Chapter 47: ABIGAIL’S DEPARTURE

Chapter 47: ABIGAIL’S DEPARTURE

Everything passed by like a blur.

Today was finally the day.

It was already 7 in the morning and Abigail was scheduled to leave by 9 just like what was planned.

Eating breakfast together, Terrence’s family was silent. There was a heavy atmosphere going on around them.

The table, which used to be loud every mealtime, suddenly became quiet.

Tiana and Archer kept looking at each other. Their eyes were puffy and slightly red from crying the night before. They couldn’t utter a single word, afraid that their true feelings would come out.

It was hard to contain their feelings.

They do not want to implicate Abigail more, knowing that it must be harder for her.

"Make sure to always eat and sleep properly there, Abigail. Don’t be pressured and just do what you like." Terrence glanced at Abigail, who was eating.

He broke the silence surrounding all of them, although it didn’t help with their sadness.

Abigail glanced at Terrence. She slowly nodded. "Yes, Brother." She answered in a low tone.

Terrence sighed. He tilted his head to the side. It seems like his whole family was sad about what would happen.

He was also sad about it. However, he learned to accept what Abigail wanted.

Abigail looked around. "Are we really going to be like this? I’ll leave in 2 hours, and you all are silent." She pointed out.

She took a deep breath. It was already difficult for her to be away and now, with how her parents were acting, it was just getting more difficult.

When Tiana and Archer heard it, they put down their utensils. They secretly sighed, realizing how their actions have been affecting both Abigail and Terrence.

They put on a forced smile on their face.

"We’re sorry, Abigail." Tiana apologized dearly.

Abigail tilted her head to the side. "I just want us to all be okay when I leave, Mother. I don’t want to leave when we all are sad like this," she explained her side.

Tiana nodded and smiled. She placed her hand on top of Abigail’s hand and held onto it. She whispered. "I know."

Because of what happened, the atmosphere among them got lighter. Or was it because they had no choice but to make it lighter since that was what Abigail wanted?

After eating their breakfast, all of them went to the living room.

Tiana didn’t mind the fact that there were uncleaned dishes in the sink. What matters the most right now was to spend the last minutes with Abigail.

"Did you bring all your important things, Abigail? Make sure you don’t forget anything." Tiana reminded for the second time. She was seated on the floor, looking through the bags that Abigail would take with her.

Abigail would bring a total of 2 luggage and 1 backpack.

"Yes, Mom. I made sure that I got everything with me," Abigail answered after recalling all of her important things.

Tiana nodded. "Good." She uttered.

"Terrence get the luggage at the side," Tiana instructed her son.

Terrence, who was calmly sitting, stood up and did as he was told. He put down his phone after sending a message to Natalie asking him where she was.

His forehead creased when he saw a small piece of luggage near her parents’ room. With a question on his mind, he quickly brought the luggage to his mother.

"What is this for, mother?

"Give it to me first." Tiana tapped the ground in front of her so that Terrence knew where to put it.

"Abigail! Come here."

Abigail was fixing herself in front of the mirror when Tiana called her name.

"Yes, Mother?" She asked after going near her.

Tiana smiled. She opened the luggage, revealing a whole variety of foods to be eaten as a snack. There were some canned

goods and instant noodles. However, what caught their attention was all the pack of chips inside.

"What is all of this, Mom?" Abigail’s jaw fell to the ground.

Tiana smiled. "So that you can eat this if ever you will get hungry. What if there are times that you will need to study so late? At least with this, you can eat even after midnight."

Tiana worried that because Abigail would be on a scholarship, she would be put under a lot of pressure to study.

She bought the food so that Abigail could have something to eat at the moment.

Abigail made a face. She was happy but turned sad in just a matter of time. "Thank you for this, Mom." she sincerely uttered. Her heart warmed.

Tiana nodded before a warm smile appeared on her lips. "Anything for you, Abigail."

It wasn’t a matter of time before the school van that would fetch Abigail arrived. Standing outside their house, Terrence’s family bid their goodbye to Abigail.

Abigail, with her teary eyes, hugged each of her family members for one last time.

"I love you all," Abigail sobbed.

Tiana and Archer smiled at Abigail. There were tears in their eyes. They nodded and replied back.

"We love you too, Abigail. Take care of yourself."

Terrence waved his hands at Abigail. "Take care of yourself, Abigail." he hugged her.

Unlike the rest of his family members, Terrence wasn’t in tears. Maybe it was because there would still be some time before he would be apart from Abigail.

Right now, he can still handle his emotions.

All of this was a hard decision for all of them. But Terrence knew at the same time, that this was an important thing for their family.

"You too, Brother." Abigail bitterly smiled. She glanced over at the back and saw that the van’s driver was already waiting for her to board inside.

"I-I’ll go now, guys." Abigail slowly bid goodbye. She reluctantly turned around, afraid that if she stayed more, then her emotions would get the better of her.

Abigail went inside the van, not looking back. She hugged tightly the backpack that was in her hands and cried silently in there.

She didn’t know what would happen to her, now that she left.

Abigail was just hoping for the best.
