Chapter 79: Chapter 79: I think your mixing up the group of beast with your teammate!
Lake went straight to his dorm after leaving the private training room.
It wasn’t a lie when he said he was more exhausted than Kate as the work he did with his low mana capacity was tremendous for someone of his level.
Collapsing on his bed, Lake laid down as he ran his Mana Circulation skill through his body, slowly recovering his expended mana while he slowly fell asleep.
A few hours later, Lake woke up in the middle of the night feeling refreshed.
The recovery effect of his Mana Circulation skill was no joke. After all, he copied it from Harper’s family Blood Vitality Technique that had extraordinary regeneration effects.
Although he wasn’t fully recovered, he was comfortable to move around again.
Looking at the time, it was around 3 AM.
After seeing that it was still late in the night, Lake got up and washed up before going to his desk.
As he sat down, he began to think.
Before they left the private training room, Kate had already promised to help him advertise the training course he planned on holding. He knew her working efficiency so there was no need to worry on that end, he would just have to wait for the effects to kick in before he could start.
His reputation with his fellow classmates was still a little unnatural so he couldn’t go gathering allies quite yet. Luckily, the training course should solve this problem once it starts.
Lake realized that the only thing left was to work on improving himself.
After all, the quest also required him to reach the Martial Grandmaster Realm within the time limit.
Thinking of this, Lake felt his head hurt. After upgrading the Arcane Knowledge Skill to the max level, Lake’s knowledge of mana and how it worked had expanded far beyond everyone else on the continent.
It was because of this, that Lake knew exactly how hard it was going to be to achieve the Martial Grandmaster Realm within one year.
Martial Apprentice is the realm of gathering mana within the body before purifying it through the Absorption Path. As a result, both Mana Capacity and Mana Strength increase until the mana can leave the body on its own, signifying that one has advanced to the Martial Warrior Realm.
A Martial Warrior could extend the mana outside of their body, capable of covering their weapons in mana to increase its effectiveness or use it to enhance their martial arts to release devastating attacks.
To advance in the Martial Warrior Realm, one must now focus on increasing their Mana Capacity as once the mana has reached the stage of exiting the body, it becomes extremely difficult to purify the mana any further through the Absorption Path.
This was because the Absorption Path of most Martial Artists had reached the limits of natural progression at this stage under the influence of mana. If one wished to increase their Mana Strength further from this point, they must advance to the Martial Master Realm by letting the Mana density within the body reach such a profound level that it radiates an aura outside the body.
This aura was the Martial Master’s signature ability, Mana Field.
It was once Lake reached here that his head started to hurt. Although difficult, Lake knew that he could definitely reach the level of Martial Master within a year.
After upgrading the Arcane Knowledge skill, Lake had a dozen ways to increase his Mana Strength under the right conditions so he could quickly advance through the Martial Apprentice Realm when the time came and reach the Martial Warrior Realm within a short period of time.
Thanks to Lake’s spellcasting skill, he could already release the mana within his body early despite it not having reached the required Mana Strength for release.
This was through the use of creating a special gateway in his body that allowed mana to flow through it at his will but it wasn’t the same as how Martial Warriors do it by releasing the mana directly through their skin.
However, it was thanks to this that Lake had a much easier time controlling the mana in his body. With the addition of this control, Lake could increase the rate at which he gathered mana by a significant level through the creation of several magic formations.
These formations would require some materials but Lake had already planned to cash in on his second favor from Kate early and asked for her guild to help with gathering the materials.
Once the materials were gathered, Lake would be able to quickly advance through the Martial Warrior Realm so long as there was enough mana in the area.
Assuming Kate managed to gather the required materials early, Lake should be able to quickly advance through the Martial Warrior Realm and reach the Martial Master Realm in less than half a year.
But once he reached the Martial Master Realm, that was where all his advantages stopped.
In the Martial Master Realm, one advanced by repeatedly condensing the already dense mana within the body. By condensing the mana within your body, you increase density of the mana even further which pushes the Mana Strength that had become stagnant during the Martial Warrior Realm to a higher level than before.
Because of this, even a single drop of mana from a Martial Master could easily suppress a Martial Warrior. This was also the reason why this level was named the Martial Master Realm, as a Warrior could never hope to fight against a Master.
Once the Mana has been condensed, it comes the process of absorbing a new batch of mana before condensing again.
The problem with this for Lake, is that there were no shortcuts to speed up the process!
If Lake wanted to advance past the Martial Master Realm, he was going to have to do things the same as everyone else. Normally, it would take a Martial Master roughly 20 years to finish the condensation stage to the point where they could then attempt to advance to the Martial Grandmaster Realm.
However, by the time Lake would have advanced to the Martial Master Realm, he would only have half a year to complete this transformation!
