Chapter 50: Tons of Experience

Chapter 50: Tons of Experience

Kai knew his time was limited.

He had five minutes to kill everyone in this city.

This meant that he could not waste time idling around.

At most, he could spend two minutes fighting the guard captain. After that, he would have to kill everyone else in record time.

Now that he had drunk that godly potion, Kai felt like it was actually possible.

"What did you do?" the man asked as he pulled out his longsword. "How did you come back to life?"

The man observed Kai with a frown deeply etched onto his face.

"I was never dead."

"Your pulse stopped for more than five minutes. You were dead." The man shook his head. "Demon, I will vanquish you."

Suddenly, the guard captain lunged forward.

He moved even faster than before as the impulsion he took caused cracks to form deep within the ground.

However, with Kai’s current power, he moved as slow as a snail.

The electricity that had been crackling from Kai’s body suddenly concentrated into his right palm, moving in the man’s direction.

"I can’t dodge that..." the man thought as a small ball of pure electricity was about to be launched from Kai’s hand. "I’ll have to block it."

The sphere of electricity was gone, aimed directly for the man’s head.

The guard brandished his sword before him, trying his best to find the trajectory of the sphere. However, he couldn’t.

It was impossible.

It moved way too fast.

With the blink of an eye, he had completely lost track of it, and within the next second, the sphere of electricity had hit the blade of his sword.

"ARGH!"

He was stopped in his tracks, midair. The electricity had completely frozen his body. Then, the man fell to the ground, helpless.

"J-Just how is this possible..." The man shook his head. "How did he become so powerful in so little time..."

He could no longer move; he could only watch as Kai began approaching his body, a dark aura surrounding his claws.

"D-Don’t kill me..." the man begged. "I don’t want to die for a second time."

A slight frown found its way onto Kai’s face at those words. However, now wasn’t the time to ask questions. He needed to complete this stage as fast as possible.

Using [Shadow Claws], Kai decapitated the guard captain and decided to absorb experience from his body.

Someone with this strength was bound to give him a lot.

[You have killed the Boss of the First Stage.]

[You gain 15,000 Experience Points.]

Kai smiled at that increase of experience. He was close to reaching the second growth stage of the [Dragonic Spirit]. With it, he would become much stronger than now.

That’s why, with the remaining humans, he also made the same decision. He decided that he wouldn’t devour them. Instead, he would also get their experience in hopes that he would finally surpass that experience bar.

The guards who had been watching from afar had shivers running down their backs.

They had never seen their captain lose in such a fashion.

The entire fight had lasted less than 30 seconds.

A young dragon that had been completely overwhelmed minutes before had come back from the dead, decimating him.

"We’re all going to die!"

"WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!"

They couldn’t see Kai anymore.

However, they could see sparks of electricity getting nearer and nearer from where they stood.

They knew that death was only a matter of time.

There was no way in hell that they could kill this dragon. Not after he had killed their captain in such a manner.

"Ru-"

Before one of the guards could scream, his head was also cut off instantly.

Then, one after another, heads fell onto the ground.

Civilians, guards—none of it mattered to Kai’s eyes.

He simply wanted to progress to the next stage before the five minutes passed.

Then, as Kai felt the strong energy slowly dissipating from his body, the last human in the entire city was before him, crawling away pathetically.

"Thank you for the experience points."

Then, Kai cut off his head as he received multiple messages from both the Trial of Monsters and his system.

[You have completed the first stage perfectly.]

[Rewards: 30,000 Experience Points]

[You have killed a human.]

[You have gained experience points.]

Kai then opened his system as he wanted to see just how much experience he had gained from killing more than 3,000 humans in a little less than five minutes.

[Growth Stage - Newborn 1/6 | 63,234/20,000]

[You have surpassed the amount of experience required.]

[Do you wish to evolve further?]

Kai did not even need to think as he immediately answered yes.

Then, he was back in his evolution space. He felt his body become larger and much stronger physically.

When he opened his eyes again, his body was twice its previous size and, more importantly, he had just gained yet another skill from this evolution.

[Half-Moon Wind Strike]

[Description: You can release a gush of wind in the form of a half-moon. Its strength and power will depend on the amount of spiritual and monster energy placed into it. It should be used from long range.]

Kai smirked.

He would finally be able to attack from far away.

If he had gotten this skill before coming here, his life would have been a lot easier.

He would have been able to kill them left and right, but from a distance.

Therefore, the difficulty would have gone down by a lot.

Kai then looked at his system again as he knew that he still had a lot of leftover experience.

[Growth Stage - Infant (2/6 | 43,234/40,000)]

[You have surpassed the amount of experience required.]

[Do you wish to evolve further?]

Kai once more answered yes.

This trial was amazing. In less than a day, he had managed to acquire more than 40,000 experience—something that would have never been possible in the outside world.

Kai smirked as he realized that this place was the perfect grinding spot.

Much better than any place he had encountered.
