Chapter 117: Chapter 117 Time To Prove To You I’m Not Into Men

Jett forced out a cough at this moment, drowning out the last part of the sentence.

Folding his arms across his chest, he threw a brief glance Kelsie’s way.

"Ms. Sutton, your husband is quite a talkative."

Kelsie sighed tiredly at the mention of ’husband’ again.

"Husband? Why are you bringing this up again, Mr. Adler?"

Jett clenched his jaw tightly, the urge to confirm if the man sitting beside her was really her husband surfacing.

But the next second, he shook the thought to the back of his mind.

Why ask again when he already knew the answer?

He clearly heard the little girl inside the apartment on floor 49 call Callum ’daddy’ yesterday.

Irritated that he was bothered by something like this, he gritted his teeth silently and got on his feet.

"I have work to complete at the office."

Without waiting another second, he began strutting towards the exit.

Behind him, Callum turned to Kelsie and beamed proudly.

"You know, Kelsie, he’s not the first person mistaking us as a married couple. The other day at the hospital, this nurse told me I have a beautiful wife."

"I was confused until she described you. Then I thought of something; I’m single you’re single, so what’s stopping us from getting married?"

"I like my men tall." Kelsie shook her head almost immediately.

"What? You mean 191cm is short for you?"

"Mhm."

"I heard men don’t stop growing until they’re 30. I’ll keep trying to put on height until then. Just marry me now and I promise to add more height before..."

A certain grumpy man who had gotten to the door heard their conversation and did a 180 degree turn. fre.eweb novel\.c om

Despite suppressing the urge to confirm, his tongue betrayed him as he voiced out the next second, "So you two aren’t married at all?"

Callum hummed, pointing at his finger, "I’d had a wedding ring on my finger if I was, Mr. Adler. We’d both have."

Jett’s eyes visibly lit up and his sour mood improved.

He even glanced at Callum as he sneered without hostility, "Married men and women take off their rings every now and then. It’s only right that I ask just to be sure."

Callum nodded in understanding, "I totally understand, Mr. Adler. I too have seen such happen a lot."

There was a brief silence before Kelsie scoffed at Jett, "Don’t you have work to finish at the office?"

"Why? Do I make you uncomfortable?"

"Didn’t you know?"

"How can I, a tall man, do that to you?"

"You’re into men. Why should I care about your height?"

Everyone paused.

Unable to restrain himself, Callum’a eyes darted to Jett whom he expected to be furious.

But to his surprise, the man was actually smiling.

And using his index fingers, Nicholas felt the insides of his ears in disbelief.

Right. He hadn’t cleaned his ears in a while. No wonder he misheard.

Like she hadn’t just said the most unhinged thing ever to a man like Jett Adler, Kelsie finally held up another royal blue dress.

"I like this one. What do you think about it, Callum?"

Callum cleared his throat noiselessly and leaned forward to feel the fabric.

"Excellent fabric and material."

After confirming she’d get it, he turned to the first salesperson, his eyes briefly sweeping over the second salesperson who was still kneeling.

"Get me the suits you have. A suit in royal blue."

As she brought the suits, as a friend of Callum’s, Nicholas couldn’t resist asking, "Are you two matching somewhere, Mr. Shaw?"

Callum hummed, "Haven Medical Center is hosting a party in a few hours. Kelsie is my date."

Almost immediately, the room’s temperature dropped a bit as Jett’s eyes clouded over again.

However, he said nothing.

An hour later, Nicholas finally found the perfect suit for him.

"Since this is your date’s first time shopping with us, this is on the store. Because you brought us a new customer, you don’t have to pay as well." Nicholas shook his head when Callum took out his card to pay.

It was at that moment that the hospital called, leaving him no choice, but to return immediately.

Kelsie got up as well and headed outside with her dress.

She had just slipped into the driver’s seat when the door of the front passenger’s seat was yanked open and Jett slid in.

Without sparing her a glance, he calmly fastened his seatbelt and leaned backward.

"What are you doing?"

The man stared at her, his brows raised questioningly, "What do you mean?"

"Why are you in my car when you have yours?"

"Because you’re my neighbor and I need a ride?"

"How did you get here? Go get in your car and have your assistant drive you."

