Chapter 49: TO HER SUPRISE

It didn’t take too long before they arrived at their destination.

Terrence was surprised when their car stopped outside a humongous black gate. On top of the gate was the name of the university. Its letters were in colour gold and were shining as the sun reflected on it.

Even though Terrence was still inside the car, he couldn’t help but look around.

The whole university was so massive that he didn’t know where his eyes would stop. The gate just kept going and going.

Even though most of the buildings established in the city were already modern, the university remained different.

The university’s main building looked like a mediaeval castle that was maintained well. It hasn’t changed since its founding centuries ago.

There were other buildings surrounding it that still looked mediaeval but there were already modern touches to it. Only the main building remained the same.

Terrence glanced over at his side and saw that Natalie really did fall asleep after pretending earlier. She was sleeping soundly throughout their ride.

He chuckled before looking in front.

"Should I wake her up?" He felt guilty since Natalie looked so peaceful in her sleep.

James, who was driving the car, looked back. He nodded and replied, "Yes, you should. I’ll just talk to the van’s driver so that your sister won’t immediately go inside."

Terrence nodded. "Alright." He uttered. He looked out the window and saw that the driver of the van was starting to unload the luggage from the backside.

When James left them, Terrence focused his attention on Natalie. He stared at her for a couple of seconds. He didn’t know when he would be able to look at her like this again.

"Natalie..." Terrence placed his hand on Natalie’s shoulder, shaking her lightly. He didn’t want to shock her.

When Natalie felt something on her shoulder, her forehead creased. The moment she opened her eyes, Natalie just realized what happened.

Her eyes widened in a fraction and when she looked around, she realized they were here already.

"I fell asleep," Natalie stated. She was bewildered.

She wasn’t planning to really sleep. She thought of just closing her eyes for a couple of minutes but it got cold and comfortable.

"Where’s Uncle James?" Natalie asked when she saw that they were alone in the car.

"He went outside to talk to the other driver" Terrence answered the question.

"Ohhh," Natalie repeatedly nodded even though her brain was still a bit laggy.

Natalie, instinctively looked at the window on the side and consciously looked at her face. She checked if there were saliva on the side of her mouth, or if her hair was messy.

’Did I snore in my sleep? Oh no! What if I looked ugly and that turned off Terrence?’ Natalie problemed. She became uneasy when she thought of the possibility.

Terrence couldn’t help but chuckle when he saw what Natalie was doing. "Don’t worry. You looked pretty while you were sleeping."

Natalie’s cheeks burned when she heard Terrence’s compliment. It was all of a sudden which made her embarrassed and shy.

Natalie looked in front and saw Uncle James signalling that everything was fine already.

She faced Terrence and tried to shift the topic. She was too shy to continue the talk. Not now that her mind was still not fully awake.

"You can talk to your sister now." Natalie smiled. It was a pleasure to her that she was doing this for Terrence.

When Terrence heard it, his eyes flew to the van’s side. In there he saw how, one by one, the girls left the van, together with their items. The driver of the van, together with one more guy helped with the other heavy items.

Abigail, with James’s instruction, stayed standing on the side while the other girls were welcomed inside.

Her brows were in a straight line as she looked at the man beside her. It was her first time seeing him.

"May I know why you asked for me to stay?" Abigail nervously asked. She was terrified by the possibility that there was something wrong that’s why the guy stopped her from going inside the university.

"There is someone waiting for you," James announced. He looked at Abigail. There were no emotions on his face. "Please wait here for a couple of minutes first, Miss." he slightly bowed his head and walked away, going back to the car.

When Abigail heard of it, she was confused. She didn’t recall knowing someone from this school.

’I wonder who is that person?’ She was worried.

Abigail took a deep breath to calm herself down. She looked at her reflection from the tinted window.

She saw that her eyes were puffed from crying. It was the same with her nose and cheeks which were pink in colour.

Inside the car earlier, all of them were silently crying. The other girls were even worse than her.

Abigail was busy checking her red eyes when she noticed a man’s figure coming out of a car. It was the car that had been following them since earlier.

She got nervous when she couldn’t see clearly who it was

Abigail quickly turned around to face the person who was walking towards her direction.

Her eyes widened. "B-Brotber?" Her jaw fell to the ground.

She was so shocked that she froze on the spot. She couldn’t move or run towards her brother.

Terrence smiled and waved his hands. "Abigail," he called her name softly.

Abigail was left speechless. She couldn’t utter any words. There was a sudden flashback in her brain about her goodbye to her family earlier.

It made her tear up.

When Abigail was pulled to reality, she quickly ran to Terrence. "BROTHER!" she loudly exclaimed.

Abigail hugged Terrence tightly and just like earlier, her eyes watered. Tears started to fall on her eyes again.

Terrence could feel the sadness and longing in Abigail’s hug. It was a very tight embrace.

He couldn’t help but lightly laugh after hearing Abigail’s crying on his shoulders.

"I’m here to bid goodbye and make sure you’re safe, Abigail."
