Chapter 64: Sacred Class

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Sacred Class

Inside a large classroom, Lake sat towards the back of the class which was on an elevated platform.

In front of him he had a clear view of the entire classroom and all the students that Lake guessed to be his future classmates.

Among the students, Lake could see some familiar faces that he remembered from the Martial Arts Course Exam.

He saw Kate sitting near the front of the classroom as she scrolled through the holographic interface of her wristband.

Then there were Allen and Bradford who sat near each other on one end of the classroom.

Looking at the silvery sparks of lightning radiating off of Bradford’s fate, Lake was given another reminder about someone’s fate he couldn’t read.

When he first saw Bradford he had tried to read through his fate again but the same message saying that his skill level wasn’t high enough appeared.

As for the rest of the students, Lake vaguely remembered them being the ones that ranked high during the exam. Including himself, there were 20 of them so he assumed that the class was made up of the top 20.

As Lake was about to start reading through all their fate out of boredom, the classroom door opened as another familiar figure walked in.

He had a scruffy beard and wore thinly framed glasses and a long black trench coat.

"Hello class, my name is Alec Malcom, you can call me Professor Malcom or Teach’ during your stay here and starting from today, I will be your new homeroom teacher."

Alec spoke as he stood in front of the classroom, sweeping his gaze across the class. It seems that most students were disinterested in his introduction with only a few paying attention.

"I’m also a low-rank Martial Grandmaster. Since I am newly ascended I haven’t had the chance to figure out my ranking among the other Grandmasters, but it should be somewhere in the top 800."

This time, when Alec spoke, all the students that weren’t paying attention suddenly paused in shock before they looked over at Alec with wide eyes.

Seeing their reaction, Lake was also slightly amused. On the Grey Dragon Continent, there were officially around ten million martial artists out of the entire continent’s 1.2 billion population.

Out of that ten million, almost the entirety of them were made up of Martial Apprentice and Marital Warriors.

There were only around ten thousand masters that made it to the Martial Master realm, and a thousand that reached the Martial Grandmaster Realm.

That’s why everyone was so surprised by what Alec said. If they were to believe what he said was true, that would mean that he was currently one of the strongest Martial Artists on the continent.

Of course, the students were aware that there were a few Grandmaster experts that worked in the Academy. The reason why they were so shocked was due to Alec’s age.

To them he looked to be in his mid to late thirties. Among Grandmaster level practitioners, that was considered to be an extremely young age considering that most Grandmaster experts were in their fifties.

After he had successfully captured everyone’s attention, Alec spoke as he gave a wide grin.

"Now that I’ve captured everyone’s attention, let’s continue with the introductions shall we? I am the homeroom teacher of Sacred Class, which is the class that the twenty of you have been placed in based on the skill level you displayed during the entrance exam. Each of you all possess a similar level of skill, all displaying superior grade performance during the exam. Well, except for the two surpassers."

Hearing his words, Lake could see some of the students turn their gaze to look at him and Bradford.

"Now, here at the Academy we do things a little differently. Since all of you can be considered talents in your own aspects, we believe that it’s better for you to find your own path when training. The teachers are only here to guide you on the path you’ve chosen, which is why, besides the two mandatory classes you’ll have to attend every other day, students are free to attend any of the other classes that our professors regularly host and train at their own leisure."

"Huh?" Hearing Alec’s explanation, everyone was slightly stunned.

"It seems that the Academy likes to give its students a lot of freedom." Lake thought to himself.

"Although you could choose to slack off at your own discretion, I don’t recommend doing it. Here at the Academy we have a special way of graduating and moving up to the next grade. You all should have already seen your points I take it? Although those points are used for a lot of things in the academy, I don’t recommend spending them too frequently as they are also used for you to purchase the right to move up in grade at the end of each year."

Instantly everyone’s expression turned grave. Lake was able to maintain his cool as he had already seen some of this when he went through the teachers’ fates.

