Chapter 1298: Chapter 436: During an Avalanche, No Single Snowflake Feels Responsible
"That’s enough, let’s stop here."
Uriel glanced at Bedford, who was stirring up trouble, and said flatly, "Just because I don’t pick fights doesn’t mean I’m afraid of them. Don’t say such things again."
"You’re just too kind."
Bedford beat his chest and stomped his feet, looking as if Uriel had suffered an enormous injustice.
At the rear of the Insectoid family, there was a figure that everyone instinctively overlooked—a man with golden hair, emerald-green eyes, an unbelievably handsome face, long hair cascading like a golden waterfall, soft features, and a strikingly noble demeanor.
Archibald.
To be precise, after awakening, he became Vikul, the Angel of Wisdom representing the Seven Virtues of Moderation.
Before his awakening, Archibald was easygoing, with a warm smile that made people feel as if bathed in a refreshing spring breeze. After awakening, Vikul gained a touch of maturity and stability on top of that.
Reliable, at first glance.
Compared to sullied purity, indulgent temperance, and generosity that schemes for power—Vikul, the emblem of moderation...
Had been quite irritable lately!
Among all the reincarnated angels, Vikul was the last to awaken, but the moment he opened his eyes, he already fell apart.
Why? In his arms lay a completely naked young nun, and the "tool of the crime" was still in her hands.
The young nun’s name was Titus, a servant arranged by the Pope to serve Archibald under the guise of being his secretary, life assistant, bodyguard, and chauffeur, binding them in a master-servant contract.
Archibald did not reject the Pope’s gesture of goodwill and viewed Titus as a challenge, firmly believing he could withstand the temptation of beauty.
Chivalrous, but not for too long—Titus was infatuated with the reincarnated angel’s looks, insisted on giving herself freely, and finally got her wish.
Archibald failed his challenge of resisting his weak spot. He now provided Titus with attentive care, keeping her close by for every one of the thirty-six hours in a day, fully reciprocating her devotion.
After Vikul awakened, he was completely stunned. Then, seeing Titus’s slightly bulging belly, his eyes erupted with fury, and he slapped...
His own face!
Ultimately, as a kind Angel, he didn’t make things difficult for Titus; he continued treating her gently as always, but his gaze turned murderous whenever he looked at the Pope.
The fact that Titus was pregnant remained unknown to the other reincarnated angels—first, because it wasn’t visually apparent yet; second, because Archibald deliberately concealed it, forbidding Titus from saying a word about it.
The young nun was obedient and naturally didn’t speak to outsiders.
The Pope’s plan succeeded. Out of the seven reincarnated angels, he managed to leave behind a bloodline, though he wasn’t yet aware of it.
Well... Supposedly unaware.
On the very day Vikul awakened, his rage was off the charts. He was itching to strangle the Pope—and himself.
The reason was simple: the honest and moderate Angel had been schemed against by the Pope and Archibald together.
The Pope’s scheming wasn’t worth much discussion; a careless moment let Archibald pick up a small slip of paper. On the paper, the stakes were laid bare. Archibald, not wanting to fade away after the angel’s awakening, had no choice but to take a gamble.
Archibald didn’t know his name within Heaven, but judging from the already awakened ones—the Archangel Uriel leading the charge, and Seraphs Auga, Frey, and Fred, all upper-tier angels—he guessed that he, too, must be a notable angel in Heaven.
At the very least, a Seraph!
Angels need names, and at the very least, dignity—common ailments of positive figures, always restrictively bound and powerless.
Archibald went on a reckless spree and successfully impregnated Titus before awakening. Based on previous successful cases within the Papal State, he deeply believed that awakened angels wouldn’t make things difficult for Titus.
This child bears your blood; this nun is the child’s mother. You’re an angel—how can you kill them solely to protect your reputation?
That’s not Heaven-like at all!
Going through his memories, Vikul found in Archibald’s plan that the honest angel wasn’t willing to take responsibility, but his memories had to be preserved to ensure he still occasionally surfaced.
At least when faced with Titus and the child, the angel couldn’t bring himself to lose face, not wanting to socially perish, thus requiring Archibald to come forward.
Even if the angel flew into a rage and completely erased his existence, he had still conceived the crystallization of life with Titus, ensuring his life hadn’t been wasted and simultaneously accomplishing his revenge against the angel for obliterating him.
Archibald: If you kill me, so what? I’ve left you a child!
Archibald was ruthless, and the Papal State’s successful cases too flawless. The unexpected slip of paper was timely, leaving Vikul helpless against the pregnant Titus—besides anger, he could do nothing.
Ultimately, Archibald managed to persist, becoming a half-awakened state akin to Kel.
Titus’s belly grew larger by the day. Unwilling to stay in the Papal State for long, Vikul left after seeing his old friend Kiraal awaken and coinciding with the Archangel Uriel’s order to form a team and head to Windsor Lundan.
According to Kiraal’s perspective, Windsor Lundan harbored the Great Demon King of Pride. Uriel summoned them here undoubtedly to eradicate the Devil and drive Pride back into Hell.
Unexpectedly, Uriel’s eyes were set solely on Hexuno, insistent on helping the Windsor Family reclaim the throne to prove his brotherly bond with Michael.
Vikul, already boiling with rage, saw Uriel stubbornly ignoring advice and left in fury with Kiraal.
Unable to rely on Uriel, they could only depend on themselves to search for the Saint Heir.
On Kiraal’s end, he pat his chest and assured that he knew where Hexuno was, guiding Kel excitedly to find Wayne, planning to join forces with Hexuno to collectively prove to Uriel that Lundan indeed harbored the Lord Pride.
They never returned and disappeared without a word.
When Vikul went looking for them, Kel was busy driving a tank.
