No Skills, No Limits: Conquering the Apocalypse
Chapter 88: WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF

Chapter 88: WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF

The morning dawned, the sun striking angrily. Because of the bright line, Terrence and the others woke up early, even if they did not want to.

Terrence deeply yawned. Even though they were in the forest, he was able to sleep peacefully. It was all thanks to the inflatable he had bought.

Sitting up, Terrence looked around his tent. His clothes and bag were just on the side. Half of the space in his tent was occupied by his bed and things, only leaving a limited free space for him.

Fortunately, he bought this size or else he did not know how he or his things would even fit inside.

Terrence went outside with his phone, clothes and his hygiene kit.

He brought this especially since he did not want to smell bad, knowing that they’ll be under the sun for hours later.

Fredrick’s team were able to bring a public restroom by yesterday.

How they were able to bring it?

Terrence also didn’t know. It was already there when they arrived.

When Terrence saw that almost all of them were still inside their tents, he immediately went inside the bathroom.

Terrence’s eyes surveyed the inside of the bathroom. It was clean and smelled fresh.

Someone probably came here to clean this up while they were sleeping since it looked like new.

The inside was complete with a shower, a sink, a toilet with a working flush, and a bidet. There were also basic toiletries on the side, such as liquid hand soap and tissue.

Terrence brushed his teeth and took a bath.

The water was cold but was bearable since he had no choice. It helped him wake up his still sleeping mind.

When he was done, he quickly put on some clothes as he heard noises from outside. It seemed like they were all awake now.

The team gathered around the now-smoldering remains of the campfire, exchanging determined glances.

They were still sleepy from staying up late yesterday, but they knew they had to start working already.

When Terrence left the bathroom, the aroma of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed coffee filled the morning air.

In just a short amount of time, Rey and Natalie were already busy preparing a hearty breakfast.

Terrence didn’t know that cooking outdoors would make the food smell more heavily.

"Good morning, Natalie." Terrence greeted Natalie as he walked closer to them to help.

"Hi, Terrence! Good morning~" Natalie hummed. She inhaled the fresh smell of Terrence, sending little butterflies to her stomach.

"Where’s your uncle, by the way?" Terrence asked when he noticed that Fredrick wasn’t with them outside.

"He’s still in his tent," Natalie answered.

Fredrick, ever the early riser, had already organized the essentials for their journey. A map solely created for their journey, some food packs, and things essential like lighters and matches were now ready inside 2 bags.

He carefully grouped the items to ensure that it can be carried out by them.

"Good morning, everyone!" Fredrick greeted each team member with a smile.

As they gathered around the improvised outdoor dining area, laughter and conversation slowly replaced the morning grogginess. The meal, a mix of scrambled eggs, bacon, and steaming hot coffee, acted as a tool to help them wake up and have energy for the day.

With breakfast done, they packed up their supplies and geared up for the day’s exploration. The sun peeked through the trees, casting dappled patterns of light on the forest floor as they began their walk into the woods.

The team walked in sync, their steps synchronized with determination. Natalie and Terrence were placed in the middle to ensure their safety.

With nothing to do, Terrence and Natalie could only talk to each other since others were very busy.

They have gloves on their hands and a clear bag in case they’ll discover something.

Despite the tiredness, Terrence and Natalie couldn’t help but to enjoy what they were doing.

"The view here is so good." Natalie smiled widely. She pointed out the abandoned houses on the far right side.

"I know right," Terrence answered as he appreciated the view more as they walked deeper.

However, hours passed, and despite their thorough search, the forest remained silent, shrouded in a serene stillness.

Exhausted and slightly disheartened, they paused for a moment to catch their breath. The team exchanged glances, a mix of frustration evident on their faces.

Fredrick, smiled to encourage them, "Keep your spirits up, guys. We’re just scratching the surface. There’s more ground to cover."

As they regrouped near a small area, Rey pulled out a map, tracing their path and plotting potential areas they hadn’t explored yet.

"It seems like we missed some area far back. Let’s go there tomorrow since we already covered almost three quarters. Let’s just leave this for later or tomorrow," he suggested, pointing to an unmarked section on the map.

The map was carefully marked while they were walking.

The team agreed, they were also already tired from hours of walking without resting.

Walking was no problem at all, but they had to be wary of their surroundings and searched every corner in case there was something to help with the case, so it doubled their effort.

"Are you fine?" Terrence worriedly asked Natalie as they sat on the ground covered with cloth.

He was used to walking, but for sure, Natalie wasn’t.

Natalie slowly nodded, hiding the pain she was feeling in her feet. She didn’t know that walking for this long would be a problem for her.

Terrence sighed. It was obvious that Natalie was lying. He has been watching her since early. The way she walked, taking a pause with each step, wasn’t normal.

"Don’t hide your pain. I’ll carry you later." Terrence looked at Natalie. There was eagerness on his face.

"B-But..." Natalie’s eyes widened. She wanted to reject Terrence’s offer.

She was slim and light, but Natalie thought that Terrence must have been tired already too.

Terrence tilted his head to the side as if he had read Natalie’s mind.

"I’m fine. Worry about yourself first."
