Chapter 80: TERRENCE’S DISCOVERY
Chapter 80: TERRENCE’S DISCOVERY
Terrence woke up in a hasty after a few hours. His forehead creased when he noticed that he was alone in the bed.
"Natalie?!"
Terrence shouted out loud in hopes of hearing a reply. However, a few seconds had passed, and nothing sounded.
Terrence sat on the bed and looked around. There were no signs of Natalie everywhere, even her clothes.
He sighed and checked his phone.
’Natalie wouldn’t just leave without a reason, right?’
Just like what he expected, there was a message from Natalie. It was sent almost 2 hours ago.
[Natalie: Sorry, Terrence. My father called for me. That’s why I left.]
’I slept that long?’
Terrence’s forehead creased as he realized what time it was already.
Without a choice, Terrence stood up to gather all his clothes that were scattered on the floor.
They were so tired yesterday that they didn’t even get the chance to get back their clothes.
Terrence called the hotel’s lobby to ask for new clothes. That’s when he learned that Natalie requested one earlier as well.
He just took a quick bath and waited for the clothes he requested. When it arrived, he quickly put it on and went down to check out and pay in the hotel’s lobby. He still needed to go back to the other hotel that he was staying at.

Terrence smiled at the staff as he walked away. He hailed a cab and went straight ahead to his previous hotel to get his things back.
He will give back the non-disclosure agreement that he signed to Fredrick first, before going home.
"Please wait for me here, Sir. I’ll just get my things." Terrence uttered as he left the cab and ran towards the inside of the hotel.
He quickly took his backpack, which contained all of his clothes and the folder on top of the bed.
And just like earlier, he went to the lobby and paid for his stay.
[$5040 had been subtracted from your balance.]
[You gained 50 EXP]
[You earned $1080!]
When he was done, he went back to the cab again and said his destination.
"To the police station, Sir. I’ll just submit a document." Terrence uttered.
He just hoped that Fredrick was there or else his efforts in going would be put into waste.
They arrived at the police station in less than an hour. Fortunately, Fredrick was there when Terrence went inside.
"Hi there, Terrence!" Fredrick was in joy as he saw Terrence’s familiar face.
Fredrick looked at the back of Terrence when he noticed that Natalies weren’t there.
"Where’s my niece?" He asked. He was weirded out that Terrence was alone.
"She told me her Dad called for her. Did she pass by her to return this?" Terrence showed the folder in his hand.
Fredrick tilted his head to the side. He shook his head. "Nope. You’re the first one to come here between the two of you."
"Ohh," Terrence silently nodded. He gave the folder to Fredrick before forcing a smile on his face.
"Natalie was just really like that," Frederick stated when he noticed the disappointment on Terrence’s face.
"What do you mean?" Terrence eyed Fredrick curiously.
"Well, I’m not in the right position to say this, but since Natalie was a kid, she was already scared of her father." Fredrick sighed. "It was to the point that her body would tremble at her dad’s presence."
"Why?" Terrence’s forehead creased.
With Natalie’s personality, he thought that she was just a carefree person. Or someone who was free to do all the things that she liked. He didn’t know that there was more to it.
"We didn’t know how it started, too," Frederick sighed. "But one day, we noticed that there were a few bruises on Natalie’s arms. We asked her where it came from, but she only answered that she fell on the bed."
Terrence’s breathing hitched. What he heard surprised him the most.
"Then what happened?" Terrence asked.
Frederick sighed. "Since then, her mom and dad started fighting regularly. Natalie’s mom kept asking her dad about it, but Natalie’s father would be mad and defensive about the matter..." he paused before looking at Terrence.
"Even though she’s hiding it, I know Natalie was blaming herself for why their family got broken." Frederick bitterly smiled. He patted Terrence’s shoulder.
"That’s why please don’t hurt my niece. She had gone through a lot already."
Terrence nodded. "I know that," and he wasn’t planning too, anyway.
Fredrick chuckled. "Our topic had gotten serious. I apologize for that."
Terrence tilted his head to the side. "That’s fine. I had gotten to know Natalie more because of it."
"I hope you don’t mention to Natalie that I said those things."
"You can count on me. Don’t worry," Terrence assured Fredrick about it.
Fredrick looked at Terrence jokingly. "I’ll count on you then," he stated in a joking manner.
Terrence chuckled and nodded.
"That’s it then. I’ll just update you when Natalie submits her file and if there’s an update regarding the case."
"Sure. How is Hugo, by the way?" Terrence curiously asked.
"As of now, he is still being monitored. The bite marks on his skin, doesn’t seem to go away though, so we’re still contacting a few doctors for that." Fredrick sighed. Because of that, this case had gotten more complicated than it was.
"Ohhhh," Terrence slowly nodded. "I’ll get going now then," he uttered.
Fredrick checked the content of the papers, ensuring that Terrence was able to sign all of it before replying.
"Alright. Take care." He smiled.
Terrence nodded and left. He went back to the cab and told the driver his house’s location.
As the driver started the car’s engine, Terrence’s mind couldn’t help but wander.
He thought that Natalie must have been so busy and in a rush for her to forget to submit the folder back.
He sighed deeply and looked outside the window.
"I wonder what she’s doing now?"
