Chapter 141: Chapter 141 What’s there to fear? (2)

Asher Land stared in shock at her tear-stained face, not knowing what had happened. He had just thought to look around and see if anyone lived nearby, but in just over ten minutes, Sophie Smith’s emotions had unexpectedly spiraled out of control.

He approached her and embraced her tightly.

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left you without saying anything." His voice was somewhat apologetic.

She didn’t know why she felt like this. She shouldn’t be so fragile, but when she opened her eyes in the darkness and didn’t see him, she felt scared.

She hugged him tightly, his solid arms and warm embrace made her feel very comfortable and at ease.

A fleeting thought crossed her mind: if they could always be together, then she could enjoy the sense of security he brought her without any guilt.

But after all, it was just a fantasy. She kept reminding herself to stay sober! She must!

There could never be anything between them.

She quietly leaned against him, spending an uneasy night.

A hint of red light appeared on the horizon, and Sophie rubbed her sleepy eyes. Finally, it was dawn.

She glanced at Asher beside her, and he still had his eyes closed. His defined face was softened by the sunlight, and she gazed at him, momentarily lost in thought.

"Am I really that good-looking?" Asher suddenly opened his eyes and spoke, full of narcissism.

"No." Sophie snapped back to reality, trying hard to conceal her thoughts.

"Then why were you staring at me?"

"I was just checking if you were awake. You should think of a way, the phone is out of battery, and there’s nobody around here. How can we get back?" Sophie was somewhat worried.

"We just have to keep waiting. It would be nice if a car passed by..."

"What if none come?" Sophie couldn’t help but think negatively.

"It won’t happen." Asher tried his best to give her more security, "Don’t worry, I’m here."

Sophie seemed to have thought of something and quickly ran back to the car, and Asher, unclear about her intention, followed her.

She turned her back to him, took off his shirt she was wearing, and then picked up her clothes from the back seat and changed.

"Here you go." She handed him the shirt, "You should put it on quickly. If someone passes by and sees us half-dressed, they’ll think something happened."

"Didn’t something happen?" he asked deliberately.

"..." Sophie was left speechless by him, "Anyway, we need to make sure no one thinks we did anything." After all, she’s a public figure!

Under her intense gaze, Asher obediently put on the clothes.

The two leaned against the car, their eyes firmly watching ahead, hoping for a passing vehicle to stop and help them.

There’s always a way out, after waiting for over an hour, a car finally stopped in front of them.

"Hi, can I borrow your phone? Our car broke down, and we’d like to call someone to tow it." Sophie stepped forward and asked politely.

"Oh! I know you, you’re Sophie Smith! I went to the cinema and watched your movie just a few days ago. Can you sign an autograph for me?" The driver, a very enthusiastic girl around twenty years old, said.

"Of course." Sophie smiled and agreed.

After getting the autograph, the girl was very excited and lent Sophie her phone. It seemed she could soon get out of the predicament. However, to prevent Julia from worrying, she also called to honestly tell Julia about her current situation.

"The guy behind you is really handsome, is he your boyfriend?" The girl had a gossiping look on her face.
