Chapter 1276: Chapter 430 Hexuno: Frey, You Are Not Pure!_4
"Even so, she shouldn’t be after you!" Heya insisted.
"Sit down and say your piece. Stop fluttering your lashes."
Wayne waved his hand, recounting the intel Juno had sent, and asked curiously, "According to you, the last two reincarnated angels have already arrived in Lundan—why are you only showing up now?"
"I beat up the Pope and got held up a bit."
"..."
Wayne fell silent.
To be honest, he actually liked the Pope. The old guy was savvy, and his shady antics were very much to Wayne’s taste.
Like that transforming crucifix necklace, or those coerced sales contracts disguised as gifts, or the fact he didn’t like little boys but had a thing for nuns...
At that thought, Wayne clenched his fist and cleared his throat. "Don’t beat up the Pope anymore. With someone like you, hitting him is the same as rewarding him. The old guy would probably be thrilled beyond measure!"
Heya, however, didn’t get it and couldn’t equate a beating with a reward. She huffed coldly, "That bastard sent shameless nuns to your side, causing you to lose your purity before you even awakened. Beating him was the least he deserved. If I weren’t worried about exposing your identity, I’d have revealed the truth and made him die in shame."
Die in shame? That means he wouldn’t make it to Heaven; you’re basically condemning him to Hell!
Wayne complained internally. The Pope didn’t really have ill intentions. Kidnapping the children of reincarnated angels was merely his way of consolidating the Heavenly Father’s Court’s rule over the Mortal World.
If the Pope knew there was an Archangel like Hexuno among the reincarnated angels, he wouldn’t dare make any rash moves even if you lent him ten guts. Ultimately, it was Heaven’s arrogance and failure to communicate openly.
Of course, the Pope wasn’t entirely without fault either.
The standard nun battle suits of the Heavenly Father’s Court were his brainchild. Despite being tightly wrapped, they somehow emitted a peculiar sensuality that tempted heretics to pledge loyalty to the Holy Light.
That’s just wrong—something that deserves serious criticism!
But then again, while the Pope used his authority for personal indulgences, such behavior only merited a minor punishment—it wasn’t deserving of death, much less eternal damnation.
If the Pope were to be sent to Hell, with his contributions and prestige, the Seven Demon Lords would surely bow to him respectfully and call him the Mortal World’s undercover hero.
Far better would be to sentence him to remain a Pope in the Mortal World for the rest of his days.
"Archangel, after everything the Pope’s done to you, why are you still smiling?" Heya couldn’t take it anymore.
It felt like the archangel was actually enjoying all this. After venturing into the Mortal World, Wayne seemed to have picked up many bad habits and was now beyond saving.
"True warriors dare to face bleak realities and confront rivers of blood head-on. I smile because I am pure. Got that?"
"Nope."
"With your level of understanding, I’m afraid it’d be hard for me to explain it properly."
Wayne glossed over the topic and lightly tapped the tabletop with his fingers. "All seven reincarnated angels have arrived in Lundan. On my side, apart from you, there’s no one else I can count on. Honestly, it feels like we’re completely outmatched."
Heya furrowed her brows, deeply worried.
The politics of the Mortal World didn’t matter; nor did it matter who called the shots in Windsor. Heya understood that the rivalry between the two archangels had deeper implications. Judging by the current situation, Wayne was at an absolute disadvantage.
"It’s my incompetence; I have failed to bring you victory," Heya apologized, full of guilt.
"It’s not your fault, and the situation isn’t as dire as it seems. With seven reincarnated angels gathered here, it’s a rare opportunity. Perhaps I can use this to unearth Lundan’s Demon King." Wayne smiled faintly.
"The Devil?"
"That’s right. The reason I haven’t awakened yet—and why I’m so different in temperament—is due to the Hell Seal inside me..." Wayne explained the history, replacing Mona or Hexuno with himself, and revealed everything to Heya.
Upon hearing this, Heya blew up, slamming the table and knocking over a pen holder.
It slid quite far, scattering pencils all over the tabletop with a clatter, a few rolling underneath the desk.
"Sorry, I didn’t mean to."
"..."
Wayne looked at Heya cleaning up the desk, speechless. Once might be an accident; twice...
Forgive him for getting distracted by Heya’s figure; he couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander. Somehow, this scene felt eerily familiar.
Ah yes, if you swapped the spilled pencils for a knocked-over glass of water, it would be identical.
After gathering the pencils on the desk, Heya circled behind the desk to crouch down and pick up the ones by Wayne’s feet. In that moment, the white nun’s outfit tightened, putting her curves on full display.
Wayne scooted his chair back two steps and noticed Heya’s slightly flushed face. She was clearly "accidentally" being careless on purpose.
"Heya, what are you doing?"
"Picking up pencils."
Is that really picking up pencils? It’s blatantly thirsting over the archangel’s body! I’m too embarrassed to call you out!
Wayne rolled his eyes. He was thirsting for the archangel’s body, too—and in strict terms, he and Heya were alike.
The difference was, he had already gotten his fill while Heya hadn’t—and she was thirsting after the wrong person.
Wayne knew he wasn’t Hexuno, so he rejected the lust being offered to him, quietly waiting for Heya to finish picking up pencils, pretending nothing had happened.
Heya wasn’t satisfied, speaking frankly, "Archangel, let’s set aside the matter of the Devil for now. That can only be delayed, never solved. Meanwhile, the unresolved rift between you and Uriel Archangel makes it two against five—this puts us at a severe disadvantage."
"You helped Secretary Mona grow stronger, so surely you can help me grow as well. I hope to bring you glory and victory."
Loyalty!
The more Heya spoke like this, the more Wayne wanted to keep his distance from her. He dodged the topic again: "Regarding the Devil—the Demon King took away my purity. If you’re so loyal, shouldn’t your focus be on him instead?"
"I can’t beat him. I need power!" Heya declared, righteous and unapologetic.
"..."
Such a good point!
Wayne rolled his eyes again. "Just a moment ago you said Juno was up to no good, urging you to remain pure. Now suddenly, this has changed?"
"It’s for the sake of defeating the Devil—for victory and glory!"
Sensing that Wayne’s tone had softened, Heya pressed on with fervor. "Besides, I’m not like her. I’m a reincarnated angel; I am purer than both her and that shameless secretary. I wouldn’t corrupt your noble body."
Indeed—if there’s corruption happening, it’s coming from me corrupting you!
As Wayne was in the midst of an internal criticism, the office door suddenly banged open.
Mona walked in with a foul expression, her aura switching seamlessly to Hexuno’s and taking over.
"Frey, you’re impure! Your thoughts are filthy!"
Hexuno’s face was full of disdain. She hadn’t noticed before, but now the implications were clear—this little sister had been harboring motives, lusting after her body all along.
"Hmph!"
Before Wayne, Heya acted timidly. But faced with the secretary, Heya struck first, sneering, "Quit pretending to be righteous. Look in the mirror before you speak—you’re the least pure and the filthiest one in this room!"
Wayne: (One `´≖)
Bravo—looks like we’re about to see a fight.
Go for it, Heya. I’m cheering for you, mentally speaking!
