Chapter 44: STUFFED TOY
Chapter 44: STUFFED TOY
"Brother! I want those!" Abigail raised her hands like a child, pointing to a teddy bear as they passed by a store.
Terrence’s forehead creased. "What would you even do with that? You’re not a child anymore."
Abigail pouted. "But I want those still. Pleaseee~?"
Terrence tilted his head to the side. He took a deep breath before answering. "Fine."
"Yay!" Jumping in joy, Abigail quickly pulled Terrence’s hands so that they could go inside the store.
It was a store that was selling different kinds of stuff toys and teddy bears.
The designs vary from one another. Some were designed for kids while there were ones designed to fit all ages. Each of them has various sizes.
"What do you want?" Terrence asked as they walked around inside. Since it was a small store, there were only 3 employees. 1 was working at the counter while the other 2 were walking around, assisting customers.
Abigail looked around before pointing to something. She smiled widely before getting a medium-sized panda. It was 2 feet long.
"That all?" Terrence asked once again to see if Abigail wanted to buy more.
Abigail nodded. "Yes, Brother." She enthusiastically answered.
"Alright."
Terrence and Abigail walked towards the counter. While walking, Terrence caught a glimpse of a small stuffed toy. It was a small white bear that looked fluffy.
When he saw it, Terrence was reminded of Natalie.
"Wait here. I’ll just quickly get something." Terrence informed Abigail out of a sudden.
Abigail’s eyes widened when she heard it. "Broth—" but before she could even complain, she was left alone by Terrence.
Abigail became slightly worried when she saw Terrence going somewhere right. She looked ahead of her. She was already second in line. She hoped that her brother would come back to her sooner or else she didn’t know what to do.
Abigail’s worry increased as minutes passed. The person on the counter just left and now she was already the next one.
She anxiously looked around. She has no money with her.
Looking back, Abigail was about to let the person behind her go first when she saw Terrence coming back from her peripheral vision.
"Here, add this." Terrence tossed the small stuffed toy in his hand towards Abigail.
Abigail, who was not prepared, caught it in a panic.
"Brother!" in a low voice, Abigail exclaimed.
Terrence laughed when he saw Abigail’s reaction. "Tell the cashier to pack that separately. I’m going to give that to someone."
Abigail grinned. She raised her right brow and teasingly looked at Terrence. "Who, brother?"
Terrence glared at Abigail for a couple of seconds before smiling. "That’s for me to know and for you to find out."
"Brother!"
"It’s your turn now, Abigail." Terrence pointed at the back when he saw that the person in front of them just left.
Abigail’s eyes widened. She quickly turned around and smiled. She placed the two stuffed toys on the counter. "Please pack them separately."
The person on the counter did as what Abigail told him. He placed the price tags closer to the scanner before putting them inside a separate brown paper bag.
"The total is $514."
"Huh? Why is it expe—"
"Here." Abigail’s words were cut off when Terrence spoke. He gave the guy six $100 bills.
"Brother wh—"
"Shh, Abigail." Terrence smiled at Abigail. He faced the cashier guy and waited for his change.
[You gained 40 EXP]
[You earned $721]
Looking at the notifications, Terrence was reminded that he still hadn’t leveled up even after accumulating a lot of EXP earlier.
"Here, Miss. I hope you enjoy your purchase with us." The cashier guy bid him goodbye when Terrence and Abigail left the store.
Abigail slightly hit Terrence’s shoulders as they went outside. "You didn’t tell me it was that expensive, Brother!"
Terrence chuckled. "It was your fault for not looking at the price tag when the stuffed toy was in your hands already." He pointed it out.
"Oh right... Now I feel guilty of spending too much."
Terrence placed his hand on top of Abigail’s head. He patted it. "No worries, lil sis. Now, let’s go find Mom and Dad so we can have dinner and rest. You had a long day today."
Abigail smiled and nodded. She used her left hand to hold the brown paper bag. "I’ll hold this brother since you’re holding your gifts for me."
"Good. Now go call Mom." Terrence instructed.
Abigail obediently obeyed him. "Okayyy. Wait for me here then." She answered before stepping to the side for a moment to find a silent place to call.
When Terrence was alone. He went to the side, leaning against the wall. He opened his stats to check and update it.

"Brother! Mom and Dad are in a fast food nearby. Let’s go there already. I’m hungry." Appearing out of a sudden, Abigail came back running. She was out of breath as she said those words.
Fixing the way he stood up, Terrence nodded at Abigail since he was already done. "Let’s go."
Abigail waited for Terrence to come closer before the two of them walked together.
"Brother, don’t you think of getting a girlfriend?" Abigail asked suddenly.
Terrence’s forehead formed a straight line. "Where did you get that?"
Abigail shrugged her shoulders. "It’s just that, I haven’t seen you around girls that much. You haven’t been into a relationship too."
"There will be a right time for that, Abigail." Terrence glanced at Abigail. "You can’t just force things when it comes to that matter."
"Ohhh..." Abigail slowly nodded her head. Even though she doesn’t understand how it works, she chose to remain silent since she was already hungry.
Terrence and Abigail were peacefully walking. They were already near when Terrence stopped walking.
