Chapter 919: Chapter 340 Sky Goddess, I’m Coming In_3

Chris was trapped in her emotions, leaning on Wayne’s shoulder to catch up on sleep.

Wayne set down the map, glanced at Chris, and knew that the Holy Grail could activate the Divine Blood. Although not as quick as the Laws washing effect, it had the advantage of being safe and easy.

How exactly to operate it was still a problem, he would study it slowly when he returned to Lundan.

...

The ruins were located at the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, a desolate place with no signs of civilization in sight, so remote that not even a ghost could be seen.

Without people, needless to say there were no roads.

The fact that Austin was able to find this place and bring out the Twilight Deadlock showed how much he wanted to advance.

Wayne asked Mona to stay in the car to take care of Chris. His pace was quick, and he would be back before long, not taking much time.

With the detailed address provided by Austin, Wayne found the entrance to the ruins in less than half an hour by following landmarks.

The ruins were dilapidated, the walls weathered and worn by the years, collapsing and eroding away from their former glory. Only from a higher perspective could one overlook the sizable footprint of an ancient city.

Wild grass grew in abundance, and the cold wind blew from all directions, carrying the unique scent of the wilderness, rustling against the relic’s stone walls.

Wayne ventured deeper into the ruins and saw some engravings and patterns on the walls, overgrown with dead branches and leaves, too vague to make out their original form.

The clearest of them depicted a sacrificial scene.

Under the leadership of the High Priest, believers knelt around the altar, worshipping the heavens above, hands raised in prayer for the descent of the deities. The sky above was overcast, and two vast eyes gazed down at the site of the sacrifice.

This was a worship of an ancient faith, unable to correspond with the mainstream beliefs of the God-chosen Continent, and not any deity known to Wayne.

"Another deity that has sunk into the river of history..."

Wayne closed his eyes, his thoughts drifting as he searched for the entrance to the ruins, as Austin had mentioned.

His body dissolved into foam, seeping through the cracks of the ruins and into the underground.

His clothes and shoes reshaped by thought, ready to disintegrate and reassemble at any moment, achieving the efficiency of changing outfits in a second, strictly managing his time.

More than ten meters underground, a pitch-black corridor led to the depths. The foam reassembled into a Tentacle Monster, climbing the walls and moving at a surprising speed.

Wayne toured the underground ruins, checking every corner and over a hundred rooms both large and small. It was sizable but not overly large, many storerooms used for supplies, resembling an underground shelter.

At the end of the corridor, dozens of stone walls were forcibly pierced. Wayne reverted to human form, brushed his hand over the broken stone gates, and surmised that these dozens of walls shattered instantaneously, as if they were broken with a single breath.

He mimicked the motion of swinging a fist, roughly understanding the situation.

Obviously, Austin couldn’t accomplish this. Megan might be capable, but given Austin’s caution, he would not allow Megan to do so to prevent magical traps within the ruins.

Therefore, before Austin arrived at the ruins, someone else had already been there.

Bold and brazen, Wayne passed through the dozens of stone gates, arriving at the deepest layer of the ruins. This underground space was dark and vast, shaped like a hemispherical fortress, the walls inscribed with myriad Magic Array Diagrams, all rendered ineffective by violent destruction.

Wayne snapped his fingers, and Fire Elements transformed into fireflies, scattering in all directions, lighting the entire fortress.

There was nothing.

His thoughts picked up an anomaly in the corner of the wall.

A broken stone sculpture violently smashed to pieces, with its stones beneath appearing to have been recently turned over.

Wayne simultaneously reconstructed the stone sculpture with his thoughts, piecing it together like a puzzle to its original form. He also unearthed the skeleton below it, which seemed to be female, based on the bone structure.

"A rich scent of Darkness..."

Looking at the skeleton, Wayne guessed she was the previous Dark Knight, having entered this place on a Divine Decree, and then...

Wayne’s gaze shifted to the statue, whose robe covered the entire body, revealing a faintly discernible delicate outline. It appeared to be another Goddess.

In the war of faith, many deities fell. This Goddess lingered on for a while, eking out an existence in this place. When the Dark Knight arrived, conflict erupted between them, and both met their end.

The Dark Goddess guided Austin to this place. He acquired the Twilight Deadlock, buried the former knight’s bones, and gained a twisted form of tutelage—Dark Games—favored by the head of their teaching.

Because Anastasia was so perfect—her beauty, temperament, and morals unassailable—Wayne’s opinion of the Dark Church was elevated; therefore, he didn’t dislike it personally.

There were also the Dark Elves stationed at the Icebound Continent; among the Five Churches, only the Dark Church was committed to the sealing task, and the others avoided it like the plague.

The Death Church fled the fastest, ignoring even the God-chosen Knight.

Perhaps there were underlying reasons, but based on what Wayne had observed, among his companions, the Dark Church contributed the most, sacrificed the most, and performed the best.

However, when it came to the Dark Church’s ultimate boss, the Dark Goddess, Wayne’s opinion plummeted drastically.

That old woman was no good!

Whether it was the Dark Goddess thoughtlessly selling Anastasia or ordering the Dark Envoy to force Austin’s growth, Wayne struggled to view her favorably.

His retribution towards the Dark Goddess, by having her assume his form, was a form of revenge.

The grudges of Slyphy and Veronica, regardless of whether they were hurt, Wayne took note. He used this piece of his thoughts to reclaim some interest first, so that by thirty years at the Themes River, compounded, he’d make the Dark Goddess pay off her debt in full.

Wayne snorted disdainfully and waved the skeleton into his Personal Space. Setting the Dark Goddess aside, he had a very positive perception of the Dark Church. In light of Anastasia’s sake, he offered to bury the former Dark Knight, intending to take her to the West District Grand Cemetery for a proper burial.
