Chapter 43: ABIGAIL’S REALIZATION

Chapter 43: ABIGAIL’S REALIZATION

Terrence stared at Abigail after she said her answer. He slightly smiled to assure Abigail when he saw how she looked back at him in fear.

Abigail sighed in relief when she saw his brother smiling. ’I thought my brother would be mad at my decision,’ she thought. She didn’t want to have another fight with her brother.

Melisa smiled in victory after hearing Abigail’s answer. "That’s good, Miss Abigail! You made the right choice!" she put her hands together.

"Now, all you need to do is just sign the papers, and everything will go on smoothly." Melisa pointed at the folders on the table.

Tiana and Archer looked at each other. They nodded at one another. They were very happy right now.

Archer opened the folder in front of them. Since he was working as an office worker, he has seen different documents all the time. He scanned through the documents. When he saw that there were no suspicious things in the contract they were signing, he gave a sign to Tiana.

"Let’s sign now," Archer uttered before picking a pen on the table and signing on his designated spot.

After him, Tiana did the same thing,

"Let me see it, Abigail," Terrence uttered to Abigail when he saw how she was skimming through the contract.

Abigail nodded and quickly gave Terrence the folder in her hands. "Here, Brother."

Terrence looked at the words written on the paper. He read every clause and statement. Even though he wanted to disagree with some of them, he remained silent.

They were the things mentioned before, such as Abigail moving to places and the no communication for 3 months.

"Are you sure about this already, Abigail?" Terrence glanced at Abigail after he was done reading the contract.

Abigail slowly nodded. "I am, Brother."

Terrence sighed and nodded back. He gave back the paper to Abigail. "You can sign it then."

Abigail smiled at Terrence. She picked up the pen that was on the side of her folder and signed the paper with her name and signature.

She put the paper back in the folder and returned it to Principal Melisa afterwards.

Melisa smiled when she received the folder from Abigail and her parents. She stacked them together and clapped her hands.

"I’m glad you made this decision. I’m sure Abigail will succeed and be much more happy because of it." Melisa stood up and offered her hands.

"The government will surely be happy about this."

Tiana and Archer shook hands with Melisa. They were smiling.

"Thank you for this, Principal." Abigail smiled as well as she shook hands with Melisa.

Melisa smiled back at Abigail. "Thank you, too."

Terrence looked around and saw that his family was staring at him.

"Ohh," Terrence stepped forward when he realised it. Even though he wasn’t willing to, he shook hands with Melisa.

"U-Uhm, thank you too." She stuttered when their eyes met. Melisa’s heart thumped as she touched Terrence’s hand. It felt different... it was warm.

Terrence just nodded and smiled before letting go of Melisa’s hands.

"Let’s go now? I have a surprise for all of you." Terrence turned around and looked at his family.

When Abigail heard the word ’surprise’, her eyes twinkled. "What is it, brother?" she asked like a little girl.

"You’ll know soon. Let’s go now and have an early dinner."

Abigail nodded before staring at their parents. "Let’s goooo~"

Terrence’s whole family respectfully bid goodbye to Melisa before going away. They proceeded to go to the guard’s house, where Terrence kept all the bags he had bought.

He gave the guard a secret tip before taking a lot of them. When he went out of the guard house, his family saw all the bags in his hands.

"Oh my! What is all of this?" Tiana’s mouth fell to the ground when she saw familiar brands. Most of them were expensive and would cost them almost a month of salary.

Terrence chuckled when he saw all of their reaction. Even Abigail was frozen in her place when she saw all of them.

"Where did you get all of this money, Terrence?" Tiana curiously asked. She went closer to Terrence and scanned the bags in his hand.

Terrence just smiled at Tiana. "That’s a secret for me to keep, Mother."

Tiana’s face turned serious. "What if you’re doing something illegal?" her voice raised in a high-pitched tone. She squinted her eyes and looked at Terrence. "Are you doing drugs? Or are you selling one?

"Mom, I promise. Whatever I’m doing right now is legal." Terrence sighed. "and I’m not doing any of those things you mentioned. So, you should not worry about a thing, Mother. Don’t you trust me?"

"Just make sure, Terrence. We don’t want you to get jailed for that." Tiana tilted her head to the side.

"Yes, Mom."

Abigail quickly ran towards Terrence. "What’s for me, Brother?" she asked. Her eyes were sparkling.

Terrence smiled. She gave Abigail three paper bags. "That’s for you. I bought you some things that you can use when you study."

Abigail’s eyes shined as she opened the paper bags. She saw bags, perfumes, lotions, and some make-up in them.

"You’re the best, Brother!" Abigail exclaimed. She excitedly jumped.

Terrence chuckled when he saw what Abigail did. "Stop what you’re doing, Abigail. It’s embarrassing."

Abigail chuckled as she stopped jumping around. She looked at Terrence and smiled widely. She nodded and hugged Terrence all of a sudden.

"Thank you for this, Brother," Abigail uttered in a low voice.

She raised her head to look at Terrence before tilting her head to the right side to look at her parents, who were watching them.

That’s when everything sunk into her brain. She almost wanted to go back to Principal Melisa’s office to withdraw her scholarship application.

"Brother, take care of Mom and Dad." Abigail’s eyes turned blurry. Tears were forming in them.

Terrence nodded as he hugged Abigail back. "I will, Abigail."

"I will be gone for a long time..." Abigail sighed. When she thought she was happy because of the big opportunity she got, she realized what she needed to give up just to have it.

In two days, she will leave her family. Her communication with them was still uncertain, after she remembered the clause about the 3-month rule of communication in the contract.

Abigail looked down. A tear fell into her eyes.

"Brother..." A small sob escaped from her mouth.

"Yes?"

"I’ll miss you, Brother. Mom and Dad, too."
