Mystery Paradise: Wishing Power Demon -
Chapter 435 - 432 Under the Skin of the Demon
Chapter 435: Chapter 432 Under the Skin of the Demon
"What’s wrong, buddy, enslaved by an Angel?" the Demon sneered, "To actually tolerate such a Justice Envoy keeping you restrained by their side at all times? It makes me want to vomit just watching. But you seem to have reaped quite a bit of wishing power yourself... so how about this—I kill you all and take all that wishing power for myself—"
Before he could finish, Ailuodi, like an arrow released from its bow, charged towards the enemy. Where the violent gusts passed, iron bars twisted and deformed! It was a good thing they had released the people from the dungeon early, or the collateral damage from this battle could have resulted in the instant death of ordinary people.
The moment the Gale Sword cleaved down, a sharp explosion resounded in the underground space! Hot air currents swept through every corner of the room, even blowing Kokomoqi’s fluffy hair into a single straight bundle.
"Impressive power! Worthy of an Angel who can enslave their own kind!"
But Charlie blocked that strike completely!
A thick layer of black carapace-like material had grown over his arm, which at first glance appeared to be a bony shield—although the Angel’s Gale Sword could slice through steel, this strike only tore a five to six centimeter deep gash in the bone armor and did not injure the Demon’s body.
Ailuodi was slightly taken aback.
In her memory, Demons were not known for their prowess in battle.
"Surprised? The Demons in your homeland might be your prey, but where we come from, that’s not the case—only the strongest, one in a hundred, survive, and I, Lord Charlie, am among the very best!"
The other party extended his other hand towards Ailuodi, his fingers long and sharp, with equally black nails. If she were hit, there was no doubt several bloody holes would be left in her body.
Just as Ailuodi dodged, she saw a black glint in Charlie’s eyes.
"Be careful!" Chaoyang warned, for he saw the wishing power around the Demon rapidly changing, a large amount of it concentrating at the opponent’s head, clearly preparing for some ability.
The next second, everything in Charlie’s line of sight turned to dust!
Not metaphorically, but literally turned to dust—the whole dungeon was pierced by the black light, ceiling and walls crumbling into fine sand spread by the wind, revealing a layer of the Ice and Snow Hall above. The same happened behind them, the black light not only destroyed the outer walls of the dungeon but also "melted" through the mountain outside the building, finally creating a transparent hole in the thin mountain layer.
"What kind of magic is this?" Kokomoqi exclaimed in astonishment.
In the instant the black light burst forth, the Angel activated the Speed of Wind, wrapping her and Chaoyang together to break through the ceiling and leap out of the second underground layer. Now they stood on the edge of the massive crack in the floor, watching as snowflakes were swept into the hall by the cold wind from below.
"That’s not any magic, but a pure wishing power attack," Chaoyang asserted. Right before the Demon released that move, he could clearly observe wishing power bursting out of the Demon’s body, much like when he used wishing power to create things himself. Wishing power itself can be considered a form of energy, reflecting the will of the user, such as when an Angel summons the Gale Sword, with the swirling winds actually transformed from wishing power.
The only problem was, Charlie was a Demon, not an Angel. Most of the Demon’s abilities were associated with deception and disguise, whereas Angels were the opposite, straightforward in their skills, some excelling in destruction, others in healing. That was exactly why the Demons were always at a disadvantage, generally overpowered by the Angels.
But the Demon in front of them seemed to have broken through that barrier, able to both seize wishing power through contracts and exhibit considerable offensive and defensive capabilities. Aside from looking a bit crude, he seemed to lack any obvious inherent flaws.
"That black light seems to be able to rapidly turn its targets to sand," Ailuodi said, plucking a lock of hair from beside her ear. The moment the strand of hair fell into her hand, it turned into fine ash, "This Demon is different. It’s best if we retreat for now."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... What do I see?" Charlie raised his head, looking up at the three of them and smacking his lips, "Angels would rather risk getting hit than save a Demon. That’s really... against the natural order. I need to correct myself, pal, you’re not enslaved by her, but... both of you have betrayed your very nature, a pair of hopelessly foolish creatures."
No sooner had he spoken than he vanished on the spot.
Immediately a chilling wind swept by them—
"A race for speed? I can do that too."
Charlie swung his foot at Ailuodi, who instinctively raised her hands to block, only to hear a dull thud as the Angel was sent flying! Although not injured, they were now distanced from each other.
"If I’m as fast as you, then no matter what, you won’t be able to save him in time," the Demon said coldly, raising his claws towards Chaoyang, "Poor bug, dedicate all your Blood of Will to me, and afterwards, I’ll torture that Angel properly..."
Damn it!
Alarm surged in Ailuodi’s heart as she hastily spread her wings, once more invoking the Speed of Wind! Everything around seemed to come to a standstill; she was moving forward while the Demon’s claws were slowly closing in!
This meant that the enemy’s speed was only slightly slower than hers at that moment!
But the kick that had sent her flying more than ten meters away meant this small difference in speed wouldn’t allow her to reach Chaoyang’s side before the claws closed!
Her eyes widened in horror as she watched the sharp black claws touch Chaoyang’s cheek and then slide to the sides, as if instead of sharp steel swords, they were made of stacked pieces of paper.
Charlie’s face turned a ghastly pale!
He had thought that one swipe would split the adversary’s head open, never imagining that his pride, his steel-hard bones, would suddenly become weak and powerless!
An illusion? Or some kind of mental influence?
On instinct, he swung his other fist fiercely at Chaoyang, but the strangeness occurred once again. This fist didn’t turn into paper, but rather an inflatable rubber bag—when the fist hit Chaoyang’s face, it dented in segments, burying his entire arm into it!
For a moment, Charlie couldn’t fathom what had happened; he could only repeat his previously effective strategy, concentrating the surging wishing power inside him into a point, his eyes flickering with black light!
However, a red snake sprung from behind Chaoyang, biting into his inflated wrist.
The orderly flow of wishing power was suddenly disrupted, the concentrated power began to flow backward into his body, colliding with the incoming power... Ordinary people might not see these changes, but in Chaoyang’s eyes, they were crystal clear. The Demon was unable to release the black light that turned everything into sand, instead, the conflict of wishing power caused numerous wounds of varying sizes to burst open within his body!
Charlie’s gaze towards Chaoyang changed.
Since the beginning of their fight, the Demon realized Chaoyang had not moved an inch! Let alone taking action, even the wishing power revolving around him hadn’t changed the slightest.
He was not a Demon! Even though he looked and smelled the part, he definitely was not the kind of Demon Charlie knew!
He did not belong to the sandy prison, nor to his homeland!
He merely wore a layer of Demon skin on the surface!
"What... what are you!?"
Charlie asked, his voice laced with terror.
"Why do I feel satisfied?" Chaoyang mused to himself as if he hadn’t heard the question, "Are you saying that Labyrinths bring the unknown, and the unknown brings fear, and this action aligns with the very intention of authority? I see... the Labyrinth can be established on the foundation of The Divine Country, and constructing it is to enact the will of the divinities, right?"
Completely incomprehensible words.
Who was he talking to?
The void?
"Huh, you were asking me something just now?" It was only then that Chaoyang seemed to belatedly realize, looking towards him, "I am a Demon, of course."
At that moment, Ailuodi finally arrived, thrusting out her Gale Sword with the ease of a hot knife slicing through butter, effortlessly piercing through Charlie’s black bone armor in front of his chest, blowing a huge hole in his back!
