Chapter 74: INTERROGATION

As they walked towards the inside of the police station, many police officers stopped what they were doing to greet them as they passed by.

Terrence couldn’t help but look around. Once you enter inside the station, you will see a front desk in the middle and a few benches on the side. There were people seated, doing their own thing as they waited for their turn.

They passed by numerous rooms. It was an enclosed room with a glass window in the middle of the wall so you could see what was happening inside.

In the middle of that hallway was another connecting hallway leading to where prisoners reside.

Fredrick led them to the end of the hallway. They stopped in front of a room that was noticeably larger compared to others.

"Good morning, Sir." A man, who was wearing the same uniform as Fredrick, greeted them. He placed his right hand on the top right side of his forehead to salute and stood straight.

Fredrick also made the same gesture and said, "Good morning, Justin. Is he inside now?"

The man nodded. "Yes, Sir. Everything is set up already." He respectfully uttered in a monotonous tone.

After hearing the answer, Fredrick glanced at Terrence and Natalie and smiled.

"Please make sure that your phones are in silent mode to avoid distractions. Please do note that it is also forbidden to record anything that is happening inside," He reminded the two of them.

Terrence and Natalie did exactly as what was reminded to them. They took their phones out of their pocket and put them in silent mode.

After that, Fredrick opened the door and led them toward the inside of the room.

"Woah!" Natalie couldn’t help but be amazed about it.

Terrence found the room oddly familiar to his eyes. It must be because, in his previous life, their office looked like inside the interrogation room they were in.

As Terrence looked around, the man seated on the other side of the room caught his attention.

The whole room was split in half, separated by a metal door and a wall with a large, tinted glass window in the middle.

"He looked like he was in a bad shape," Terrence uttered.

Even though the wounds on the man’s face had already been taken care of with band aids and gauze pads, his overall complexion worsened.

His face was paler, and his dark undereye became more apparent.

"Yes. We were already talking to a psychiatrist yesterday, and he was supposed to come today to check on him." Fredrick defeatedly sighed. "We do not know what is happening to him."

Terrence slowly nodded.

"Look at all of these monitors, Terrence." Natalie’s eyes were wide open ass he pointed out at the 4 monitors on the table.

Two monitors showed different angles of the camera in the interrogation room. One was then used to record the audio. The last one was used as the primary monitor for the computer.

"Let’s get this started," Fredrick announced after a few seconds. He placed both of his hands together at his back.

Justin quickly adjusted the view of the camera after hearing Fredrick. After that, he pulled out a drawer from the cabinet below the table, took out a key, and gave it to Fredrick.

"You two can stay here. You’re not allowed to go inside while the interrogation is taking place. However, we may give you some time later."

Terrence and Natalie could only nod. They watched as Fredrick went inside the room calmly.

The two of them sat beside Justin as he offered them the chairs beside him. They were focused. They wanted to see how the interrogation would take place.

Fredrick greeted the man inside the room. His name was Hugo, an ordinary office worker who was now involved in this case.

Fredrick glanced at Hugo. He sighed and sat in front of him.

On the other hand, Hugo wasn’t showing any emotions on his face. He was looking at the air blankly. His eyes were lifeless.

"I will be straightforward today since we already did this." Fredrick uttered. He was checking out if Hugo would give him any reaction, but there was none.

Taking a deep breath, Fredrick remained calm and collected.

"Did you kill the two men that we found in the area?"

Hugo remained silent. A few seconds after his, head slowly turned to face Fredrick.

"I will ask you again. Did you kill the two men that we found in the area?"

Hugo slowly shook his head as a response.

Fredrick’s eyes widened when Hugo, for the first time, answered his question. He then tried to ask another question in the hope that he would get more information that could help them with this case.

"Were the corpse already there when you arrived at the location?" Fredrick eyed Terrence.

It took them minutes before Hugo shook his head again as an answer.

Fredrick noted the answers on the paper on top of the table.

"Did you find or saw anyone suspicious when you arrived at the crime scene?"

Just like Hugo’s previous answer, he shook his head as an answer.

Fredrick’s forehead creased as he wrote it down on the paper.

"Did you see the victims alive at the crime scene? If yes, then can you describe what you saw? Were they walking on the street, or were they walking across the side where the trees and the plants are located?"

Just like a trigger word, Hugo’s eyes widened. It was the first time that he showed emotion after being here for 3 days.

Hugo pushed the table forcefully and tried to get away. He ran to the corner of the room and sat on the ground. He cowered down and placed his hands on his head as if he was hiding.

"Ahhhhhhhhh!" Hugo shouted out loud. His loud shout was replaced by a loud cry. He hit his head using his palms multiple times.

"Plant... teeth... Ahhhhh! Stopppp!"
