Chapter 72: Chapter 72: You don’t want another training session, do you?

When Sylph asked Lake if she could sit next to him, Lake felt that she was purposefully causing trouble.

It would have been fine if she had just walked up and sat next to him, at least that way it would seem she just wanted to sit in the back but instead she asked if she could sit next to him.

This may seem like she was being polite, but to everyone else the way she worded it was asking for trouble.

Instead of asking if she could sit in the seat next to him, she directly asked if she could sit next to him, implying that she wanted to be close to Lake and wasn’t after the seat.

Even if that wasn’t her intention and she was just bad with words, it’s too late now, the damage has been done.

Feeling the hate filled gaze of everyone in the class, Lake felt a headache.

This time it wasn’t only the boys but also some of the girls in the class that were glaring at him. This was because it seemed that wherever Sylph went, Bramble and Iris followed, leading to all of them wanting to sit next to him.

When Lake was like this, he decided to just bite the bullet and outright reject them.

"Actually I do mind-"

"Ahem!"

Suddenly, a loud cough sounded out interrupting Lake.

When he looked in the direction it came from, he could see that Instructor Alec was staring at him with a meaningful gaze.

In that instant where both of them made eye contact, thousands of messages were relayed.

"You better agree to her request."

"Teach, I really don’t want this hot potato next to me."

"Idiot, we can’t afford to offend the Fairy race, just accept your fate."

"Bullshit! I want to exercise my right to choose."

"Overruled, I am your teacher and hold the power to affect your final grade."

"Nonsense! This is an abuse of power!"

Lake slammed his fist against the table, startling everyone. Staring at Alec, his eyes never wavered as they continued their silent conversation.

Seeing Lake’s anger, Alec only shrugged in response as he raised one finger to the sky which conveyed a whole other message to Lake.

"You’re dealing with a whole other race. If you somehow manage to offend them, I won’t even need to do anything, the government will do it for me."

Seeing this, Lake gritted his teeth.

"E-excuse me? Are you okay?"

Suddenly, Sylph spoke out, bringing Lake back to reality.

"Ah, I’m fine." Lake replied dryly.

"That’s good, but is it still okay if I sit here?" Sylph asked once more, this time with a slight anxious expression on her face as if she feared rejection.

Seeing this, Lake wanted to reject once more but gritted his teeth when he thought about Alec who was quietly watching from the front of the classroom.

Suddenly, Lake had an idea as a smile slowly formed on his face.

"Please, be my guest."

"That’s great! Ah, I mean, um- Thank you!" Sylph spoke as a blissful smile appeared on her face as if Lake had just granted her greatest wish.

Seeing this, Lake sensed that the level of jealousy in the classroom increased by another level.

Not daring to meet the gaze of his other classmates, Lake only nodded his head before getting up, gesturing for Sylph to take a seat.

"T-Thanks!" Sylph thanked Lake again before gracefully sitting down in the seat next to him, a blooming smile appearing on her face.

"What about you two?" Lake suddenly spoke as he looked at Bramble and Iris.

"We would like to sit with her as well if possible." Iris spoke with a calm expression.

"That’s great, really great." As Lake spoke, he could feel the anger of everyone in the classroom rising but didn’t care at this point as he walked up and gently pushed the two to the seats on either side of Sylph.

"Since you all seem to be well acquainted already I wouldn’t dare to separate you so you should all sit together. Let you all get used to the new environment together."

Lake spoke with a smile on his face as he helped Bramble and Iris get seated next to Sylph. With all three of them sitting next to each other, there was barely any space left for Lake to sit down in the back row.

When everything was done and people were starting to wonder where Lake was going to sit, they saw him suddenly step back slightly before leaping into the air!

As they all watched with wide eyes, they saw Lake lightly land in front of the classroom, next to a seat between Kate and another student.

Without hesitation, Lake pushed Kate aside before sitting down between the two.

