Chapter 113: Chapter 113 Baby, I Want This Dress!

That night, Kelsie returned to her room after Callum Shaw left to see dozens of missed calls from Jerry Sutton.

She didn’t need a soothsayer to tell her why he was calling. Being sued by Jett Adler was sure to get anyone on edge.

Having no intention to answer the call, she silenced her phone and tossed it to the other side of the bed, far away from her.

The following morning, she drove the triplets to school and returned to the apartment building until it was time to go to Peterson’s Law Firm.

Peterson’s Law Firm, Managing Partner’s Office

A woman in her late 20s sat behind a desk, flipping through a case file.

A legal intern stood in front of her carrying a heavy stack of case files.

"Ms. Peterson, I stayed up all night reviewing case files from two decades ago related to our current case."

Jane Peterson didn’t stop to glance at him as she asked, "And?"

The intern hurriedly replied, "I found one where a man sued the country and won. The circumstances are strikingly similar to ours. If we cite it correctly, it could provide solid standing for our argument."

Jane was silent for a moment before she raised her eyes to look at him, nodding in acknowledgement.

"Run along then, we’d be going to court in a few hours. Have everything before then."

"Yes, ma’am." Then the intern left.

A minute later, a knock sounded on her door before her assistant pushed open the door and walked in.

"The person from yesterday is here to see you."

Jane paused, raising a surprised brow, "What person?"

The secretary froze, suddenly realizing it slipped her mind to tell her she had scheduled a meeting with someone the day before.

Lowering her eyes to the floor, she apologized regretfully, "Forgive me, Mr. Peterson. It skipped my mind to tell you someone asked for you to represent her in court yesterday."

"I told her you’d be available by this time today. She’s currently waiting in the conference room."

"I’ll just go out now to tell her somsone else will be taking her case instead of..."

Jane sighed softly, cutting her, ",You already told her I’d be her lawyer, so I’d be her lawyer. What is her name?"

The woman pressed her lips into a thin line, lowering her eyes in apology again.

"I’m sorry, Ms. Peterson. The firm was so busy yesterday it completely slipped my mind to note it down."

Jane Peterson hummed in understanding, dismissing her with a wave of her hand, "It’s fine. You can leave now."

Three minutes later, she finished her proof-reading and left the office.

Getting to the conference room, she placed a licensing agreement in front of the woman who had her eyes lowered.

Paying no attention to the tank top and gray sweatpant Kelsie had on, she placed her clasped fingers on the table with a small smile.

"Welcome to Peterson’s Law Firm, I’m Jane Peterson and I’ll be your attorney like you requested."

"Before we continue, i need you to sign that agreement stating that you’ve chosen me as your attorney." fr\eewebno vel .c(o)m

"Furthmore, I take it that you know what it costs to hire someone from our law firm to represent you?"

Kelsie first peeled her eyes open before she raised her head properly to look at the woman.

"Of course."

She leaned forward to sign the agreement, then pushed it towards Jane who looked at it and asked again, "Who are you suing and for what are you suing him for?"

"Bryan Baker of the Baker family. I’m suing him for harassment, stalking and defamation." Kelsie replied almost immediately, her eyes not living Jane’s.

Jane hummed, "Do you have proof or witnesses to back up your claim?"

At this, Kelsie reached into her pocket for a flash drive.

"I do. I obtained a copy of the surveillance footage from the apartment building I live in and the restaurant I was at yesterday."

"They’re not the only instances, but they should be more than enough to sue him, right?"

Jane nodded in agreement, taking the flash drive whilst slipping out a card from her pocket.

"If you have everything prepared, then you have nothing to worry about. I’ll serve Mr. Baker before the end of today."

"This is my contact card, please reach out to me if you have anything else to add. I’ll also keep in touch with you if an issue arises."

Kelsie reached out to take it, nodding in agreement.

"Sure."

Jane got up and headed to the door, but paused when she got to it.

Turning her head to look at Kelsie, she questioned cautiously, "Pardon me for asking, but have we met before?"

Kelsie turned to glance at her.

"I don’t think."

Though not convinced, Jane Peterson nodded and promptly left.

Kelsie didn’t linger around either and followed after her.

As she walked to her car, the phone in her pocket began buzzing again for the nth time that day.

When she saw Jerry’s name, she just tossed it to the empty front passenger seat and started the car.

She followed the direction Callum Shaw had sent her that morning until she got to the clothing store he chose.

As soon as she parked properly in the parking lot, Callum called to apologize, saying he would be running late because of an emergency surgery.

It was a place he frequented and was well-known, so he didn’t bother to make reservations beforehand and just told her to go in and tell them she was with him.

Kelsie agreed and went inside.

The salesgirls didn’t pay her much attention seeing how she was dressed.

Kelsie didn’t blame them. It was indeed too odd to dress like this to a place like this.

Because she didn’t intend to stay out for too long, she chose the first thing she saw when she opened her wardrobe.

Moreover, it was a comfortable clothing which made it easier to drive.

Kelsie was just about to inform one of the girls that she was with Callum Shaw when a royal blue dress at a corner caught her eyes.

She wasn’t one to obsess over fashion, so she didn’t know how to describe the dress, but she knew one thing; this was the dress.

Just as she placed her hand on it, another hand hurriedly snatched it from her.

Turning around, she saw the dress in the hands of a frail-looking girl with a delicate face.

Beside her was a tall and burly man.

After admiring the dress, she turned to him and cooed softly, "Baby, this is a beautiful dress. I want it. Please get it for me!"

The man had both hands buried in his pocket as he casually looked down at the dress, "You like this one? I suppose it’s good. How much is..."

He abruptly trailed off when a pair of slender hand reached forward to snatch the dress from his girl.

Ignoring his heated gaze, Kelsie turned to the salesgirl who had run towards the couple with a straight face.

"Where do I pay for this?"
