Chapter 105: Chapter 105 This Family ‘Loves’ Her So Much

Kelsie recognized the voice immediately, but didn’t stop until she was standing in front of the elevator.

The triplets on the other hand, turned to see who it was screaming their mother’s name.

Unfortunately for them, Kelsie didn’t intend to let them see Jerry and gently pushed them into the elevator, ordering with a straight face, "Go straight to the apartment. Mommy has to talk with those people."

Realizing she was ignoring him, Jerry’s eyes clouded over, "What is this? Do you have no respect for me as your father?" f.r(e)e\webn.ovel.co\m

But she ignored him once again and pressed the button for floor 49 before stepping out of the elevator.

Only after the door closed did she slip a hand into her pocket and turned to look at the people behind her.

The corners of her lips spasmed in amusement when she saw all three of them glaring hard at her.

It was almost evening and most of the residents were already returning from work.

When they heard Jerry’s angry voice, they naturally stopped walking to see what was going on.

Seeing that they had people’s attention, Laura suppressed the mocking smile tugging the corners of her lips and suddenly held Jerry’s arm, shaking her head slightly.

"Our family may have looked after Kelsie most of her life, but that doesn’t mean she owes us anything."

"If she doesn’t want to help her little sister when she has the means to, we shouldn’t be here trying to force her to do so."

"I made this mess, so I’ll take care of it myself. We shouldn’t embarrass her just because she refused to help."

Jerry lowered his eyes to look at her, a deep scowl settling on his face.

"What nonsense are you talking now? That VIP is looking down on our family. Why should we let him get his way when your sister is close to influential people?"

Deborah gently stroked her daughter’s hair as she agreed with her husband, "You’re too kind, Laura. But it doesn’t benefit you in any way to worry about your elder sister."

"What kind of big sister stands aside and does nothing while her younger sister is being sued for what she didn’t do?"

"We’re embarrassing her? Oh, please! Just this morning, your father called to tell her what happened and she hung up on him!"

"But that wasn’t enough, she turned off her phone when he kept calling. What kind of daughter treats her father like that just because he’s asking for a small favor?"

"And does she even deserve to call herself your sister when she does nothing to help you when you’re in trouble?"

Instantly, the confusion in the residents’ eyes shifted to contempt as they stared at Kelsie.

"I’ve heard of dysfunctional families, but this doesn’t seem to be one of those. Is she just being cold-hearted or does she have a genuine reason for not helping?"

"What reason can a person have to ignore her father in need and little sister in trouble? I’m not in good terms with my sister, but I’ll never ignore her when she needs my help!"

"Look at her, she doesn’t even look the least remorseful. Does that look like a good daughter to you?"

In response to this situation, Kelsie sighed tiredly.

Ever since she returned to Silicone Valley, she hadn’t had a single peaceful afternoon.

She was doing her very best to stay away from trouble, especially the kind of trouble the Sutton family loved to bring her, but they seem to ’love’ so much.

Seeing how unbothered she remained, Jerry glanced at her with disdain.

"You’ve not done any favor for our Sutton family before. Don’t be so ungrateful and be more willing to help!"

Not wanting to raise her voice any higher than necessary when talking, Kelsie briskly closed the distance between them.

Standing directly in front of Laura, she asked pointedly, "Prof. Callahan told me you nipped an artery when she turned away for a second."

"Why? Did you think the surgery was progressing too slowly and wanted to help despite being just an intern?"

Her question caught everyone off-guard.

The residents who had judged her just now were also tongue-tied.

An intern operated on someone?

Why in the world would an intern try to get involved in a surgery?

However, before any of them could express their thoughts, Jerry stood in front of Laura defensively and pointed a finger at Kelsie’s nose.

"Your sister is just an intern. So it is guaranteed that she’d make mistakes. What happened yesterday wasn’t her fault alone!"

Seeing him all up in her personal space, Kelsie immediately took a step backward before voicing her disagreement.

"An intern should know their place. They shouldn’t think of getting involved in a surgery and should focus on watching the procedure as well as taking notes."

Laura bit down on her lip, defending herself through clenched teeth, "How could you blame me, big sister? Prof. Callahan’s assistants were all busy helping and I just stood there."

"I-I couldn’t just stand aside and do nothing. You’re my sister. You should know how eager I am to learn new things."

Kelsie shifted her eyes to Laura, raising her brows with a scoff, "Are you saying you were right to have interfered in a surgery you knew little about?"

Laura’s eyes dilated slightly.

Indeed, she knew she wasn’t supposed to interfere during the surgery, but her desire to please the professor and show her how exceptional she was despite being just an intern, overwhelmed her during that time.

Even those who didn’t go to medical school knew she was wrong to have done anything. So what could she possibly say right now to defend herself?

Deborah was quick to see her daughter was at a loss for words and took a step forward to yell at Kelsie in agitation, "How many times do you want her to tell you it was an honest mistake? Why should she be punished for trying to help?"

Kelsie’s lips twitched in amusement, "An honest mistake? If she made an honest mistake, then why are you so worried about being sued?"

"If it was really an honest mistake, then you have nothing to worry about. The judge will surely see reasons with what she did and let her walk free."

Deborah grimaced.

"I’m glad that brain of yours isn’t for decoration. You’ve never studied medicine or anything related to it before, so you have no idea how hard it is to study neurosurgery."

"Your little sister didn’t sleep for more than 4 hours everyday when she was med school. Even when she was an intern, she ran around a lot."

"Knowing what she went through, we don’t plan to just do nothing while that VIP drags her to court and uses his power to rob her of everything she has."

Clearing his throat noisily, Jerry decided to butt in at this moment, "Your sister told us you’re close with Jett Adler and Serbian Howard."

"Why don’t you ask them to lend you their lawyers to take up Laura’s case? That way, we can be rest assured that VIP won’t walk all over her in court."
