Chapter 103: Chapter 103 A Conspiracy (Part 2)
"This is the wine you requested." The waiter placed a fine bottle of red wine on the table, and Eva Miller thanked him, pouring the wine into her glass.
"President Land, I heard you love red wine, so..." That’s why she catered to his preference.
Asher Land took the wine from her hand and downed it in one go, making Eva Miller feel somewhat relieved as she took a light sip herself.
During this meal, Asher Land showed an unusual amount of patience, managing to sit there for over half an hour. After all, the woman sitting across from him was a friend of his.
He drank glass after glass, and soon the bottle was emptied.
"Waiter, another bottle."
"No need." He wasn’t interested in entangling himself with a woman he barely knew. He stood up, intending to leave, but as soon as he stood, he felt a wave of dizziness, his head spinning, forcing him to sit back down. But he had only had one bottle, this wasn’t his usual alcohol tolerance.
Eva Miller finished the last drop in her glass and then slumped over the table, asleep.
Asher Land shook his head, trying to stay alert, but he couldn’t control himself and collapsed onto the chair.
Seeing no movement inside the room, Luke Land pushed the door open, noticing the two were already unconscious, and a mysterious smile appeared on his lips.
He rummaged through Eva Miller’s bag and found Sophie’s number on her phone. Thinking for a moment, he sent a message to Sophie.
"Take them to room 1302, here’s the key card." Asher Land instructed the waiters behind him, "Oh, and if a woman comes looking for them, be sure to give her the key card."
"Understood." The waiter took the key card and nodded.
...
Sophie Smith looked at the message from Eva Miller on her phone and, without thinking much of it, hailed a taxi to the hotel.
Eva Miller mentioned that both she and Asher Land had drunk too much and that Asher couldn’t drive back, so she asked Sophie to come pick them up.
Sophie arrived at the front desk but wasn’t sure how to inquire.
"Miss, is there something you need?"
"Oh, I’m looking for someone."
"Who are you looking for, miss?"
They probably weren’t aware of Asher Land and Eva Miller, so how should she say it?
"I have two friends who got drunk here, one male around six foot one, very tall, and a female around five foot six with long black straight hair parted in the middle, um, and..." Sophie tried to recall, not knowing if her vague description would be understood.
"Oh, is the woman named Eva Miller?"
"Yes!" Sophie was puzzled, "But how do you know?"
"Here’s the thing." She took a bag from the counter containing Eva Miller’s phone, wallet, and ID, "This lady got drunk, and the waiter took them to a room, here’s the key card."
Sophie, half skeptical, took the key card, grabbed Eva Miller’s bag, and headed to room 1302.
...
Asher Land rubbed his aching head, wondering why his alcohol tolerance was so low today. He turned over in bed, suddenly touching a soft body with his hand.
He jumped up from the bed as if electrocuted.
Eva Miller lay beside him with her eyes gently closed, completely unclothed. Damn it, how did she end up here?
What on earth happened?
Asher Land cursed internally; he couldn’t have gotten drunk and done something, could he?
He casually grabbed a bath towel from the edge of the bed to cover himself, his head pounding, unable to remember what had happened.
The door suddenly opened, and Asher Land turned sharply, feeling his heart leap out of his chest when he saw the person at the door.
Sophie Smith stared blankly at Eva Miller on the bed, then mechanically looked up at the already panic-stricken Asher Land beside her. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and her lips opened and closed without making a sound for a long time.
"I don’t know how this happened, I was drunk." He attempted to explain.
"Asher Land, you bastard!"
She threw the bag in her hand at him with force.
