Chapter 122: A Little... Lackluster

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: A Little... Lackluster

The black flames covering the sky caused the audience to go into a silent panic. The Mana Field was still suppressing them so all they could do was look on in silent horror.

The members of Prestige were all stunned.

Where did the black flames come from? How did it burn away all the blood so fast? Why did it only cover the sky?

All these questions were racing through their minds as they tried to figure out what was going on.

The scorching heat they felt on their skins served as a reminder that this wasn’t a dream.

While everyone was staring at the black flames in a daze, a shadowy figure was dashing through the auditorium unnoticed.

Everyone was focused on the flames and as a result, no one noticed the bodies that were constantly dropping to the floor.

Whoosh!

Just as quickly as it came, the black flames also vanished.

The only signs of its presence were the scorched edges at the top of the auditorium.

"Hm~" After being momentarily fazed by the black flames, the woman on the stage still had a relaxed smile on her face.

Looking around the auditorium, it didn’t take her long to notice the corpses of her men scattered about.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am sincerely sorry about the sudden interruption of the play. It seems like an uninvited guest has snuck into the theater."

"Unfortunately, it would seem that we have to cut the play short as the main prop has been destroyed."

Upon saying this, a sad expression appeared on the woman’s face, a complete opposite to the excited expressions of the audience.

’We can live!’ This was the thought screaming through the minds of the audience.

At that point, one of the handsome men on stage walked up to the woman.

The audience had already grown familiar with him as he was one of the main actors for the play.

"Mother, are we really stopping the play?"

"Sigh, Ray, there is nothing we can do. Not to mention that the Blood Moon has been destroyed, the hunters also seemed to have noticed something. I can sense that quite a few of them have already gathered outside and after that fire show just now, I expect more to be on their way."

"Unless you wish to die trying to do something that would never happen, we have no choice but to retreat for now. Go with the rest of your brothers and sisters."

Ray’s face twisted unnaturally upon hearing her words but he didn’t complain.

"Are you not leaving with us?"

"I won’t be leaving yet. Someone will have to stay back to buy the rest of you time to escape."

"Besides, I’m quite curious about the little rat that snuck in. Even after sweeping my senses throughout the entire room, I still can’t find even the slightest trace of him."

Hearing the woman’s words, a look of surprise flashed through Ray’s eyes before he nodded his head slightly and walked back to the rest of the members on stage.

....

"They’re retreating..."

Watching the backs of the robed figures walking behind the stage, Lake was slightly surprised.

Although he knew retreating was the best option for them, he didn’t expect them to actually do it after seeing how crazily they had behaved throughout the night.

There was also another piece of news that Lake picked up on while listening to the conversation between the man named Ray and the woman he called mother.

"It seems that Kate did her part..."

Knowing that there were hunters gathered outside, most of Lake’s worries vanished.

With the group of hunters, Lake wouldn’t have to worry too much about the outcome of the battle.

The hunters would do most of the heavy lifting, he just had to prepare the battlefield for them beforehand.

Thinking of this, Lake turned his eyes to the stage.

Seeing that Leah was safe for now, he breathed a small sigh of relief.

He didn’t know that she was among the audience nor did he expect to see her up on stage.

That’s why when he saw her, he was so shocked.

He felt his heart leap causing him to rush down immediately.

Luckily, the demon girl’s spell seemed to have left everyone stunned long enough for him to make a move.

He was quite surprised by how effective it was despite being cast from such a long distance away, but he would take the time to slowly study it later.

With most of the robed men in the crowd dead, and the blood that had gathered in the sky burned away, it seemed that the woman had given up on her original plans.

However, he couldn’t be completely sure that she was safe as his ability to see the future was still disrupted.

The fates of everyone was currently switching back and forth, signaling that they weren’t out of the danger yet.

"For now, let’s create a ruckus," Lake thought to himself.

He was currently seated amongst the audience.

Although his black attire would usually attract countless gazes, in the current silent crowd where no one could speak or turn their heads, Lake’s existence went mostly unnoticed.

Whoosh!

"ROAR!!"

Almost as if on cue, a black figure with large wings swooped into the auditorium from the sky.

BOOM!

The figure flew towards the woman, landing heavily on the stage sending dust and debris cascading through the air.

When the smoke cleared, the woman had already jumped backwards before looking at the black Gargoyle before it.

"A monster? How peculiar~" The woman, still with a charming smile, carefully observed the Gargoyle.

Its large body was muscular with stone-like skin. its ferocious red eyes were glaring at here as it mumbled something in its incomprehensible language.

After reading through the fate of the Gargoyle, Lake knew that its physical power was around the level of a Low Rank Martial Master.

However, despite being as strong as a Martial Master, it lacked the unique abilities that they were known for, Mana Field.

In exchange, it possessed a unique ability, one that would allow it to fight even High Rank Martial Masters if activated.

If Lake had not reacted fast enough and failed to seal its movements after it came out of the rift, he wasn’t sure if he would’ve been able to contain it, even with the assistance of the mana storm.