"Do you think I’d be in this heating box of yours if I had that choice?"

"H-heating? Did you just call my car a heating box?"

"What? Would you rather I lie?" The man scoffed and leaned forward, pointing at the ceiling and entire structure of the vehicle, "Not only is it shaped like a box, it has no air conditioner."

Kelsie snorted, "I don’t turn on the air conditioner because it burns gas unnecessarily."

"Start turning it on then."

"Why?"

The man turned to face her properly.

"What do you mean? You’re my tenant and you rented the second most expensive apartment after mine, which automatically makes you my very important customer."

"I’m told you paid deposit for three years from now. If you suffocate in your car because of heat and suddenly decide to move out, the contract you signed says I’ll have to return at least half the money you paid as deposit."

"I have absolutely no intention of doing that. Which is why I’m looking out for you now so something like that doesn’t happen. Do you understand now?"

Kelsie didn’t find any sense in a word that rolled off his tongue, but she wanted this blabbing jerk out of her car.

See how he went as far as given her a reason she didn’t understand, trying to talk him out of leaving wasn’t going to do the trick.

"Where should I stop you? Or are you going back to the apartment building?"

The man balanced properly and took out his phone, saying, "An automobile showroom. Start driving, I’ll direct you until we get there."

Kelsie silently started the car and drove under his direction until they got to a certain The Car Gallery, an automobile showroom.

Seconds after she parked in the garage, the man refused to budge.

"What are you doing?"

"Come with me."

"Pardon?"

"As you know, my assistant isn’t with me today and I need fresh eyes in my purchase."

"What does that have to do with me?"

The man, who already expected the refusal, quickly suggested, "How about this, then? Come with me and I’ll take off 6 months worth of your rent off your payment when next you pay rent."

The words were yet out of his mouth when Kelsie whipped out her phone, opening her recording app.

"Go on. Repeat what you just said."

He stared at her face stoically, "What do you think of me? I’m a man of my words?"

She scoffed, "Three years is quite a long time. You are a powerful man with a group of lawyers backing you."

"If you renege on your words, I’ll have this recording to fall back on. Either repeat what you just said or get out of my car."

Jett sucked in a deep breathe, clicking his tongue in disbelief as he turned his face to the side.

But the moment she couldn’t see his face, a small smile creased the corners of his lips.

When he turned to her again, the smile was gone and he lowered his mouth to the mouthpiece with a serious look.

"Three years from now, I, Jett Adler, will remove 6 months’ rent from Kelsie Sutton’s rent of floor 49 of my apartment building."

Kelsie saved the recording immediately and alighted from the car with a satisfied look.

Hurrying to his side, she took a glance at the time and comforted herself inwardly.

She was sacrificing her sleep time because of this Jett Adler, but at least she had gotten half a year’s rent taken care of in the process.

"I have to go somewhere in a few hours. Let’s buy whatever you want quickly."

The man hummed in understanding, increasing his pace to match hers as they strolled into the showroom.

A salesperson approached them almost immediately and after showing them various types of cars, neither Jett nor Kelsie was satisfied.

"Is this all you have?" Jett asked after checking out the cars.

The salesperson’s eyes darted towards Kelsie’s car outside, looking a bit skeptical.

Jett followed his train of sight and almost laughed.

"She doesn’t really care about latest cars so she drives around in that."

Kelsie ignored the mockery in his tone and calmly waved her hand at the salesperson.

"We don’t have a lot of time to spare. Kindly show us your best cars."

The salesperson took another look at Jett, taking the leap of faith to lead them to another set of cars.

It took a few minutes of looking around before the duo found a car they both agreed with.

Jett stood behind Kelsie, hands buried in his pockets as she opened the car doors to inspect the interior.

A moment later, she exhaled in satisfaction, straightening up properly.

"I would say this is the best amongst the others we’ve come acr..."

The words instantly died in her throat, her eyes bulging slightly in confusion when the man suddenly leaned over and pinned her against the car.

"What are you doing?"

The corners of his lips hooked up into a wicked grin as he lowered his lips to her ear, his hot breath fanning the nape of her neck.

"Since you’ve proven you’re not married, It’s time to prove I’m not into men."
