Chapter 920: Chapter 340 Sky Goddess, I’m Coming In_4

"Turns out God-chosen Knights can die too. I thought they were so strong, with nearly demigod combat power, they could just swagger around on the God-chosen Continent," Wayne looked toward the nameless statue, his thoughts once again scattering, searching for treasures in the vicinity.

He had guessed what the Dark Goddess had referred to as resources, and if he wasn’t wrong, they should be similar to obelisks, representing the inheritance of a deity.

Good stuff, very suitable for the nature of The Book of Greed.

Wayne searched for a long time but found nothing, his thoughts delving beneath the statue to no avail.

He switched his approach and looked upward, since there was nothing beneath his feet, it could only be above him.

A flash of brilliance in Wayne’s eyes, his body turned into white foam and dissolved, a thunderous surge of pale color swept downward, wave after wave escalating, and in no time the entire underground fortress was filled.

The magic arrays on the walls, violently destroyed, were now repaired by Wayne. He injected magic power to light up the array diagrams, awakening this ancient relic that had laid dormant for a thousand years.

Countless magic arrays twinkled high above, Wayne returned to human form and looked up, feeling as if he stood on the ground gazing at the firmament, stars stretching endlessly across the sky, engendering a sense of awe and insignificance.

His knees even went weak for a moment.

"Pretentious deities!"

Wayne snorted coldly, straightening his legs. He hadn’t ever knelt before a living goddess, let alone a dead one, unless the latter lay face down with her back to him first.

The myriad stars shone bright, halos gently cascading down, ribbons fluttering in the air, amidst the splendor a cloud-covered Heavenly Palace was projected.

Deep within the sea of clouds, the grand Heavenly Palace stood tall and majestic, exuding enchanting radiance, shrouded mist adding to its obscurity, yet preventing a clear view of its true face.

The sky was alive with anomalies, lightning, torrential rain, hurricanes, and other natural disasters flitted by, and as the Heavenly Palace’s silhouette faded, a pair of eyes opened deep within the clouds.

Those purple eyes carried boundless magic power, surrounded by arcs of electricity, solemn and majestic, looking down upon Wayne from on high, devoid of any emotional fluctuation.

But they had a ripple of thought.

Wayne clearly sensed a thought awakening around him, and with it, a spatial fluctuation emitted from the air, hinting at another world hidden behind the clouds.

The eyes shone with a round of light, saw the reshaped statue next to Wayne, and seemed to wear a satisfied smile.

The clouds trembled, thunder exploded, and a voice of supreme authority boomed.

"Devout visitor, I am the Atmosphere Manipulator, the Sky Goddess. Speak your name, and you shall receive divine power, to walk the mortal world in my stead."

"Bruce."

Wayne gave the false name he often used.

His real name was out of the question; who knew what these ancient beings would do with it—like the Lord of Envy from Hell, might he curse him for outsmarting the Archangel because of envy?

It wasn’t out of the realm of possibility.

"Bruce..."

The Sky Goddess slowly pronounced the name, a thread of thought unraveling, twirling around Wayne in a whirlwind: "Open your heart and mind, embrace the rebirth of divine power, from this moment on you shall be my Knight in the mortal world, controlling the atmosphere and wielding thunder..."

Wayne’s brow raised as he sensed a dominating yet frail thought orbiting him, recalling the previously deceased Dark Knight, he somewhat understood what was happening.

If the goddess wished to enter, then so be it, but let’s make one thing clear, there’s no leaving once you’re in!

"Goddess, come forth, I am ready."

Wayne raised his arms, closed his eyes, his expression brimming with excitement.

The Sky Goddess’ thought couldn’t wait to rush into Wayne’s body. She was too weak; first grievously injured in the divine battles and then dealt a heavy blow by the former Dark Knight. Already terrible circumstances had worsened, urgently needing a living body to anchor her thoughts.

At this moment, gender was inconsequential; survival was paramount, picking and choosing was for those who lived.

Three seconds later, a scream from the goddess rang out, the remaining thoughts severing contact in an instant, retreating back to her haven to lick her wounds.

"You’re already here, what’s the rush? Stay and chat with me a bit longer!"

Wayne laughed heartily, his upper body, raised arms and all, turning into foam as he darted towards the world hidden behind the spatial fluctuations.

"Cackling————"

"Sky Goddess, I’m coming in!"
