Chapter 51: NATALIE’S RELATION TO WILLIAM
Terrence went down to the first floor before 30 minutes could pass. He remembered exactly what Natalie had told him.
When the door of the elevator opened, he saw Natalie waiting at the side. She was using her phone while seated on one of the sofas.
Terrence wiped the remaining tears on his eyes. He cleared his throat and proceeded to walk towards Natalie.
He put a smile on his face and approached Natalie, "Natalie," he called her.
Natalie looked at the side when she heard Terrence’s voice. Her eyes lit up, "You’re done talking to your sister?"
Terrence nodded. "Yup. We can go now." he uttered.
"Did you manage to say goodbye to your sister properly? I’m sorry that this happened. I don’t know what’s running in my dad’s head." Natalie chuckled as she stood up.
Terrence tilted his head to the side. "That was nothing. Either way, you were able to help the students."
Natalie slowly nodded. "I actually felt jealous with you’re close to your family." She confessed.
Growing up, Natalie was not close to her father. She would only see him rarely as he was too busy. That was the same with her mother. She was his father’s first wife and when they parted ways she was left alone to her father.
This must be why she felt like she has both mommy and daddy issues.
Terrence glanced at Natalie after hearing what she said. He didn’t know what to answer so he remained silent as they walked towards the outside.
When Natalie noticed how Terrence became silent, she chuckled lightly. "You didn’t know what to answer, aren’t you?"
"Yeah..."
This made Natalie laugh even more. "I was not expecting any answers from you. Don’t worry." She smiled sweetly.
Seeing Natalie’s smile, Terrence smiled as well. "So... you’re not close with your fam?"
Natalie nodded with Terrence’s question. "Yepppp. I was an only child so growing up I had no playmates. And you know, my mom is divorced with my dad so yeah..." she shrugged her shoulders.
Terrence slowly nodded. He asked another question.
"How about your relationship with your stepmom?"
"Oh, well. It is civil, I guess?" Natalie unsurely answered.
Since her dad married another woman when she was already old enough, she didn’t really feel any remorse or any sour feeling.
Her dad’s second wife was nice but since Natalie left their house to live alone just a couple of months after her father married, they had no time to get close to each other.
"At least that’s nice. You know those dramas where the stepmom is abusing her stepdaughter." Terrence joked around.
Natalie laughed out loud. "I didn’t know that you read those stories, Terrence. It’s so unlike you."
"Well, that was years ago. Abigail would make me read those stories." Terrence shook his head when she remembered those memories.
Natalie laughed even louder. She couldn’t imagine Terrence reading that kind of stuff. He looked so serious and mature for those.
Terrence smiled. "Your Uncle James is already waiting for us," he pointed out when he saw him standing near the gate.
Natalie looked at the direction where Terrence was looking at. In there she saw James waiting patiently for them.
Natalie waved her hands at James before looking at Terrence. "Let’s go, Terrence!"
Terrence chuckled and nodded. He took a step to the side and suddenly took Natalie’s hands. He wrapped his fingers at Natalie’s palms before smiling.
"Let’s go."
Terrence pulled Natalie using her hands as he ran.
Natalie, even though was shocked by what Terrence did, managed to ran as well. After a few seconds she smiled and stared at Terrence who was running determinedly.
He was a few steps ahead of her.
The two of them laughed at each other. They looked like teenage couples who were running together.
After a few seconds of running, they arrived to where James was.
Out of breath, Terrence stopped for a while to get some air. Natalie did the same.
"Where do we go now, Young Miss?" James asked after he gave time to both Terrence and Natalie to catch their breath.
"To Terrence’s house once again, Uncle James. After that let’s go back to my condo." Natalie smiled.
James nodded. "Let’s go now, Young Miss. Your presence with a man will be known if we stay here any longer." He reminded.
"Yes, Uncle. I understand." Natalie sighed before following James to the car.
Natalie glanced at Terrence to explain it. "Well, my father didn’t really know that I came here with someone. I told him that I’ll just be visiting to make sure that everything is fine." She explained.
Natalie had to inform her father about it since she knew that at the end, her visitation would still reach her father’s ears.
"Ohhh..." Terrence silently nodded.
"I have something to ask you, Natalie." When Terrence remembered it, he stopped walking and faced Natalie.
Natalie who suddenly got anxious by the seriousness in Terrence’s voice also stopped walking. Before facing Terrence, she smiled at James first and said, "Go inside first, Uncle."
James nodded and followed Natalie’s words silently. When the two of them were left alone beside the car, Natalie faced Terrence.
"What is it, Terrence?" she asked curiously.
Terrence menacingly stared at Natalie’s eyes. "When we were in the dinner... You know about William that time, didn’t you?"
Natalie fell into silence with the unexpected question. She swallowed hardly, finding it hard to answer the question.
When she saw that Terrence was determined to know the answer, she bowed down her head and slowly nod.
"Yes..." In a low voice, she answered.
"Does the two of you have a relation with each other?" Terrence asked once again. He remembered how close Natalie and William’s father were. It won’t be a surprise if the two of them were friends since back then.
Natalie quickly shook her head. "Of course no! We’re just civil with each other, Terrence." She actively defended.
Terrence stared at Natalie’s eyes to see if she was telling the truth.
Terrence took a deep breath.
"Just make sure about it, Natalie."
