Chapter 142: Chapter 142 What’s there to fear? (3)
"Oh, no, he’s just my assistant." Sophie Smith hurried to explain.
What? Assistant? Asher Land’s face turned noticeably paler.
"Such a handsome assistant!" The girl gazed at Asher Land with starry eyes, unable to look away.
Asher Land felt a bit uneasy under her stare and turned around.
"Thank you so much," Sophie Smith didn’t forget to express her gratitude to the girl again.
"Alright, she’s gone, you can turn around now." After the girl left, Sophie patted Asher’s shoulder, she had never seen him like this before.
"Why did you say I’m your assistant?"
"Otherwise?" Sophie chuckled softly, "Would you admit you’re my boyfriend?"
Sophie walked back to the car, looking a bit tired, leaning against the window, she closed her eyes to rest.
Asher said nothing more, he knew, for now, he didn’t have the right to give her the status she wanted, but someday he definitely would.
Sophie felt like she’d been waiting in the car for a long time, finally, the towing company arrived, but trailing right behind was another car, the door opened, and to her surprise, out stepped Wyatt Sterling!
"I had some business at your company today and happened to bump into Julia, she told me about your situation." Wyatt stood before her, his eyes filled with concern, "Are you okay?"
"This doesn’t seem to concern you, does it?"
Behind her, Asher Land’s face darkened, as if surrounded by gathering flames, slowly closing in on him.
"Asher, Senior Brother is just concerned for me as a friend," Sophie knew he always disliked Wyatt, fearing the awkward atmosphere, she had to step in to ease things.
"Friend? Ha, how can I not see it?" Wyatt once said to the media that he wanted to be with her, only a fool would believe his concern for her was just friendly.
"President Land is right, my feelings for Sophie have indeed surpassed a mere friendship," Wyatt said.
"Senior Brother!" Sophie was also somewhat taken aback, wasn’t he just adding fuel to the fire?
Asher Land sneered, eyes cold, fists clenched tightly, Sophie felt a pang of anxiety and instinctively positioned herself in front of Wyatt Sterling.
"Are you so afraid I’d hurt him?" He forced down the anger simmering within.
The bloodthirsty impulse flickered beneath his surface, she was merely worried that he might do something excessive in a moment of impulse. Wyatt was genuinely good to her, cared for her, she didn’t want him getting hurt because of her.
"Yes, I don’t want you to hurt anyone because of me."
The atmosphere remained tense, none of the three spoke. Sophie didn’t recall how she got home, only remembering she was so tired, she fell asleep in the car, then woke up lying on a soft and comfortable bed.
She dragged her weary self around the living room and bedroom searching, but didn’t see any sign of Asher Land.
On the dining table was a note and a heap of delicious-looking food.
The note simply said, remember to eat.
Asher Land’s handwriting was very elegant, Sophie smiled knowingly, sat at the table, and began to enjoy the meal.
Halfway through eating, the phone suddenly rang, she looked closely and saw it was a call from Eva Miller.
Because of work, she hadn’t seen her good friend Eva Miller for a long time.
"Sophie, do you have time, I want to see you." Eva’s voice seemed a bit off, as if she was particularly suppressing something.
