Chapter 52: THE DEAD MAN

The inside of Natalie’s car was silent as they started their journey towards Terrence’s home.

Terrence, who hadn’t had enough sleep, chose to take a nap inside the car.

These past 2 days were quite busy for him as they packed Abigail’s things.

They changed his room too, and removed Abigail’s bed since she won’t be coming back for too long.

It was a decision that came personally from Abigail.

Natalie looked at the sleeping Terrence beside her. He looked so tired.

She noticed the eyebags under Terrence’s eyes. It wasn’t noticeable at first, but when you stared at it, you would notice it.

’Terrence must be so stressed,’ Natalie thought.

Natalie reached over at the back of the car. She carefully moved her body and took her jacket.

It was a reserve jacket in case she needed one.

It was a long jacket that was twice as big as her.

Natalie slowly opened the jacket. She placed it on top of Terrence, covering his body.

It was suddenly raining outside so she knew that he might be cold because of the aircon and the sudden rainy weather.

Natalie chuckled when Terrence didn’t wake up because of what she did.

Since she had nothing to do and she couldn’t have a conversation, afraid that Terrence might get woken up.

Natalie leaned on the side. ’Uncle, wake me up later. Let’s get some dinner.’ she uttered in a low voice.

’Alright, Young Miss. I will wake you up when we’re past halfway through the ride. Let’s just buy dinner once we are near Terrence’s location."

"Okay," Natalie nodded. She closed her eyes and took a nap.

In the middle of their ride, Terrence woke up out of a sudden. The first thing he did was to look around.

That was when he noticed the jacket in his arms and the head on his shoulders.

"Na–"

Terrence cut off his words when he saw Natalie sleeping.

His forehead creased. He squinted his eyes and looked at the side instead to see where they were already.

Terrence carefully looks at his phone, using his only available hand. He checked the time and saw that only an hour had passed since they left.

He noticed a message from his mother’s name. Tiana was asking when he would be back and he just replied that he was on his way home already.

He was having a hard time writing his reply because he couldn’t use his other hand.

Terrence decided to sit still. He could hear Natalie’s breathing on his neck and it was making his body feel weird.

Something was definitely rising, and it wasn’t his hands.

Terrence firmly closed his eyes. He took a deep breath and just thought of what happened today.

It’s either he will be sad or he will be horny.

Choosing the first one at this moment will be the right choice for him.

Like magic, in just a few minutes– well not a few since it took him almost 20 minutes. But, oh well, his boner disappeared.

Only men would know how painful it is to have one.

Everything was going smoothly on their ride when they encountered a problem.

The main road that was supposed to take them to the next town was suddenly closed due to an accident.

Natalie woke up in the middle of the commotion. She didn’t notice that she was already leaning on Terrence’s shoulders when she stood straight.

"What’s happening, Uncle? Are we there already?" She asked in a sleepy voice.

James shook his head. "We’re already ⅔ the way, young miss. However, the road that was leading to the next town was suddenly closed. Should we look for other routes? I heard that there’s a way in the middle of this town. However, it will be in the middle of a secluded area. It was the road back then that was left alone since the main road was built 6 gears ago."

Natalie nodded. "Sure, Uncle. That doesn’t sound like a problem at all."

Since James has been working as a driver for more than 10 years, he was familiar with all the roads.

"That’s fine with me too since it’s still not that late," Terrence seconded.

"Alright. It will take us much longer but don’t worry." James assured them as he made a U-turn. There were a lot of cars ahead of him that were just on standby. They had been waiting for hours, but the police enforcer said that it would still take 2 hours to open the road again.

Natalie and Terrence were already wide awake throughout the ride.

Terrence was looking outside. He had been surveying the road that they were taking. There were a lot of trees and old houses despite it being a part of a well-known town.

Curious about it, Terrence asked a question to James.

"How did this place become abandoned? For sure, people won’t just move because of a sudden building of a road."

James glanced at Terrence. "There was a huge news back then about a killing in this area. People were afraid that’s why they started to relocate one by one."

"Ohhh..." Terrence nodded. He was familiar with that story.

Everything was going well for them when the car suddenly screeched, putting a shock on both Terrence and Natalie.

They were lightly thrown forward caused by the sudden impact of stopping.

"Uncle James!" Natalie exclaimed in shock.

"Young Miss, I think a person is lying down in the middle of the road," James uttered in a daze

"Huh? What do you mean?" Natalie’s forehead creased.

"Wait here, Young Miss." James, in a panic, said. He removed his seatbelt and opened the door to check on it.

James was so shocked by what he saw that he froze on his spot.

Terrence, who witnessed James’ reaction, looked at Natalie.

"Wait for us here," he uttered.

"B-Bu–"

Before Natalie could even finish her words, Terrence opened the door and left too check on James.

Curious and worried about it. he quickly looked at where James was staring at.

Terrence’s eyes widened. His jaw fell to the ground.

Dried blood marks were everywhere.

And in there Terrence saw a man. He was lying down just steps away from their car. Bite marks were all over his body.
