Chapter 1277: Chapter 431 Demon God Returns to His Loyal Hell
Wayne enjoyed the spectacle, hoping for a repeat performance of the Big Sister smacking the little sidekick plotline.
Moreover, he figured Heya’s career in Heaven was basically doomed—perpetually stepping on toes once she returned.
"Little Nun, Frey is my name in Heaven. You don’t have the right to call me that." Heya sneered sarcastically, deliberately complicating her own career prospects.
Her words were sharp, dripping with snark, relentlessly poking at purity and filth. Wherever it hurt most, she struck.
Hexuno’s face turned ashen with rage, wishing she could swap places with Mona, but ended up being booted back here again.
Seeing Heya’s sharp tongue, she wanted nothing more than to rip that mouth apart.
During the Paris mission, Heya had insisted on staying by Wayne’s side, even arranging her role herself.
Secretary!
The target of her intentions was obvious.
Hexuno was furious, but still considered lending Heya a hand. She mentioned there were two more Reincarnated Angels in the Papal State, hinting Wayne could find a reason to dismiss her.
Such a shameless presence remaining by Wayne’s side as his secretary? A lecherous man might hold back for a while, but not forever. Inevitably, she’d make Heya the second fallen Reincarnated Angel.
And both would come from Hexuno’s Angel Legion.
Anyone unaware of the context might think Hexuno herself was seducing the Saint Heir alongside her subordinates!
But who would have thought, just a moment later, Heya returned to Wayne’s side again.
Hearing Heya’s spicy sarcasm, Hexuno’s face alternated between pale and green. After some weighing of pros and cons, she decided Heya needed to be eliminated.
The Saint Heir was already far from pure. She couldn’t let him continue to sink into moral decay. Heya reeked of being an undercover plant from the Lord of Lust in Heaven—plenty of solid reasons to act immediately.
Heya vaguely sensed a thread of killing intent. In a flash, she stepped beside Wayne, her face cold as ice. "What? Revealing the truth has struck a nerve? You’ve followed the Archangel for so long, yet you can’t face the bloody reality. You don’t deserve the Stigmata you bear!"
What a venomous little mouth—where did she pick that up?
Wayne chuckled as he watched Heya cheekily roast Hexuno. He suspected it came from her time in Prussia’s dark dungeons, where he had frequently verbally sparred with her.
Most likely, that was her crash course.
Hexuno glared at Wayne icily. "What is she doing here? Why is she even here?"
"Bastard! Who are you talking to!"
Heya, furious, drew the Heaven Holy Spear, ready to throw down with her spoiled secretary rival.
Hexuno narrowed her eyes slightly. This was exactly as she’d hoped. Her hand reached into The Void, preparing to draw the Oath Sword.
"Calm down. This is my Detective Agency. If you wreck the place, I’ll go bankrupt and end up homeless," Wayne interjected just in time, casting a speechless glance at Hexuno. Her killing intent was unmistakable—wasn’t the Archangel being a bit of a sore loser?
Heya’s loyalty was unquestionably reliable, apart from choosing the wrong target. There wasn’t a single flaw to be found.
So the nastier Heya’s words, the more pleased Hexuno should be.
"Boss, I was merely accepting her challenge. I didn’t..."
"No, you did."
Wayne shook his head. "You’re not allowed to lay a finger on her. That’s an order."
What order? By whose authority did he issue orders?
The Golden Rule servant-master contract? Or his status as the Saint Heir?
If it was the former, Hexuno could outright ignore it. If it was the latter, then...
Hexuno clenched her jaw, her expression sour. While Wayne could feign ignorance, she couldn’t. She shot Heya a cutting glare and reluctantly withdrew her hand from The Void.
Heya raised her chin in pride. She always knew her standing in leadership’s heart far surpassed that of the little nun.
"And you’re also forbidden from speaking ill of her again. I warned you before. You must respect her as you respect me. Don’t make me repeat myself a third time." Wayne’s voice dropped, firm and commanding.
In the next scene, Wayne sat behind his desk, two dejected Reincarnated Angels slumped before him.
One didn’t know how to persuade the Saint Heir to turn back onto the righteous path. The other was sulking from a scolding by the boss.
"Sit down, both of you. Let’s talk about these Devils and Angels." Wayne tapped the desk.
There was only one chair in front of the desk. Heya snagged it before Hexuno could, eliciting a cold snort from the latter as she prepared to grab another one from the nearby couch.
"Why are you dawdling? Your seat is right here."
Wayne patted his lap. Workplace rules: the secretary’s seat was, well, on the boss.
Hexuno grit her teeth. She didn’t want to be the one to make the Saint Heir look even worse, so she rejected the ordinary chair.
"Heya, you—"
Wayne was halfway through speaking when Hexuno sat down, side-saddle.
Predictably, this drew Heya’s furious glare.
Wayne, amused, slid an arm around Hexuno’s slim waist, finding Heya’s blatant display of love and hate even more satisfying. She wore her feelings on her face—an exceptionally efficient wingman.
"Archangel, you can’t keep indulging her like this!" Heya protested unwillingly.
Hexuno sighed faintly, feeling equally helpless. She didn’t want to either. But what could she do? The Saint Heir had her utterly cornered.
Curse that Pope!
"I’m the Archangel. If I want to indulge someone, I’ll indulge them," Wayne declared nonchalantly.
He then relayed the intel brought by Juno: "Seven Reincarnated Angels have gathered in Lundan. With two Archangels here, we’re sure to ferret out the hidden Devil."
At the mention of the detested Devils, flames of fury ignited in Hexuno’s heart. "Boss, what’s your plan? How do you intend to proceed?"
"The Devil is extremely well-hidden. Apart from targeting me as an Archangel, they’ve yet to make a single move..." Wayne frowned thoughtfully. "Last time, the Thousand-Eyed Demon nearly opened the Hell Gate, and the Devil remained unmoved. Either they have another scheme, or they’ve already left Lundan."
"No, my instincts tell me the Devil has always been here in Lundan!" Hexuno spoke up firmly.
"Your instincts, huh? Where do you get so many instincts about Devils? Ha, you wouldn’t happen to *be* the Devil, would you?" Heya, ever sarcastic, continued to level up her Onmyoji-level wit.
