Chapter 606: Chapter 255: Elemental Mantra, Dragon Knight’s Mount_3

Veronica shouldn’t be sad, he was just practicing his skills outside, casually playing with Saina.

"Mr. Mula, I have an inconvenient request to make."

Wayne scratched his head, "You may not believe what I’m about to say, but some time ago, I was the victim of an assassination attempt at the Church headquarters. I shouldn’t be telling you this, but..."

"I understand what you mean, and I believe something did happen before."

Mula shook his head, wanting to say something but eventually giving up. Instead, he said, "Don’t worry, the Elemental Mantra will protect you."

"There’s one more thing..."

Wayne described the situation in the Misty Hidden Forest, his expression becoming gloomy, "I want to take them out, to give them a place of rest, but Teacher Saina told me that the undead can’t leave the Misty Hidden Forest, which is the property of the Church. Unless I can become a God-chosen Knight, I won’t have the right to do so."

"Is this, this the reason you want to become a God-chosen Knight?"

"Yes, they are too pitiful."

"..."

Mula was deeply moved, said nothing, and patted Wayne’s shoulder hard, "Young man, hold on to this pure heart, but remember, naive kindness can bring nightmares. Don’t just give away your goodwill, it can be exploited by schemers."

"Thank you for your guidance."

...

The door opened, and the eagerly waiting few immediately stepped forward.

Mula had his arm around Wayne’s shoulder, laughing and joking, ignoring the other expectant gazes, and gave Gavin a thumbs-up.

Well done!

Gavin gave a slight smile, lifted the wine jug, and drank it all. This was the best news he had heard in recent years, proving his discernment and bringing him great satisfaction.

"Mr. Mula, did candidate Wayne succeed?"

Pope Ludwig asked respectfully, his intuition told him it was very likely a success, but he still hoped for a different answer.

"Wayne will become a Naturalist Knight after me."

Mula was concise, extinguishing the small flame of hope in the Pope’s heart. Then, he surveyed the few present with a grave voice, "You all are the Church’s highest-ranking officials. I hope you will keep the secret, not gamble with your futures. Death is truly frightening!"

"Please rest assured, Mr. Mula. I swear to the Goddess, no one will leak the secret of the knightly inheritance."

The blunt threat made the Pope and the Great Prophet nod repeatedly, feeling despondent. Despite their heartache, they pretended to be joyful, congratulating Wayne and looking forward to the Church’s future.

It’s hard to say what the Church’s future will be like, but the Great Prophet Tubie saw his own future, squatting in the Prophet Hall, toiling day and night.

It is too hard for him!

Pope Ludwig felt even worse, just looking at the gleaming eyes of Saina next to him let him know that this woman was already plotting.

Life is not worth it, grab some things, pack up, and get ready to report to the Divine Nation.

Quickly, it must be done before Wayne becomes a true God-chosen Knight, otherwise...

Ludwig cursed the useless ones silently, Vigil and Sercy were the disgrace of the Magic Realm, two Golden Mages ambushed and attempted to assassinate him, but they failed to kill even a Silver Mage.

Ludwig’s smile remained unchanged, still congratulating Wayne on his bright future. He wanted to say something more but was blocked by Saina’s intervening figure.

Pah, vile woman, this time you’re just lucky!

"There’s another thing, about the Misty Hidden Forest..."

Mula brought up the failed Philosopher’s Stone, demanding it in the name of testing the inheritor. Ludwig was about to say something when Saina took a quick step toward the direction of the Church headquarters.

"So be it, let’s arrange it that way."

Mula decided on the spot, not wanting to stay with the Pope and the Great Prophet, and also showing indifference toward Saina. The former two, after a few polite words and disappointed expressions, left in dismay.

Saina ran fast, feeling the relief of surviving a calamity, only then noticing her clothes were soaked with cold sweat.

Others might not know what Wayne was up to, but she was painfully aware, fearing that Wayne would expose himself during the inheritance ceremony. If that happened, Wayne would surely want her to cover his retreat while he alone challenged the Naturalist Knight, the Pope, the Great Prophet...

Just the thought was terrifying. He’d be a dead man for sure!

Saina regretted everything and wished that Wayne would give her a chance for an honest heart-to-heart.

To heck with being like Veronica, she wanted to be Hefei.

Mula had a brief chat with Gavin, explaining that his duties called and he couldn’t stay long. He made plans to come back and play cards with Gavin before vanishing hastily into the woods.

By the looks of it, he planned to head to the Icebound Continent on foot.

The villa.

Wayne, dressed in Life Armor and holding the Elemental Mantra, struck a few poses on the spot.

Veronica, looking at him, had stars in her eyes. Mentioning the Sun and Moonlight Knights was beyond her; as a disciple of the Nature Goddess, she only knew about the Naturalist Knight.

Seeing Wayne become the Knight heir, the future God-chosen Knight, she was both excited and in awe, her face flushing with joy.

But soon after, she was speechless.

The fact that a social reject could become God-chosen – the Goddess’s taste was questionable at best!

Goddess, if you’ve been fooled by a social reject’s diary, just blink.

Before Wayne could strike his final pose, the designated mount appeared in the villa’s garden. Saina, holding a semi-transparent gray stone, was dazzled by Wayne’s knightly appearance and found it somewhat breathtaking.

The God-chosen Knight had really done it...

Saina still couldn’t believe it, as if she were dreaming.

Whoosh!

Veronica spread her arms out protectively in front of Wayne, blocking Saina’s wandering gaze.

Somehow, Veronica felt that Saina’s look was dangerous. She knew all too well what it meant for a disciple of faith to have the God-chosen Knight before them.

It was a ticket, a free pass to enter the bedroom, an offer no believer could resist.

Suddenly, Veronica felt overwhelmed. With society’s rejects becoming more remarkable, her competition seemed to increase.

Like the one before her, Veronica thought, eyeing Saina and detecting the word "predator" in the slits of her eyes.

Shameless. He’s your student’s student, already betrothed, no less!

Saina: "..."

This girl was hopeless, totally beyond salvation. Wake up, the man behind you could even deceive a goddess.

"Stop making a fuss, you look like you’ve just seen Willy," Wayne said as he patted Veronica’s blonde locks and shot Saina a meaningful look. She opened up the Dark Domain and, along with the armored Naturalist Knight, stepped inside.

Veronica wanted to follow, but Saina stopped her with a smile that was breathtakingly beautiful, leaving Veronica with the slim silhouette of her disappearing figure.

The Dark Domain closed, and the voice of the bad teacher rang out, "Be good, Veronica, go back and do your homework. I need to discuss some grown-up matters with Wayne."

Veronica: (glaring intensively)

Hefei oh Hefei, look at this teacher you’ve found – failing to pick a husband is one thing, but failing at choosing a teacher has doomed your daughter!