"Teach, out of curiosity, how many points are required to advance to the next grade?" A girl with short blond hair asked weakly.

"Five thousand points."

This time, Lake’s eye twitched slightly. When he went through the teachers’ fates before, the price was only one thousand points. Why the hell did it increase?

"That’s the point requirement for this year’s batch of Scared Class. Previously, the price was only one thousand, but after we saw the score of the top examiner of this year’s batch of students as well as the overwhelming talent that everyone showcased during the test, we decided to increase the price to help motivate all the talented students to practice hard!"

As if to answer Lake’s question, Alec spoke with a mischievous smile.

Lake could suddenly feel a heavy malicious intent fill the classroom as it was all directed towards him.

"What? It definitely wasn’t all my fault. A part of it was thanks to their talents too, so why did everyone unanimously decide to hate on me?" Lake thought to himself as he watched the hatred filled gaze of everyone staring at him.

"Not to worry however. Due to the sudden increase in the price, we’ve also made a lot more opportunities for students to earn points this year. Besides the regular way of earning points by attending classes and taking tests, there will also be a variety of events for students to partake in that would earn them points!"

Hearing this, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief, however, the malicious intent they had towards Lake still hadn’t faded.

Alec went on to explain some other basic rules and customs within the Academy along with their seclude.

After he finished speaking an hour had passed.

"Alright, that’s the basics of everything I have to tell you. The rest is up to you all to figure out. You can use your smart band to research information about the Academy and the various classes using the RDA-Web app on it. You’re free to roam the school for the rest of the day or do whatever you want. Classes officially start tomorrow."

After he finished speaking, Alec walked out the classroom door leaving the group of students behind.

Lake watched as a few students finally started making their moves.

Some of them grouped together and tried to make friends while others continued to play with their smart bands.

Lake looked on in amusement as Kate, Bradford and even Allen got surrounded by groups of students trying to talk to them.

No one came up to him and at this point Lake wasn’t sure if it was because they were scared of him or just didn’t like him after what Alec announced.

Looking at Kate getting surrounded, Lake saw her easily diffuse the crowd and take control over it like a social elite.

Lake had already seen her background from her fate and knew she was most likely scouting out potential recruits for her guild.

Bradford and Allen talked a bit with the other students before getting up and walking out together.

Seeing how close Allen was acting with Bradford, Lake got curious about what happened between the two as he didn’t remember them being that close before the entrance exam when he went through Allen’s fate.

However, before he could read through Allen’s fate to figure out what had happened, they had already left the classroom.

Seeing that there was no longer a point to staying in the class any longer, Lake got up and walked out of the classroom.

He was going to head back to his dorm room and check out this so-called ’King’ video he heard about in the auditorium.

As Lake walked out, Kate took the chance to glance over towards him but quickly turned back her eyes to continue interacting with the chattering students that surrounded her.

...

Bradford and Allen walked towards the first years’ training grounds.

Bradford led the way while Allen followed with his hands grasped together behind his neck.

"Damn, who would have thought the academy would have been so hardcore with its system?" Allen asked.

Bradford remained silent but Allen acted like he was used to it and continued.

"What was up with that Lake dude anyway? I remember him when we took the qualifier exams together but I didn’t realize he was such a badass until I saw his video. Now that I am seeing him in person again, it’s like watching two entirely different people. What do you think of him?"

Bradford shifted his gaze to the side to look at Allen before turning it forward.

"Definitely abnormal, but it doesn’t matter right now. I remember you saying your Fitness Index was still below 2. Now that we have the academy’s facilities, let’s go fix that shall we?"

Seeing Bradford’s cold smile, Allen suddenly felt a chill.

"For the entire vacation all you did was keep me training day and night. Although I did become stronger from it, I now have trouble sleeping at night because of you. Can’t we just relax for a day?"

Bradford looked at Allen with a dead look in his eyes causing Allen to tense up.

"What do you think?"

"..."

"Understood, boss."
