Chapter 50: GIVING ALLOWANCE
"Thank you for doing this, Brother," Abigail uttered as a smile formed on her lips.
"I’m glad that you still like here even though it hasn’t been hours yet." Terrence pointed out. It was evident how Abigail’s eyes sparkled as they walked inside the university.
With Natalie’s permission, he was allowed to take Abigail to the dorm where they would be staying. It was located inside the university.
Abigail chuckled. Her heart had gotten lighter compared to earlier. "It’s my first time seeing such a view, Brother. It’s pretty here compared to what I usually see."
Terrence laughed with Abigail. He smiled as he watched how she looked around.
Abigail was amazed. Her eyes were shining as she looked at the green fields and their university buildings. It was old, but they looked clean and good.
After a few minutes of walking, they arrived in front of a white building that had ten floors. Compared to the other buildings, it looked new.
Natalie, who was following Terrence and Abigail, stepped forward. She glanced at Terrence and said, "This is the dorm where your sister and the other students will stay."
Terrence slowly nodded. He surveyed the building, looking at it from top to bottom. "What’s in here?"
Natalie thought about it carefully first before giving Terrence the final answer.
"The first floor is used as a lounge area. There is a common place where the students can study or hang out with one another. The second floor will be used as a common dining hall for the students."
"That’s good." Terrence commended.
"Well, the 3rd floor and the rest of the floors will be where the students will reside. Every floor will have a total of 5 rooms." Natalie continued.
Terrence smiled at Natalie. "Thanks for looking through it," he uttered.
Natalie became flushed. She bit her lower lips and tilted her head to the side. "That’s nothing, Terrence. I’m just doing my job." She uttered, trying to hide the fact that the only reason why she did this was because of Terrence.
Abigail, who was left in the middle of Terrence and Natalie, cleared her throat. She looked like a third wheel.
"Let’s go inside now, guys?" Abigail awkwardly laughed. She was not used to Natalie’s presence, making it awkward for her.
She was even shocked when Terrence introduced her earlier to Natalie. What surprised her the most was when Terrence said that she was the daughter of one of the senators who had been supporting the scholarship program.
Abigail almost bowed down to Natalie earlier if only Terrence didn’t stop her. She thought that she was there at first to supervise them.
Abigail didn’t know that she was actually her brother’s friend.
Natalie looked at Terrence and smiled. "Let’s go now. I’m sure your sister wants to rest already."
Terrence nodded. He pulled the luggage in his hand and followed Natalie and Abigail inside the building. They were greeted by a uniformed man.
"Good afternoon, Miss Natalie," The uniformed man greeted with full enthusiasm.
"Good afternoon, too. We’re going upstairs. Take care of the things." She maneuvered Terrence to let go of the luggage in his hands.
"Alright."
Terrence followed since it was a hassle carrying them. He gave all the things he was carrying to the uniformed man.
Natalie led the way since both Terrence and Abigail were clueless about where Abigail would stay.
The uniformed man volunteered to guide them, but Natalie politely declined.
Riding the elevator, they reached the 8th floor in no time.
"This will be your room, Abigail." Natalie pointed out the second room next to the elevator. It was the biggest among all of them.
Abigail shyly nodded her head. She hid the excitement that she was feeling.
"Thank you, Miss Natalie."
Terrence patted Natalie’s shoulders lightly. "Thank you for bringing me here."
Natalie smiled. "No problem. I’ll leave you two first, but we need to leave in 30 minutes, Terrence. The second batch of students will arrive."
Terrence nodded. "I understand that. I’ll go down in 30 minutes."
Natalie nodded before she waved her hands, saying goodbye to both Abigail and Terrence.
When they were left alone, Terrence looked at Abigail. He forced a smile on his lips.
"It seems like it will be long before I get to see you again." He chuckled, hiding the tears in his eyes.
Abigail nodded in silence. She was happy exploring the university a while ago with her brother, but she realized that he had to leave in a couple of minutes.
"Yes, brother." Abigail bitterly smiled. She swallowed the big lump in her throat. She said to herself that she should not cry while saying goodbye to her brother.
Terrence opened up his arms widely. He smiled. "A last hug?"
Abigail slowly nodded. She chuckled sadly before stepping forward and accepting her brother’s hug.
"Do your best here, Abigail. We will be rooting for you." Terrence cheered up as the two of them let go of their hug.
Abigail nodded. "Yes, brother. The next time you’ll see me, I’m more genius than you already." She joked.
Terrence laughed at Abigail’s joke. "I’ll look forward to that then," he replied, which made both of them laugh.
When Terrence remembered it, he placed his hands in his pocket. He took some money out of his system.
[$10,000 had been subtracted from your balance.]
When Terrence felt the cold cash in his palms, he took out his hands from his pocket. He showed Abigail the money and smiled.
"Take this, Abigail. I know that you will have your own allowance, but I know this would help you. Don’t worry, and I’ll give you money every month to be your own allowance." Terrence sighed.
Abigail’s eyes widened. She shook her head. "That’s too much brother! I don’t need that! Mother and Father already gave me enough." Her jaw fell to the ground.
Abigail persistently refused since she already got $2000 from her parents earlier before she left.
Terrence tilted his head to the side. He took a step and took Abigail’s hands, placing all the bills on her palms. "No. If you don’t need this, then just keep it, okay? Use it for emergency if you’re scared of using it."
Abigail squinted her eyes as she looked at Terrence. "Are you sure, Brother? This is a huge amount of money."
She couldn’t believe that she was holding that much money. It made her guilty of spending it.
"Yes, Abigail. But remember to only use this for good. I will ask Natalie for her help later so that I can send you at least $2000 every month. For now, use that money first If you need it, okay?"
