Chapter 231: Chapter 130: Hell is Complicated, the Human Path is Even More Treacherous
"What are you two doing?"
At Outpost Three, the Thousand-Eyed Demon berated Wayne and Jeliff.
He hadn’t noticed when his two promising subordinates started a brawl, nearly coming to blows.
"I keep you to bite others, not for you to fight amongst yourselves!"
Loyalty does not equal unity.
As a Devil, the Thousand-Eyed Demon understood this very well. Hell was complicated, and the ways of the human world even more treacherous—a truth applicable everywhere.
He didn’t mediate between the two hungry dogs or make them shake hands and make peace. He couldn’t care less about balance and was too lazy to make the effort.
Not necessary. Not worthwhile.
The Thousand-Eyed Demon had only one demand: before the plan was successfully completed, no one should act recklessly. After that, the two dogs could bite as much as they wanted.
To bite to death was no concern of his; he promised not to intervene and would even clap and cheer.
At that moment, the merciless nature of the Devil was fully displayed.
Wayne kept his head low, his posture obedient, while Jeliff also refrained from so much as a gasp until the Thousand-Eyed Demon left. Only then did they gaze at each other.
Jeliff: This isn’t over!
Wayne: So what if it isn’t? There’s still time to apologize. Don’t force me to make you kneel and beg.
Jeliff activated a portal and left. Wayne glanced at the Alchemy Array; Hell’s red lips had feasted to their fill, now sound asleep and even snoring loudly.
Flesh crafted, the Corpse Demon began to take shape.
"This is so twisted!"
Wayne opened a portal and left, having been busy all night. He hurried home to remove his makeup and take Chris to school.
Some, like Master Wayne, would interact with socialites during the day and with fans at night, sleeping only one hour still brimming with energy.
He couldn’t do that, feeling drowsy in the car, eventually leaning his closed eyes onto Chris’s shoulder.
The black luxury car pulled up at the school gate. Butler Philark glanced at the rearview mirror, saying nothing, while Chris, wanting to wake up the dead weight on her shoulder, opened her mouth but ultimately didn’t have the heart to do so.
Let him sleep five more minutes.
Two hours later, Wayne opened his eyes and smacked his forehead, "Sorry, Chris, I’ve been so busy these past few days; I haven’t had much rest."
With that, he chided, "Philark, why didn’t you wake me? We’ve been delayed so long, and now Chris is late for school."
Well done. Keep it up next time!
"Wayne, do you need to go out every night?" Chris asked, puzzled.
"Yeah, someone was following you recently, and I’ve been uneasy, investigating this matter." Wayne replied offhandedly.
Chris felt a warmth in her heart. In recent days, Wayne had been following her to and from school, running around at night for her, sacrificing his sleep.
"Thanks..."
"No need to mention it, I don’t have many friends; it’s the least I can do."
"Still, thank you. Remember to rest on time at night and don’t run yourself ragged. I’ve already asked the Church to help investigate those who were following you." Chris smiled gently, straightened the wrinkles on her clothing, and stepped out of the car.
"Let’s go, Philark. I need to catch up on some sleep when I get back."
"Understood."
Philark pretended to see nothing, expressing no opinion on the Master’s three-timing antics. It was not infidelity; the Master had always only liked women, and in high society, that was already a praiseworthy virtue.

That night.
Windsor Library.
The Windsor Library was the largest in Lundan and one of the biggest academic libraries on the God-chosen Continent, with a collection exceeding a hundred million volumes—a virtual sea of knowledge.
Wayne, covered head to toe in black, snuck in according to the marks on the map and arrived at the top of the special collections library.
Someone was waiting for him—glasses, red lips, black stockings, short skirt, high heels, and brunette wavy hair. If not Mona, then who?
"Why are you here?"
Wayne spoke discontentedly. As he ascended the stairs, he had caught the scent. Nuns wore less and less cloth, and their perfume became increasingly tempting. She must have bought new clothes and cosmetics these past few days.
That money... can it be expensed through the Holy See’s accounts?
"Master, I came to inscribe the Magic Array for you. It’s better I do the grunt work."
If you do all the work, then what’s left for me?
Wayne rolled his eyes, suspecting it to be the Church’s arrangement. If he were in their shoes and had a free spy at his disposal, he would exploit them to the fullest.
Mona took the initiative, taking the black backpack off Wayne’s back, and removed the blood pack containing bat blood. She then squatted and began drawing.
Her figure was indeed exquisite; no wonder those lustful men couldn’t peel their eyes away.
Wayne glanced and said, "I told you, last night was our last meeting. You don’t listen to your master; your loyalty is hard for me to believe."
"Master, I have brought the latest intelligence from the Church."
"Speak."
"I’ve hypothesized that the Inverted Pentagram can be established. The higher-ups of the Holy See believe it’s the key to opening the Hell Gate..."
Mona continued detailing as she inscribed the Magic Array.
Nothing much to say about the Inverted Pentagram. A reversed pentagram is associated with the beliefs of Hell, and the five types of blood required by the Thousand-Eyed Demon are bat blood, snake blood, cow blood, crow blood, and goat blood.
According to the beliefs of Hell, these five types of blood correspond to the seven Demon Kings, specifically Pride, Envy, Sloth, Greed, and Lust.
"Collecting these five types of blood is not difficult; any ordinary person could manage. If the Hell Gate were so easy to open, Devils would be all over the place by now."
Wayne’s heart tightened, but he scoffed, "The Holy See’s top brass are nothing special. I’ll tell the master that this bunch is not worth mentioning."
"You are right, master, but if the one conducting the Array is a Devil who has successfully descended, everything changes."
Mona stood up, took out a map from her chest, and showed it to Wayne: "Look, master. When a Devil stands at the center of the Inverted Pentagram, he can sense the presence of Hell. At the same time, the Devil’s counterpart in Hell will respond. When the two identical thoughts connect, a brief gap appears in Hell’s seal."
