up being rejected doesn’t want anyone to know who it."

"I may be many things, but I’m not a snitch. You have nothing to worry about." Daniel assured him then continued with his counseling, "How long did you say he has known this lady?"

Jett thought for a moment, "A little over a month."

Daniel massaged his beardless jaw with a thoughtful look in his eyes.

"It depends on the person. One month is too early to know a person. She may have been startled when he suddenly proposed to her."

"Thus, she was rendered speechless and had to distance herself from him so she’d have time to think of what she’d do."

"So you’re saying she freaked out?"

Daniel nodded.

"She may think he’s trying to play her or something. The next time she sees him, she’d prolly turn him down."

"That can’t happen... to him." Jett corrected himself almost immediately.

Seeing the agitation on his face, Daniel was a little confused and pursed his lips in suspicion.

"Hey, why are you so invested in what happens? If I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought you’re the one in question."

Jett huffed coldly, "Don’t be ridiculous. I’m only looking out for Eric. If he gets heartbroken, his quality of work will drop and make everything hard for me."

"I refuse to let something like that happen. So I’m invested in this problem even more than he is."

Daniel wouldn’t say he could relate since he didn’t have an assistant and didn’t know what it felt like.

But given the number of things he knew Eric was overseeing, it was easy for Jett to get rid of his suspicion with those words.

"I do have an advice to turn everything over. Instead of hounding her for an answer, he should take it one at a time."

"Since she’s not big on gift giving, he can start with the little things. Acts of services, affectionate words and quality time."

"Is that right? I’ll be sure to tell him this." Jett mummed and got on his feet.

He took a step forward and paused to glance back at Daniel.

"You know, if these don’t work, Eric will be too shy to come ask you for more advice. So I’ll be coming for it instead."

Daniel, who had already turned on his game, nodded distractedly, "Sure thing."

Then the man strolled to his room to search up the things Daniel had mentioned.

Three hours later, a knock sounded on the door, followed by Eric’s voice, "Mr. Adler, it’s almost time."

On their way to the party, he stopped by a plastic flower shop and bought every kind of flower inside.

Then he kept glancing at the flowers and smiling every ten seconds.

Eric worriedly watched him from the rear view mirror.

The party was a promotional stunt for the hospital, so they invited numerous reporters and paparazzis.

Naturally, everyone kept their cameras ready when they saw a car with the licence plate ’Adler’ pull in.

While they sighed in disappointment at the man alighting alone, a certain actress who was in the car right behind his was instantly overjoyed.

But the camera flashes instantly increased when Eric came out of the car cradling dozens of flowers.

From where everyone else stood, the flowers didn’t look like plastic at all.

Inside the car behind the actress’, an impatient Kelsie sat in the back passenger seat with Callum Shaw.
