Mystery Paradise: Wishing Power Demon
Chapter 437 - 434: Connecting the Door to the Present World

Chapter 437: Chapter 434: Connecting the Door to the Present World

"Portal."

That word suddenly popped into Chaoyang’s mind.

The transfer station he had established was one kind of portal, allowing the consciousness of Earth’s individuals to travel to the Otherworld and vice versa. It was a very mystical area that, if he had to describe it, was not located in any physical place in reality, only accessible to the souls he invited.

The other type of portal allowed physical entities to traverse between the two worlds, like himself and Ailuodi, as well as the various mineral samples and resources from the Otherworld transported to the control center. Carrying these items through the portal required the expenditure of more wishing power, and so far, the total amount of materials he had transported would not exceed fifty tons.

The portal in front of them clearly belonged to the latter category.

It was not a station for the transfer of consciousness... it took physical form before everyone’s eyes!

Because Chaoyang had seen that, amidst the chaotic retreat, several soldiers from the retreating Alliance Army had already plunged into that gateway and vanished without a trace!

This portal had appeared only after the death of the Demon; was it a coincidence, or was there some connection?

"Those buildings... surely they can’t be Earth?" Ailuodi murmured.

"Earth?" Kokomoqi asked.

Although she often stayed at the transfer station to experience various games, she had never truly crossed that boundary.

"Let’s not worry about that now... We need to leave here quickly," Chaoyang decided.

Because the Alliance Army was about to collapse.

Originally, with their superior individual abilities, they could still stand against the Mechanical Army of the Longjiu Family, but with the Demon’s death and the loss of the contract’s power, the soldiers were beaten back to their original forms, and their vitality dropped to critical levels, almost no different from the feeble and the sick. In just a few minutes, the situation had undergone a drastic change; the thunderous sound of explosions was approaching closer to the main entrance of the Ice and Snow Hall, with a large number of soldiers retreating into the hall and panic-stricken cries resounding non-stop.

The defensive line at the square in front of the hall had probably been breached, and the complete collapse of the defending army was a foreseeable outcome.

Chaoyang didn’t care who between the Longjiu Army and the Alliance Army would win; he only worried that if they left too late, they might encounter trouble.

"If that’s the case, let’s leave the way we came," Ailuodi suggested.

Kokomoqi raised her hand and cast the Invisibility Technique again, and the three of them slipped out of the room and stuck to the wall to reach the side of the hall, randomly entering a guest room. They planned to escape through the window. However, the moment they opened the window, everyone was stunned to see that outside the Ice and Snow Hall, there were many mechanical birds circling above; there were at least a thousand of them!

"It’s fine, they can’t see us," Kokomoqi said confidently.

But no sooner had she finished speaking, a mechanical bird swooped toward the window!

Ailuodi, with her quick reflexes, split it into pieces in mid-air with her Gale Sword. Yet, this action had stirred up even more commotion as about a dozen mechanical birds lowered their altitude, evidently about to surround the window.

"They don’t rely on sight to find people!" Chaoyang immediately closed the iron window again, "This way won’t work."

He definitely did not want to be served by a bunch of self-destructing drones as he flew away from Zhaixing City.

While the Labyrinth Ability could be used for defense, its best use was for attack... Moreover, continuously using the ability would burn away a huge amount of wishing power, and he was not yet wealthy enough to maintain the Labyrinth Ability constantly.

As they returned to the hall, a deafening explosion suddenly erupted behind them.

It was apparent that the side room’s windows had been blasted open, and a massive number of mechanical birds would soon be entering the Ice and Snow Hall through the breach in the outer wall.

In the center of the hall, the situation was also dire, as the Steam Armored Troop of the Longjiu Army had breached the main door and was massacring those wounded and ill who had lost the ability to resist. By now, the morale of the Alliance Army had completely crumbled, and those still alive were scattering in all directions to escape, rendering the scene utterly chaotic.

Since the skies were treacherous and the ground no better, perhaps the only safe route for evacuation lay directly in front of them.

Chaoyang directed his gaze at the ornate circular door.

Ailuodi also understood his intention, "What if that’s not Earth on the other side?"

"It doesn’t matter. As long as the transfer station is still connected to the soul, I won’t lose the coordinates of both places," Chaoyang said. "Let’s go, this hall won’t last much longer."

The mode of combat employed by the mechanical troops was wholly different from that of human soldiers—even with the Alliance Army having lost the capability to resist, the mechanical birds and Self-Destruct Spiders were still hunting down scattered soldiers, without any regard for potential damage to the structure. Explosions blossomed in the corridors, upper levels, the main hall, and rooms, making the entire building shudder unsteadily while chunks of stone occasionally fell from above.

At this rate, the Ice and Snow Hall would inevitably collapse.

Yet the mechanical legion seemed to have no concern for this.

It appeared that as long as the enemy could be eradicated, the extent of their own losses was irrelevant.

"Then hold on tight to me... three, two, one—" Ailuodi, with both in tow, stepped out from the shadows and triggered Speed of Wind at the same time, making it seem as though time had once again slowed to a crawl. Bullets whisked by in front of them, almost as if one could see the long trails they left behind... In almost the blink of an eye, the trio had dashed from a corner to the front of the circular door.

Angel closed his eyes and stepped into the swirling colors.

Accompanied by a surge of intense vertigo, the next second, the three of them were astonished to find themselves already midair, more than twenty meters above the ground. Below was a crossroads with over a dozen indiscernible bodies piled on the asphalt road, obviously the unlucky ones who had passed through the portal before. Around the intersection, a crowd had gathered, pointing at the "spot of light" above and chatting animatedly; cars honked frantically, causing complete gridlock.

"Wow," exclaimed the Magic Goddess, unable to suppress her admiration. It was her first time seeing a forest-like collection of modern buildings, as well as countless cars and residents bustling through the steel jungle like ants. Even if one were to combine Thistlefort, City of Defense, and Magnificent Castle, the scale wouldn’t amass to a tenth of the metropolis before her eyes. While similar scenes had appeared in games, the shock of witnessing it firsthand was markedly stronger.

Damn...

Chaoyang and Ailuodi exchanged glances, both realizing they were in big trouble now. The other end of the portal was situated right in the midst of a bustling urban area, causing not only traffic congestion but also attracting countless onlookers. Watching the flashes from phones and cameras below, it seemed this astonishing spectacle had already spread around the world via the internet.

Thankfully, Kokomoqi’s Invisibility Technique was still effective, camouflaging the three of them perfectly against the sky, avoiding drawing any attention.

Ailuodi spread her wings and ascended, finally landing on the rooftop of a building about twenty stories high.

"Can you close that portal?" she asked after setting them down.

Chaoyang pondered then shook his head, "In theory, cutting off the supply of wishing power could close the portal, but that demon named Charlie is dead, and since the door is still open, it suggests that it isn’t really related to Charlie."

Maintaining a portal capable of transporting physical objects requires an immense amount of wishing power, and opening it knowingly without a specific purpose wouldn’t make sense. Was the intent just to drop some demoralized Alliance Army soldiers to their death?

"Besides, I know where we are," he added.

Chaoyang easily determined their precise location by tapping into the street surveillance cameras nearby. They were indeed back on Earth, and time hadn’t shifted significantly. In other words, the anchor point of the portal was consistent with the time at the transfer station, but the exit point was tens of thousands of miles away from where Chaoyang had set his default connection.

"Where?" Ailuodi asked.

"M City in Canada, the city we visited half a year ago," he replied.
