Chapter 48: TERRENCE’S FAREWELL
Chapter 48: TERRENCE’S FAREWELL
After Abigail’s departure, Terrence’s family became silent. Tiana and Archer silently went back into their house, leaving Terrence alone outside.
Terrence stared blankly into the air for a few seconds before a sigh escaped from his lips.
’I wonder how will it be now that Abigail is away.’ he thought.
After a few minutes of standing without doing anything, Terrence checked his phone. He saw Natalie’s message telling him that she was near already.
Terrence waited patiently outside. He didn’t bother to say that he would leave, knowing that his parents’ emotions must still be unstable.
He’ll just send them a message later to inform them that he was somewhere. At least in that way, they wouldn’t be too worried.
[Terrence: Alright. I’ll wait for you]
Terrence looked around and waited patiently after he sent his reply. It didn’t take long before a familiar black car stopped in front of him.
The window went down, revealing Natalie, who was seated inside. She smiled widely at Terrence and waved her hands.
"Come in, Terrence." With enthusiasm, Natalie said.
Terrence chuckled and nodded. He went inside. That was when he realized that he had forgotten to bring the stuffed toy with him.
’I’ll just give it to Natalie later.’
"Thank you for this, Natalie," Terrence uttered out of a sudden. He just thought about it. He looked at Natalie’s face before putting on a smile on his face.
Natalie smiled back, her cheeks slightly reddened. Her heart warmed when she noticed that Terrence was genuine about it.
"You’re welcome, Terrence," Natalie answered back. She thought that coming here was worth the effort after hearing Terrence.
’This is bad,’ she thought. She knew that her feelings for Terrence were growing.
In the back of her head, she was scared that if Terrence knew about it, then his treatment of her would change.
Natalie thought that if Terrence wouldn’t be able to reciprocate her feelings, then might as well not let him know about it. At least that way it wouldn’t be awkward between the two of them.
But of course, her main goal was to make Terrence fall for her.
"The van that Abigail rode will fetch 3 more students, right?" Terrence asked to confirm it. That was what Abigail told her while they were messaging each other yesterday.
Natalie nodded. "Yes. Those 3 will be her roommates in their dorm." She answered.
Natalie personally visited the dorm that the students would be staying at. It was neat and looked fine.
Natalie spoke with her dad’s secretary about it. She made a few adjustments, such as the things that would go to each room. She also handpicked what room Terrence’s sister and her roommates would stay.
She wanted it to be the best.
"Ohhh," Terrence slowly nodded.
"Don’t worry. Your sister’s room will be good." Natalie assured Terrence. She knew that he was stressed about Abigail’s welfare.
When Terrence heard it, a sigh of relief escaped from his lips. "Thank you for that, Natalie. At least, I know that."
Natalie lightly chuckled. "You’re welcome, Terrence."
Silence ensued inside the car afterwards. Natalie kept glancing at Terrence every minute. She decided to let Terrence have his moment, knowing that he must be feeling gloomy right now.
Natalie leaned on the window. She closed her eyes and pretended to sleep. It was to give space for Terrence so that he wouldn’t be awkward by it if he wanted to show his emotions.
Growing up, Natalie was used to hearing how men should not show emotions because that would make them vulnerable.
She did not know why, but that was what society told them to do. However, she didn’t want that to be the same with Terrence.
Terrence, on the other hand, messaged his parents before putting his phone inside his pocket. He looked at the side and saw that Natalie had her eyes closed.
He couldn’t help but smile slightly.
’Is she pretending to be asleep?’ he found it cute.
It was obvious that Natalie was awake, just based on her facial features. They were a little bit stiff. If she was truly sleeping, then it should be relaxed by now.
Terrence didn’t bother to say a word. He didn’t want to point out what Natalie was doing, or he knew that she’d get embarrassed by it.
He stared in front and looked at the road they were taking. He was surprised when he noticed that in front of them was the van that Abigail had ridden earlier.
He didn’t know how it happened, but they were able to catch up with them in just minutes, even if they left much earlier compared to them.
Just like what was said earlier, the van went to 3 more houses. They were near each other, with each only being away for 10-15 minutes.
Terrence was relieved when he saw that they were all girls. At least he didn’t need to worry about Abigail having a boyfriend inside the campus.
His protectiveness as a brother was kicking in.
After leaving the final house, they started their journey towards the university that the students would be staying at. It was a prestigious school in the middle of the city.
At Terrence’s estimate, it would roughly take them about 3-4 hours just to get to the main city. And maybe another 30 minutes to get to the university.
Terrence couldn’t wait to see what it would look like. He heard a mixture of reviews regarding the university that his sister would be in.
Since it was a prestigious university, many of the reviews came to be positive.
They were saying things that the university offered quality education and connections to bigger companies. This can make applying for a job easier.
However, there were still some who said the university was just all about money. That you can pass as long as you pay the school.
’I wonder if Abigail would be able to adjust to this.’ he tilted his head to the side and looked at the houses they were passing by.
He couldn’t help but be worried.
