Chapter 786: Chapter 307: The Ancestral Laws Are Unchangeable

The crowd glared at the traitor.

They wished they could replace him!

Fierst had a thick skin, not ashamed but rather proud, and as soon as he opened his mouth, it was "Long live the Queen," willingly serving as a lackey standing by Douglas’s side.

While showing great loyalty, he turned his gaze to the Death Knight, thinking to himself how interesting this was.

"Members of the Tulip Family, the Queen has extended a banquet invitation to you. Is anyone planning to miss it?"

Douglas stepped forward two paces, trailing behind the Undead Warhorse by half a body’s length to express his respect for the Knight, casting cold glances at the captives who had lost their fighting spirit.

It’s good to lean on a big tree for shade, and even a Legendary Mage must stand obediently in the presence of a God-chosen Knight.

It wasn’t that they were utterly without the power to resist. Borne and Bedford both doubted more than once whether Lundan’s Death Knight and Paris’s Death Knight were the same entity, but the cost of testing that was too high, and they were unwilling to be at the forefront.

A Legendary Mage who believed in freedom could be understood.

In contrast, a Legendary Mage from The Church would dare to risk their life at a critical moment.

Seeing that the crowd dared not meet his righteous gaze, Douglas’s desire for power deepened again, fantasizing about how he would wield the strength of a God-chosen Knight or an even greater power.

The brief fantasy came and went quickly, and he sobered up, knowing that one must eat one bite at a time and not take steps too broad – now was not the time to rush.

"Since none of you object, I would trouble you to arrive on time for the banquet, and don’t be late. That day is crucial, concerning the future of your families."

Douglas gave the signal, and several Golden Mages made their entrance, handing out invitations to the banquet one by one.

That included Fierst, the turncoat, who also received an invitation.

Ten minutes later, on Douglas’s command, two newly-arrived Deputy Ministers stepped forward, one on each side, and took custody of Borne and Bedford.

Regardless, these two were Legendary Mages, and with two days left before the banquet, a lot could be done in two days; they couldn’t be allowed to wander around outside.

Borne reluctantly donned the shackles and was sealed by the Frankish without resistance.

Before, when Plank had been sealed and beaten, Borne had mocked him without restraint. As fortunes turn, it was now his turn to be sealed.

With the abilities of a Legendary Mage, such a seal would not have troubled him, but the situation was already hopeless. Struggling was meaningless; if he did not submit, the Death Knight would ensure his dignity.

Compared with that, being shackled and sealed was almost a kindness from the Queen, a relatively good outcome.

Wayne, mounted on the Undead Warhorse and holding the Shadowmare, saw that the situation in the room was settled and looked forward even more to the banquet in two days.

The Queen, are you so sure you have this in the bag?

Take your time, the best is yet to come!

As the portal opened and the Death Knight was about to leave, Douglas hastily handed over the banquet invitation. If he didn’t do it now, he would have to make a special trip to the Grand Cemetery in the West District tonight.

And then his rear would hurt again.

The invitation was handwritten by the Queen herself. Wayne glanced at it and waved his hand, corrupting it with Death Essence.

As a false God-chosen Knight, he couldn’t quickly grow as strong as Austin. To fully harness the power of the Shadowmare, he needed to build upon his own strength.

The Hexagram, the Silver Crucifix Stage—Wayne’s Death Knight vest system was average in combat strength, not strong enough for the upper ranks but more than sufficient for the lower ones. Facing a Legendary Mage was very tough; when a Legendary Mage activated their Life Force Field, he had to rely on The Book of Greed to secure a win.

Not anymore. A Golden Mage could be considered powerful; with the perfectly balanced Golden Triangle, and that strength at his back, Wayne could greatly harness the power of the Shadowmare.

Now, he wouldn’t panic even if he went to Paris to challenge the Headless Knight one-on-one!

Of course, that was just a thought. The Paris Underground Great Tomb was not just home to the Headless Knight, but also a host of devils. He had plans, but wasn’t ready to act immediately.

"Tell the Queen, I will be there on time."

The Undead Warhorse stepped through the portal, and the tattered cloak of Death Essence disappeared into the darkness.

With the departure of the Death Knight, the heavy atmosphere eased, and everyone let out a sigh of relief.

Especially the two new Deputy Ministers.

Anick and Shati were indeed Franks, talented but without avenues for advancement, the struggling lower class secretly supported by the Windsor Royal Family, achieving what they had today.

Born in Frank, they had heard about the powerful Death Knight dwelling in the Paris Underground Great Tomb, whose incredible strength had caused chaos in the magic circles of Frank.

All sorts of churches could intervene in Paris, but none dared to sweep through the Underground Great Tomb. Over time, this led to the chaotic situation in Paris today.

The Minister of the Magic Department for Windsor was the Queen; for Frank...

There was no Minister.

Several Deputy Ministers of different faiths tried to work together, each with veto power, which made it apparent how chaotic that side was.

...

Ultimately, the Queen did not completely annihilate the Tulip Family, at least not physically. Once Borne and Bedford were taken away, the remaining rabble dispersed.

Holding their invitations, they swore to reform and pledged to hand over their power once they returned home, to be utterly loyal to the Queen without a hint of another thought. If the Queen told them to face east, they would never look west; if the Queen commanded them to fight Frank, they would never bare their teeth at Prussia.

Douglas sneered at this scene, disembarking from the ship and leading his followers back to Buckingham Palace to report.

Queen Sophia had entrusted Douglas entirely with the task of reorganizing the Tulip Family, no longer involving herself, but she had one condition: where possible, there should be no bloodshed, and physically, the Tulip Family could not be allowed to disappear.