"Are you going to make a move, or should I come to you?"

Whether the Gargoyle understood her taunt or not, Lake wasn’t aware, but in the next instances, he saw the Gargoyle use its own claws to rip into its flesh, causing red marks to appear across its chest.

"Wraaah!"

Releasing a loud battle cry, the Gargoyle flapped its large wings before appearing in front of the woman in an instance.

Whoosh!

"You’ve certainly grown faster~ Was that a self-harm power up move?"

The Gargoyle roared furiously at the woman’s taunt as it brought its massive claws down.

Kaboom!

A portion of the stage was destroyed again as the woman narrowly avoided the Gargoyle’s attack.

"Fufu~ How mighty~"

Gargoyle, furious at the fact that the woman had dodged his attack, continued to attack with even greater momentum.

Unfortunately, despite the sudden increase in the Gargoyle’s speed and strength, it seemed as if the woman was only treating this as a mere game, easily dodging all of its attacks.

After ducking under the Gargoyle’s claw slash, the woman did a graceful flip, stretching her long legs towards the sky, hitting the Gargoyle directly in its chin, causing its massive eight foot body to go flying into the air.

"Is that all you have? If so, I’m going to be extremely disappointed."

"Bishi!(Bitch!)"

Although the Gargoyle had no clue what the woman was saying, he could sense the mocking tone in her voice, sending him into a fury.

It shouted out another word before rushing towards the woman.

Their fight quickly escalated and soon the two of them were dashing all across the auditorium.

The woman seemed to care little for the lives of the audience as she used her mana field to suppress everything in the large room.

The Gargoyle was unaffected by the mana field and continued to rush at her, leading their fight away from the stage.

As the two continued their battle, Lake had already snuck up to the side of the stage.

Just now, when the Gargoyle had landed, the stage was destroyed and Leah and the other guests on top were sent flying.

Unable to even sit up properly, they were all forcefully pressed against the ground by the mana field whose power had only intensified after the battle began.

Lake was able to walk around mostly unbothered thanks to the protection from his King’s Aura, but even he was struggling to walk even a step under the current pressure.

Luckily, the woman seemed to be preoccupied with the Gargoyle and didn’t notice his silent movement.

Finding Leah lying flat on her sides, Lake quickly walked over and flipped her over.

Seeing that she was unconscious, Lake quickly picked her up before moving her body to the side, away from all the chaos.

BOOM!

A piece of the auditorium on the left wing was destroyed in the fight between the charming woman and the Gargoyle.

Lake could see that a piece of the wall had collapsed, crushing a few helpless victims under the rubble.

Lake felt his heart slightly sink upon seeing the crushed bodies.

This battle was never meant to happen nor were these terrorists supposed to be here. None of these people were destined to die yet so many had already fallen.

Seeing all this truly infuriated him but for now, there was nothing he could do but try to save as many as he could.

Moving the rest of the guests that were dragged up onto the stage aside, Lake glanced across the large hall.

The Gargoyle and woman had started to fight mid air now, destroying various parts of the room.

As another piece of rubble was falling towards a group of helpless members of the audience, Lake reacted almost instantly this time, firing a spell at the falling debris.

Boom!

The large piece of rubble exploded into many smaller pieces that scattered across the room.

Although the pieces hit a few people in the head, injuring them in the process, no one died.

"It seems that the little rat has finally revealed himself!"

Unfortunately, it seems that the charming woman had taken notice of the exploding rubble, spotting Lake’s illusionary figure in the process.

Bang!

After kicking away the sturdy Gargoyle, the woman rushed towards Lake with a menacing glow in her eyes.

"You ruined tonight’s play, I wonder how you plan to compensate me?"

Seeing the woman rushing towards him, Lake didn’t move but instead subtly smiled.

Although the woman before him had messed with his Observer of Fate skill, the Master of Fate wasn’t someone who only observed fate, but also wrote it.

Looking at the black halo that appeared above the woman’s head, he knew he had already won.

When the woman was about to reach in front of him, she suddenly sensed something causing her to back off.

BANG!

In an instant, the space between Lake and the women was drowned in brilliant starlight.

The woman’s expression turned cold as she watched at the figure that had dropped down from the sky.

His expression was chillingly cold, causing the woman who was previously smiling to frown.

With his appearance, Lake felt the pressure that was bearing down on his body instantly let up, allowing him to move around freely again.

The man kept his eyes on the woman without speaking a word.

"My, I didn’t expect the famous Moonlight Grandmaster to show up as well. Tonight surely is full of surprises-"

Swoosh!

Cut!

Before the woman could finish speaking, Lake’s eyes widened as he saw the astonishing scene before him.

In front of the man the woman called the Moonlight Grandmaster, a wave of light had flashed out, decapitating the woman in an instant.

Lake didn’t even see the man move and before he knew it, the woman who had so deeply infuriated him had died without a chance to speak.

Although he had expected it, he couldn’t help but feel that the resolution to this whole night was a little... lackluster.
