Mystery Paradise: Wishing Power Demon -
Chapter 436 - 433 Different Realms
Chapter 436: Chapter 433 Different Realms
Ailuodi was startled as well; she hadn’t expected that a technique which had been difficult to breach just a moment ago could yield such a drastically different outcome when performed again. Driven by an urgent desire to rescue, her sword strike was executed without restraint. After the wild wind dissipated, the demon who called himself Charlie was left with barely a breath.
He struggled to lift his hand, vainly trying to stem the flow of blood from the wound in his chest. As the blood continued to gush out, he waved his arms in the air above him, seemingly trying to grasp something—only Chaoyang could see that he was attempting to gather the "wishing power" dissipating from his body.
One had to admit, the demon indeed possessed a formidable vitality. Even with his chest cavity pierced, he continued to struggle for over twenty seconds before ceasing to move. The moment he fell, his eyes, full of desperation and disbelief, were fixed on Chaoyang.
"He doesn’t have a clone."
"What?" Ailuodi was still in a highly tense state.
"The wishing power on his body isn’t transferring... it’s starting to escape now," Chaoyang observed, watching the demon’s body, "This means he doesn’t have a second body to spare, or rather, he doesn’t have the ability to transfer his consciousness."
"You weren’t hurt just now, were you?" Ailuodi asked anxiously.
From being flung away to turning the tables for a counterattack had taken only a few seconds. She clearly saw the demon’s claws tightening around Chaoyang’s head, but now there wasn’t a single scratch on his face; her heart had been through several tumultuous swings from peak to valley in those seconds.
"Hmm, I’m fine." In fact, Chaoyang hadn’t completely recovered his composure either. His indifferent demeanor in the face of the demon was not because he underestimated his foe but because Shi Yin had yelled too loudly.
Even now, it stood atop his head, striking a haughty pose with hands on hips.
"See that? This is the benefit of ascending to godhood!"
"Don’t think that absorbing more wishing power makes you powerful. In the end, he didn’t even touch the threshold of godhood, no different from what you used to be!"
"If you didn’t have my guidance, sooner or later you would end up just like him!"
"Now you understand who your true lifesaver is, your great mentor, your beacon of guidance, wuwuwu—"
Chaoyang pinched Shi Yin’s head and snuffed out its self-praise mid-sentence, even though its initial warning had indeed been quite important.
The moment the demon emerged from the dungeon, Shi Yin had made its judgment clear: the opponent wasn’t even considered a Latter Divine, let alone up to his standards now.
That was also the reason why he didn’t immediately agree when Ailuodi suggested they retreat.
In fact, Chaoyang was also curious about just how much stronger he had become after completing the ascension and receiving the gift from Unfathomed. After all, in past battles, it was always players who fought in his stead, and he rarely clashed directly with enemies. Even after gaining the authority of the Primordial Gods, he had only briefly experimented with Labyrinth Ability. Although he had realized beforehand that the power of the Primordial Gods was astonishing, it was only after this battle that he truly understood the level he had reached.
To use Shi Yin’s words, it was a difference in realms.
If there had to be a drawback to Labyrinth Ability, it would be that it was limited to the confines of The Divine Country, and for every meter its range expanded, the required wishing power would grow exponentially. Perhaps only a true Primordial God could extend their domain to cover the entire world.
"What did you do to the demon?" Ailuodi, having confirmed his safety, asked curiously, "His black armor seemed to suddenly soften."
"He entered my Labyrinth, and within it, the air can corrode any hard substance, making it as pliable as cloth," Chaoyang replied. At that moment, there were two solutions: one was to specifically adjust the black armor created by the demon, the other was to weaken all weapons and armor. Since he wasn’t sure of the material of the enemy’s armor or whether it might even be a creation of wishing power, he chose the latter, more prudent strategy.
The Angel cocked her head, clearly not understanding. She looked at Kokomoqi, who had been floating behind Chaoyang, and found the latter equally bewildered.
"Explaining is a waste of breath," Shi Yin shifted direction, popping her head out of Chaoyang’s belly, "Unfathomed’s authority can only be understood by those who have acquired it. Your disclosed words are like encrypted gibberish to them, a trait somewhat akin to the Mist God; should you lose this authority one day, I’m afraid you’ll also completely forget this part of your memory."
Is that so...
It seems Unfathomed really doesn’t like a world that’s too clear-cut.
"Uh... don’t sweat the small stuff; there’s still an important task you haven’t completed," Chaoyang changed the subject.
"What task?"
He gestured with his mouth towards the Demon on the ground, "Angels can gain strength by slaying Demons, right? Instead of letting him die a natural death, it’s better if you deliver the final blow. That way, the wishing power won’t go to waste."
"This..." Ailuodi hesitated for a moment. Indeed, eradicating the source of evil power had always been her aspiration, but the scene of bathing in Demon blood was somewhat awkward, especially in front of Chaoyang.
However, her hesitation did not last long.
Perhaps the sight wouldn’t be pretty, even distasteful, but she truly needed the power. Especially after what had just happened; if Chaoyang couldn’t contain the enemy with his own abilities, the consequences would be unimaginable. She had a vague feeling that the adversary was pulling away from her, and in such circumstances, maintaining a pristine appearance wasn’t something she couldn’t part with.
"What’s wrong?"
"No... it’s nothing." Ailuodi approached Charlie and summoned the Gale Sword again. She saw that the life glow on the Demon’s body was now as thin as a thread... From a medical standpoint, he was already dead, beyond self-healing. Even though his breathing and heartbeat had ceased, his body was still desperately trying to retain the dissipating soul, the trembling green light proving it.
She reversed the tip of the sword, stabbing downward at the Demon beneath her. As the gale destroyed his brain, the last thread of life was extinguished. A large amount of blood spurted out, staining Ailuodi, along with the unfettered wishing power—the Angel couldn’t see this force but felt an intense warm surge flowing into her body, much more than she had ever received from Chaoyang!
She had finally slain a Demon, just like the Legendary stories depicted in the Angel code!
In Chaoyang’s Spiritual Rhinoceros Vista, a good portion of the wishing power emanating from the Demon was absorbed by Ailuodi, while the rest scattered into the air, heading towards the wishers. Likely because the contract was terminated partway, this power would transform back into life force for the wishers, although it was but a drop in the bucket compared to what they had given.
As for the fresh blood that splashed onto Ailuodi, it left no stain, vanishing as if into thin air. Moreover, Ailuodi seemed to radiate light from her being—her tightly closed eyes, hands gripping the sword blade, and immaculate white wings made her appear like a sacred statue.
After a moment, Ailuodi opened her eyes and took a deep breath. Seeing that she wasn’t covered in blood, she finally let go of the last bit of worry.
"How do you feel?" Chaoyang asked.
"Like I’ve had a long sleep, full of energy all over, and even my skin has become smoother," Ailuodi said, lowering her voice, "You don’t think I’m some bloodthirsty maniac, do you?"
"Don’t think too much into it; to me, that was just a monster, nothing more."
"Wait... what is that?" Kokomoqi suddenly exclaimed, pointing behind them.
Turning their heads, they looked through the crevices of the ruined hall’s walls out to the Ice and Snow Hall—there, a ring-shaped gate, shimmering with polychromatic lights, had appeared where the injured had been lying, and through its flickering light, Chaoyang could barely make out towering skyscrapers reaching into the clouds!
