Chapter 140: Chapter 140 What’s there to fear? (1)
"Damnit!" Asher Land cursed discontentedly.
"What’s wrong?" Sophie Smith asked with some unease.
Asher Land got out of the car, walked around it once, and then returned to the car.
"The tire’s punctured." He had been momentarily distracted and hadn’t noticed a sharp object by the roadside. Now it’s late, no spare tire, and on top of that, here they are in a remote countryside...
"We might have to spend the night here."
"No way?" Sophie exclaimed in panic. This is the countryside, dark and stormy at night, and she couldn’t help but shiver from the depths of her heart.
"What’s there to be afraid of?" Asher asked, puzzled.
"Everything is scary," Sophie answered truthfully.
Asher chuckled softly, "With me here, there’s no need to worry."
Sophie felt a warmth in her heart, her mood indeed relaxed quite a bit.
Throughout the long night, both of them silently lamented in their hearts. When Sophie saw her phone displaying shutdown due to insufficient battery, her last emotional support was gone.
Asher was sitting in the back seat at this moment, proudly flaunting his phone.
Isn’t he deliberately trying to make things difficult for her?
Sophie got out of the car, opened the door, and sat in the back seat.
"Could you lend me the phone?" She looked at him with sincere earnestness.
"Why?" The certain man feigned an innocent smile and then continued engrossed in playing with his phone.
"Because I’m bored." Sophie gave him a sideways glance; he even had the nerve to ask why. Who made him so careless while driving? Otherwise, would they be stuck here?
For no particular reason, Asher’s mood improved. He pulled her close, embracing her.
"What are you doing?" Sophie was entirely wary of him.
"Let’s play together." Asher generously placed the phone in front of her. Just as she was about to grab it, he stretched his arm and moved it away.
"I meant play together, so don’t even think about hogging it."
Darn Asher Land, why is he so stingy?
Helplessly, Sophie had to quietly lie in his arms, watching some dull TV show together to pass the time.
But in the end, even Asher’s phone couldn’t hold up and ’gloriously’ shut down as well.
Sophie sighed deeply; her disappointed look naturally caught his eye, the corners of his lips gently rising.
"On this long night, why don’t we do something to pass the time?"
She noticed the mischievous smile at his lips and his increasingly restless big hands.
"This is outside, you, you..." Can you not be so shameless! Sophie said to herself inwardly.
His lips drove straight in, kissing her soft skin with affection, from her ear to her neck, all the way down.
"Stop, ..." Sophie refused uneasily, but her body was somewhat not obeying.
He knew her body better than anyone; he naturally delighted in her response.
Another round of tenderness ensued.
...
Sophie leaned tiredly against the car window, and upon opening her eyes, found Asher wasn’t in the car. She discovered she was wearing his loose shirt, her clothes scattered beside her.
She hesitated to open the car door, glanced around but didn’t find him anywhere.
"Asher," she softly called his name, her mood instantly becoming fearful. She stood there anxiously, on the verge of breaking down for a moment.
"Where are you, Asher?" She couldn’t help but tear up; why did he leave her alone here?
She squatted on the ground, hugging her knees, sobbing, her small frame shivering uncontrollably.
"Sophie." Upon hearing the familiar voice, she reflexively stood up, looking back.