Kate was about to start arguing with Lake for suddenly pushing her aside but then she got a glimpse of Lake’s emotionless, icy blue eyes, instantly paralyzing her with fear as the nightmare that she thought she had overcome already, came back to haunt her.

"Teach, I helped the new students get accommodated to their seats! Unfortunately there was no room left for me so I had to move down. I hope classmate Kate doesn’t mind my presence."

As Lake spoke he turned his eyes to stare at Kate with a gentle expression, but in that expression, Kate could feel the underlying threat.

"You better play along if you don’t want another ’training session’."

Before Kate could even process what was happening, her body scrummed to an instinctual fear as she weakly replied, "I-I don’t mind..."

Instantly, the entire classroom fell into a deathly silence.

The only one who didn’t seem to be affected by the silence was Sylph, who was watching everything with curious eyes.

Alec, seeing this silence made a noise akin to him clearing his throat before speaking out, "Alright, since everyone seems to have settled down, I wish you all a productive day."

Alec wasted no time after that as he quickly escaped the classroom, not wanting to deal with the sudden situation.

Lake only smiled as he watched him leave before turning to look at Kate who seemed to have come back to her senses.

Gritting her teeth, she glared at Lake.

"I thought I got over my fear of this bastard, why the hell did I bow so easily. This is bad, I have to deal with this before something bad happens..." Kate thought to herself as she looked at the smiling Lake beside her.

"Bastard, why did you have to sit next to me?"

Lake glanced at Kate sideways before replying causally, "Because you’re the only one who wouldn’t push me away or make things difficult for me."

"There were plenty of empty seats in the class, you could have chosen one of them."

"I could, but what was to stop them from following me to my new seat?" Lake spoke as he pointed his thumb finger behind him.

This time Kate only inhaled deeply as she tried to lower her blood pressure.

"I’m too young for this..." Kate told herself as she frowned.

Turning her attention back to the front of the class, she rested her chin on her palm as she waited for class to start, not wanting to deal with Lake any longer lest she get any angrier.

...

While Kate and Lake were arguing on the side, everyone else was also silently whispering to each other.

In one corner, the boys were silently weeping as they glared daggers at Lake.

"God damnit, why is it always him?"

"Does he not rest unless he is somehow related to all the beautiful girls in the class?"

"Not only is he handsome, he is also strong too, the world is unfair."

"That’s it, I’ve decided. I’m gonna jump him, I don’t care if he’s stronger. Who’s with me?"

"Ay Sir!" All the boys in the corner shouted out as their eyes were filled with a silent fury.

Bradford who sat a few rows below them only shook his head.

Allen who sat next to him made a whistling sound as he smiled mischievously, "I must admit, this Lake has his methods. I wonder how he managed to get the attention of the fairy race when they only arrived today?"

"Coincidence." Bradford suddenly spoke out.

"Hmm? What do you mean? Do you know something?"

"It’s nothing. Just a guess."

"What’s with that? Tell me about it."

"Maybe later, the teacher just arrived."

...

As the class was going on, the group of fairies in the back were also speaking with a wind-like barrier around them, preventing sound from getting out.

"Princess, why did you want to sit here?" Iris spoke out in a language completely different to anything heard on the Grey Dragon Continent.

Although she could speak the local language of the humans thanks to the blessing of language, she still preferred to speak in her native tongue.

Sylph who heard Iris’ question, only giggled softly as she seemed to be playing with something invisible in the air.

"Hehe, It’s nothing, I just saw that it seemed to be a nice spot."

As she spoke, she turned her head to look at a handsome student who seemed to be paying deep attention to the lecture by the instructor.

Shifting her gaze, she saw an equally if not slightly more handsome student at another corner.

When Sylph saw these two men, her eyes brightened as she made a brilliant smile with her two hands pressed against her cheeks.

"I think this academy might be more amusing than I originally thought..."

Iris didn’t say anything in response to Sylph’s murmur and only turned her cold eyes to Lake.

"Dare to disrespect her highness like that..."
