Mythical Monster Evolution -
Chapter 49: Temporary Power Boost
Chapter 49: Temporary Power Boost
"Ugh..."
Kai’s eyes slowly opened, his mind heavy.
"Did it work?"
He felt strangely light, as if a ton of weight had come off his shoulders.
Kai looked around himself, trying to see where he had woken up.
However, surprisingly, there was nothing around him. Only some very large and massive white walls... even the ground was white.
It was to the point that it was almost blinding him.
"Just what the hell happened? Is this inside the ring?"
Kai looked down, his eyes widening.
"My body! Why am I human?"
He was no longer in the form of a [Dragonic Spirit]. Instead, he was in his human form.
"Wait... I can move?"
Kai’s voice was febrile.
He began moving his arms around him again and again. It had been years... YEARS.
But finally, he could do it.
"T-This is amazing!" Kai rejoiced. "What the hell happened? Why am I here? What happened to the trial?"
"Young man."
A powerful voice suddenly echoed within the room.
Kai couldn’t pinpoint where it came from. However, it seemed to be coming from the sky? Well, above him.
"If you are here, it means that something went wrong with my plan."
There was a short pause in his words, letting Kai overthink.
He recognized the voice. It was Varkul. How could Kai forget the voice of the man who had given him everything?
"I’m sorry. I really did try my best!" Kai screamed, looking up.
"Before I continue, this is a pre-recorded message. So, listen carefully to what I will say next."
"If my plan went accordingly, you should have survived at the Corrupted Tree with Myre saving you from whatever force was heading your way. However, if this is where you currently are, this is what you should do..."
He then went on to explain step by step the actions Kai should take to survive no matter what. However, Kai was already past that point.
Nevertheless, listening to a God was special, refreshing even.
He spoke as if he could see everything.
It was strange, given the fact that he had died so many years ago. It was to the point that Kai believed Varkul could see into the future.
"Then, your next destination should be the Elven Kingdom where the Trial of Monsters is located. By absorbing Puma, you would have reached the limit of your evolution, which means you should have a Silver Ranked Monster Core on the verge of becoming a Gold Ranked Monster Core."
"I trust Isla was able to guide you correctly to the World Tree without major issues, which means that you are now inside the Trial of Monsters. Now, if you are currently there, I must say that I’m sorry."
"The Trial of Monsters is divided into multiple difficulties, which the trial chooses on its own. However, I have forced upon you the highest difficulty. It was a necessary decision for your growth. Very powerful beings are bound to find out about you, and the danger surrounding you will only increase over time."
"Anyway, completing the trial on your first try is essential for the next parts of the plan. I also cannot tell you how to solve the stages in depth since you need to comprehend everything on your own. However, if what you lack is strength, you should take this."
-Beep!
A loud sound echoed inside the vast white space as a small bottle with blue liquid appeared before Kai.
The liquid was fluorescent, looking practically radioactive.
The voice had stopped talking ever since this object had appeared. It was probably waiting for him to take it.
Then, as Kai grabbed it, the recorded message continued.
"This will give a temporary strength boost that will make it possible for you to defeat any enemy inside the Trial of Monsters. However, its effect will cease after five minutes, so make sure to use your time accordingly. The five minutes will activate as soon as you drink."
"Unfortunately, this is the only help I can offer you for the Trial of Monsters. I cannot give you the answers to everything as it would reduce the effects on your growth."
[You have obtained the necessary information for your problem.]
[Leaving this space in 3...2...1...]
Kai’s jaw dropped as he believed he would have been able to continue listening to the future plan Varkul had for him. However, his voice immediately became fuzzy before disappearing at once.
When Kai opened his eyes again, he was lying against the cold floor, a small blue potion in his hand.
"H-He’s woken up!"
"Where’s the captain?"
"Kill it!"
-Swoosh!
Kai disappeared from his current position, using the last drops of energy he had.
-Cling!
A loud noise of a sword knocking against the ground echoed inside the city.
Kai felt his Monster Core being completely dry of any energy after this dash. His spiritual energy was also fully used up.
He already felt his mind becoming heavy, just like what had happened back in the Dark Elf Village.
’I-I need to drink it.’
Kai removed the cork from the potion and drank it all at once.
Kai felt the liquid go down his throat. It felt cold, freezing even. However, as he fully drank the potion, his Monster Core was already full.
Sparks of energy were suddenly all over his body, crackling, randomly attacking the objects surrounding him.
"Much better."
Kai felt stronger than ever as he fully digested the potion. However, he knew that this overwhelming strength would only be temporary.
Kai glanced at the guards, who now looked like nothing more than insects for him to step on.
"Call your captain."
Kai had five minutes.
He needed to finish this stage in five minutes, as he had no idea if he would receive any backlash from using this potion.
The guards all began running for their lives, shouting loud and clear for help from their captain.
Then, within seconds, the ground shook, and the same man who had made Kai gamble everything he had appeared before him.
The guard’s captain whose behavior had completely shifted.
His stance was lower, ready to react to any possible attack.
"Run as far as you can," he muttered. "Otherwise, you’ll die."
"Did you hear that, stupid dragon? You’ll die!"
The man turned, his expression cold. "I’m talking to you. Run."
