Chapter 1281: Chapter 432: Archangel, Is it You?

Lando Manor.

After contacting Wayne, Austin took his secretary Megan back home. He waited in the study for half an hour before the tardy Wayne finally showed up.

"Why are you so slow?"

Austin frowned in displeasure, seriously suspecting that Wayne was just teasing him.

Ever since the term "Master Wayne" slipped out, Austin and Wayne had implicitly blurred the line over who the true head of the household was.

Wayne had won the bet but feared Austin’s retaliation—worried that Austin might dump all the family and national affairs on him. Thus, he didn’t dare push things too far.

He understood Austin well. The man’s ultimate dream was a cozy life with his wife and children, along with a few billion in savings. If someone dared to take over his role, he genuinely wouldn’t hesitate to abandon it all.

Austin had lost the bet and vowed to forever stand against gambling and poison. He refused to let "the little trash bag" trample over him, firmly declaring himself as the true family head.

Feeling guilty, and compounded by Wayne’s habitual opposition to him, Austin found problems everywhere he looked.

For instance, now—being called back home for no clear reason and delayed for half an hour—this seemed unmistakably like the head of the household throwing his weight around.

"I stopped by St. Paul Cathedral on the way to check if there were any handsome men or beautiful women staying there. Took a bit longer than planned," Wayne said as he sat opposite Austin, leaning back on the sofa, casually playing with an ancient silver coin in his hand.

Behind him stood Hexuno and Heya, both wearing expressionless faces—one as the boss’s personal secretary and the other as the bodyguard ensuring the personal secretary didn’t get too close.

The banter between the two captivated Wayne; he wouldn’t get bored watching it all night.

"Visiting the cathedral..."

Austin slightly furrowed his brow. "Just say it—why did you call me back?"

"No particular reason, just wanted to see if you were dead," Wayne replied.

"..."

Austin’s face darkened. With only Megan as his secretary, he felt thoroughly overshadowed by Wayne’s entourage, leaving him utterly disgruntled.

"I mean it," Wayne said earnestly, "I truly just wanted to confirm you were still alive."

Wayne gestured behind him. "Let me introduce: This nun’s name is Heya. She’s a reincarnated angel, and in Heaven, she was one of my subordinates."

"Heya, this is Austin Lando—my father here in the Mortal World."

"Archangel, your wording is incorrect. Both in Heaven and the Mortal World, we have only one Father," Heya reminded him softly.

This was Heaven’s fundamental principle. If leadership spoke this way, it would give opposing forces ammunition against them.

"You’re overcomplicating things. We each have our own fathers, and on that basis, we all share one Father—understand?" Wayne said, his face suddenly stern.

"Understood."

"..."

Austin watched the scene speechlessly.

Yesterday, Wayne disclosed that Mona was actually Hexuno. For certain problematic reasons, Wayne had posed as Hexuno and pretended to be a descending reincarnated angel.

Judging by Heya’s respectful demeanor toward Wayne but her blatant disregard for the real leader, she clearly had no clue.

Was this really okay?

Austin internally questioned himself. As someone who also carried leadership responsibilities, viewing it from his perspective, Heya’s behavior like this would get her immediately ousted in any workplace.

Speaking of which... is she truly a reincarnated angel and not a reincarnated succubus?

For an angel, isn’t this behavior a bit too indecent?

Normally, Austin refrained from using derogatory terms to describe women who weren’t part of opposing factions. But Heya was indeed a special case.

A face with top-tier aesthetics, an aura that screamed holiness and solemnity, yet somehow—maybe due to the stark contrast between her figure and her sanctified demeanor—she inevitably invoked some tantalizing imagery.

If Veronica were here, she’d be muttering by now.

Additionally, Austin dared to bet: placing Heya at Wayne’s side was bound to result in another "Mona/Hexuno" situation.

Unlike before, this time it was truly solid!

"Austin, Heya brought back a message from the Papal State: all seven reincarnated angels are now in Lundan..."

Wayne concisely explained, "The leader of these reincarnated angels is named Uriel, like me an Archangel. Due to political strife, he plans to assist the Windsor Family in eliminating rebels—among whom happens to be you, the head of the Lando Family."

"You win; you’re the head of the family."

"You didn’t say that yesterday!"

"I did say it, Master Wayne."

"..."

Wayne rolled his eyes. "Uriel’s target is the Lando Family. You can’t escape it. I called to check if you’d been captured and locked in a basement."

Austin nodded slightly, then asked, "Should I summon Slyphy back? One Archangel and four reincarnated angels—there’s almost no force in the Mortal World that can stop them."

Though not entirely impossible—if the previous generation of God-chosen Knights could be called, who wins and who loses would still be uncertain.

Especially a fully empowered Rone—he was unbelievably strong. Since Uriel hadn’t reclaimed all his power from Heaven, it was uncertain whether he was Rone’s match.

One Rone, paired with any four accessories—those five reincarnated angels wouldn’t be able to act as they pleased.

Moreover, those four aren’t ordinary accessories. Mula, Leo, Dreyne, Vizi—they’re all formidable warriors even by Divine Nation standards.

It’s a pity Rone’s heart belongs solely to his faith, and he wasted no time rushing to the Divine Nation battlefield after regaining his freedom. Otherwise, if Wayne had brought him back to Lundan for a stroll, he wouldn’t have to worry about Uriel causing trouble at all.

"No need for that. Uriel, as an Archangel, must uphold standards befitting his station. He wouldn’t resort to underhanded tactics; instead, it’s probably us he’s guarding against for employing such tactics," Wayne remarked.

Austin nodded in agreement—that logic made sense.

Archangel—you’re an Archangel too!

Heya’s eyes widened. The Archangel she so admired had changed drastically in the Mortal World. The more she understood, the harder it was to accept. To help make sense of things, she found a reason and shifted the blame onto Austin.