Sighing at this thought, Lake decided to shelve it to the back of his head. Thinking about it now was useless as it would only serve to stress him out even further.
For now, Lake pulled up his smartwatch interface as he began to work on remodeling his Mana Circulation skill.
Thanks to the new knowledge he gained from the upgraded Arcane Knowledge, he managed to find some flaws within his current skill and found some ways to even upgrade it.
In the future, this would be the skill he would be relying on to reach the Martial Grandmaster Realm so he planned on making it the strongest.
Like that, Lake spent the rest of the night working on upgrading his Mana Circulation Skill. By the time the sun came up and it was time for class, Lake decided that he would stay in today and continue to work away since he had no mandatory classes today.
However, while Lake was staying inside, word of Kate’s awakening and advancement to the Martial Warrior Realm had already spread across the entire Academy, causing an uproar among both students and teachers.
...
Far away from the Academy on an island off the coastline of a nearby city, a fierce battle was raging on.
On one side was a group of ferocious beasts that had emerged from a collapsed rift. These beasts were covered in red fur with large fangs protruding from their maws and small deformed humanoid bodies.
With a wave of their arms, a long reddish light was sent flying out, causing a long claw mark to appear on the ground. Despite their small stature, all these red fur beasts were Rank Two creatures who were currently battling a small group of humans.
These humans appeared rather young but they were able to hold their own against the group of ferocious beasts.
With a punch, one of them managed to send one of the creatures flying backwards with a shockwave as an arrow quickly flew through the air, piercing the creature’s skull while it was still midair.
At that time, a nearby beast that was waiting for an opportunity rushed up towards the muscular man that had just punched away its ally. Seeing that the man was still recovering from the recoil of his punch, the beast opened its jaw wide as its mangled teeth were bare for all to see.
With a loud roar, the creature tried to bite down on the man but before it could even close its jaw, a sword came out of nowhere, cutting off the head of the red fur beast causing blood to spray across the body of the muscular man.
"Damn it, Jayce! You shouldn’t use big skills like that when we’re surrounded by a group of creatures! Your body isn’t strong enough to tank the recoil yet so you’re only leaving yourself wide open for the other beast to attack you."
A slender man spoke out as he waved his sword at another red fur beast that was rushing towards him.
"You think I don’t know that Landur?! There were too many of them and I needed to clear up space so that I could move around or I was going to get surrounded either way!"
Jayce shouted back at the slender man as he punched towards another creature’s head as his hand was covered in a bluish aura.
Bang!
Splatter!
With a loud bang, the creature’s head exploded into several bits as blood and brain matter splatter all over.
With blood and brains covering him, Jayce’s expression was grave as he looked at the more than fifty beasts that were slowly surrounding them.
"Ahh fuck! I can’t wait to take a break after this battle. I really want to sit back with a case of beer and a box of chicken."
"You think you would get a chance? We have to head back to the Academy straight after this battle anyway and you know we can’t afford to spend points on beer and chicken if you want to graduate this year."
Hearing Landur’s words, Jayce felt like crying.
"I say, why the fuck did the Instructors have to double the graduation points requirement this year? Couldn’t they have kept it the same as last year?"
"Don’t even mention it, because of the graduation requirement, I often have to skip meals just to save on points. If it wasn’t for my mana sustaining my body, I would have starved to death by now."
Landur spoke while gritting his teeth. Right now he was suppressing his growling stomach with mana. The only thought that comforted him was that maybe he could take a bite or two out of these red fur beasts after they finished clearing them out.
Although they looked a little bit ugly and the saliva dripping from their mouth was disgusting, Landur still felt that their meat would taste good in his maddening hunger.
"Would you two shut up and focus already?!"
At this point a loud female voice shouted out causing the two men to stop speaking.
This female student was wearing a tight battle suit and had short blonde hair.
She was currently firing several arrows at a group of beasts that was fast approaching them.
"After we clear this group we still have to go and help Gwen! Don’t you two realize that she’s currently under a lot of pressure?!"
Hearing the blonde student’s shout, the two men looked at each other before looking further into the battlefield where a group of around forty red fur beasts was facing off against a single student, almost the same number as the horde that was approaching them.
With a wave of the thin longsword in her hand, a shining silvery light would fly out, slicing the approaching beasts. At times she would leap into the sky and walk atop the horde of beasts as her blade danced gracefully across the battlefield, cutting them up into several pieces as her long silver hair flew wildly in the wind.
At this time, both Landur and Jayce thought to themselves, "Pressure?! Who’s under pressure?! I think you’re mixing up the group of beasts with your teammate!"
When the two men thought this, Jayce couldn’t help but speak out.
"As expected from a Silverveil..."
