Chapter 60: AN ANGEL
Chapter 60: AN ANGEL
Terrence listed job offerings to different sites.
After he was done, he stood up and ate a quick lunch. He was planning to go out and walk around.
’Should I visit Edwin? It has been long since I went there.’ Terrence thought about it.
He wanted to see what Edwin’s grocery looked like now. At the same time, he wanted to see how William was doing.
Terrence chuckled. He was speaking as if it was long enough since he last saw them.
Terrence took a bath and dressed plainly afterward. He only took his cellphone with him and left their house.
He made sure to lock it even though there were really no thieves in their area since all of them were poor.
Well, that was not the case with Edwin’s family anymore.
Terrence looked at the clear sky as he started to walk. The sun’s heating gaze hit his face.
He covered his face using one of his hands.
Even though it was hot, the cold wind still blew, making it manageable. Beads of sweat started to form on Terrence’s forehead as he walked for minutes.
Terrence couldn’t help but smile as he looked around to watch the kids playing in glee. It was loud even though the sun was striking.
’It’s unusually a bright and sunny day today,’ Terrence thought.
It has been a while since Terrence saw such a bright day.
"Hi, Mr.!" A young boy shouted as he waved his hands in Terrence’s direction. The boy has a frail body. He was small and looked thin. There were traces of dirt on his hands and body.
Despite that, his brown eyes and the smile on his face showed that he was happy.
The shout caught Terrence’s attention. He smiled at the young boy.
When the young boy thought that the man in front of him was kind, he looked back at his friend.
"Let’s go to Mr. Kind!" He shouted with enthusiasm.
Terrence stopped walking when he saw how the kids ran to him. He was quite surprised, but he hid it.
"Hi, Mr. Kind!" The kid smiled, showing all of his teeth. There were some teeth that were missing.
"Hi," Terrence smiled back. "What’s your name?" he asked, as he didn’t know what to call them.
"I am Alex," Alex proudly said his name.
Alex turned around and took his friend’s hand. "And this is my friend, Sofia!"
Sofia, the girl whom Alex took with her, shyly waved at Terrence.
Terrence waved back. He noticed that Sofia was shy and nervous as she was fidgeting her fingers and slightly hiding behind Alex’s back.
"Mr. Kind, do you want to buy this bracelet we made?" Alex asked as he showed a bracelet made out of clear string and beads.
Terrence sightly sat down so that he would be of the same height as the kids in front of him.
"Did you make this?" he asked curiously, even though he already had an answer on his mind.
It looked like it was made by the two of them since the color and the size of the beads weren’t in order and weren’t matching.
Overall, it looked messy.
Alex confidently nodded his head. He stood up straight and smiled more. "Doesn’t it look good, Mr. Kind? Sofia said that it looked bad!"
Terrence chuckled. His gaze moved to Sofia.
"Look, Mr. Kind is not replying. I told you that it was bad." Sofia whispered to Alex’s ears.
Terrence’s chuckle became a laugh after hearing what Sofia had said.
Sofia’s eyes widened. She hid further behind Alex’s back.
Alex looked back. "Don’t hide, Sofia. Mr. Kind is not a bad guy. He’s our new friend!" he exclaimed.
When Sofia heard it, she stared at Terrence first before stepping out of Alex’s back. She placed her hand on her back and looked at Terrence.
"I’m sorry for hiding, Mr." She apologized.
Terrence tilted his head to the side. The smile on his lips can’t die down. It was the first time
he had encountered a situation like this.
"No worries, Sofia." In a soft tone, Terrence answered.
"How much is this bracelet then?" Terrence asked.
Alex and Sofia looked at each other. They both looked worried.
"Uhm..." Terrence looked at Sofia. "What do we answer to him?" he asked. He was unsure of it.
"I don’t know, too," Sofia answered. She pouted and looked at Alex.
"How about you price it, Mr. Kind? We are willing to accept anything!" Alex’s eyes sparkled as if he had found a good solution to their problem.
This made Terrence laugh once again.
"What will you do with the money?" Terrence curiously asked.
Terrence looked at the two kids in front of him. They looked like they were only 6 years old.
He was curious why they were selling at such an age.
Alex scratched the back of his head. "Sofia’s grandmother is sick, Mr. Kind. We will use the money to buy her grandma’s medicine!" he answered as if it was not a problem at all.
Terrence slowly nodded. The smile on his face dropped after hearing the answer. They looked cheerful and happy, but the truth was, there was a sad reason why they were doing this.
"I will buy it then," Terrence uttered.
When the kids heard what Terrence answered, they both jumped in glee. They were already selling the bracelet for 2 days straight, but no one would even pay attention to them.
Terrence took two $1000 bills from his system and gave one to each child. "Here’s your payment, since I really like the bracelet." He smiled and wore the bracelet on his left hand.
It was tight and too little for his wrist.
[You gained 50 EXP]
[You earned $4000!]
When the kids received the money, their eyes widened as they counted the zeroes in the bill.
"There’s three 0 in the bill, Alex!" Sofia exclaimed loudly. She knew the value of money since it was already taught to her.
She looked at Terrence and smiled. She ran towards Terrence and hugged him all of a sudden.
This caused Terrence to be out of balance, but he just accepted the hug and hugged her back.
"That’s not fair! Me too!" Alex shouted as he quickly ran towards Terrence.
"You’re an angel, Mr. Kind!"
