Chapter 121: Glowing Moon

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Glowing Moon

Lake didn’t waste any time as he activated his King’s Aura.

As the majestic aura spread out, it worked with the mana to completely suppress the demon girl he was holding.

He saw her teary eyes widen.

"Do you submit?"

Lake asked a simple question.

Although he didn’t know if the demon girl could understand him or not, he was sure that his meaning was conveyed as he clenched his hands tightly around her neck.

As time went on, Lake’s King’s Aura continued to suppress the demon girl before her own King’s Aura was forced out.

This was similar to what the Spider Empress did to him when they first met.

Using her King’s Aura, she had suppressed him, causing his own King’s Aura to get riled up before releasing on its own to defend him.

With the demon girl’s King’s Aura now released, Lake asked once more, this time, with clear intent to kill if she said no.

He wasn’t going to risk letting a creature from a rift go, no matter how harmless they appeared.

Besides, Lake had a feeling he would acquire a substantial amount of RP if he were to absorb the fates of these three demons.

Luckily, it didn’t take long for the demon girl to make a decision as she quickly nodded her head.

With the demon girl’s confirmation, Lake began to define the terms of the King’s Pact between them.

He didn’t have much time to come up with a detailed contract, so Lake kept the terms fairly simple. He wasn’t sure if she could understand his words, but he would prefer if she didn’t.

Otherwise, she might choose death over submission.

After only a few seconds, Lake stated his terms and the demon girl simply nodded her head in agreement, confirming that she really didn’t understand a word he said.

He wasn’t allowing her to talk either as he was afraid that she may say something he didn’t understand and mess with the terms of the King’s Pact.

After using some mana to create a small cut on both of their fingers, Lake allowed his blood to fly up with his aura and so did the demon girl.

Once the two drops of blood mixed together, the King’s Pact was formed as Lake felt a subtle change in his King’s Aura.

It felt slightly stronger but he didn’t think much of it.

With the pact formed, he released his grip on the demon girl.

"Cough! Cough!"

Upon being freed from Lake’s iron grip, the demon girl fell into a coughing fit as tears fell from her eyes.

The Gargoyle and Imp were howling in despair behind Lake as they shouted what Lake could only assume to be all manners of profanity at him.

Lake didn’t mind as he also released the restrictions on the Gargoyle and Imp.

After only a brief moment, the gargoyle rushed at Lake who remained unphased.

"Suwah!"

Whoosh!

Lake stared undisturbed at the Gargoyle’s claw in front of him.

The demon girl had already released her own aura in full, forcefully stopping the gargoyle in its tracks.

"It seems she finally realized the terms of the contract..." Lake silently thought as he watched the ever increasing despair on the little demon’s face.

The King’s Pact he made her sign had several extremely unfair terms in it, including a term that stated if any harm were to come to him from a result of her actions or the actions of her followers, the King’s Aura in her body would rampage and kill her.

Seeing that everything had worked out, Lake released a slight sigh. Now that he had his chess pieces, it was time to make a move.

With control over the demon girl, he had also gained control over the Gargoyle and Imp, who were under her command.

Unfortunately, it seems like the demon race of the other world used a completely different power system from his own, so he was unable to determine their exact strength.

However, judging from the snippets of their fates he had seen, he had a rough estimate.

"Magic." Lake pointed at the demon girl.

He then proceeded to point towards the auditorium directly below them.

Although Lake couldn’t communicate directly with his new found subordinates, the King’s Aura was able to roughly get the message across so long as he kept his orders simple.

"Attack. Target, robed individuals."

His orders were simple, but it seemed to have conveyed the meaning as the demon girl weakly nodded her head.

Opening her red book, she began to flip through the pages.

"Wait five minutes before attacking. Send down the gargoyle once the battle starts. Afterwards, remain here and don’t leave the storm. Oh, and order the gargoyle to obey all my commands through my King’s Aura."

This time Lake gave a few more complex commands, but it seemed that the demon girl had a rough understanding of them as she nodded her head after a short delay.

With the preparations complete, Lake looked down at the auditorium below.

A thick red mist had already appeared in the air with a ball of blood hovering over the theater.

Less than half an hour had passed since Lake had left the auditorium, yet it appeared that Prestige was close to completing their play.

As Lake was looking at the stage however, his eyes suddenly widened as he spotted a familiar figure.

In an instant, Lake’s figure vanished from where it previously stood as he flew straight down.

....

In the auditorium, a thick metallic smell permeated the air.

Most of the audience had already fallen into a deep depression under the cruel narration of the charming woman.

They were forced to look at the stage, unable to turn away from the gruesome sight under her control and could only tightly shut their eyes to save themselves from the nightmarish imagery.

At a corner of the stage, more than forty corpses had already been piled up. Their bodies were dried up and looked like nothing more than husk of what they were.

On the stage itself, ten more victims had already been brought forth like lambs to a slaughter.

One of the victims was getting a few looks of sympathy from members of the audience.

It was a young lady with long black hair and a short stature.

She had pale white skin and reminded one of a porcelain doll when one looked at her.

Her eyes were hollow and despair was visible on her face, however, if one were to look deeply, they could see a small hint of relief as well as pity on her face.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it has been such a wonderful night. We sincerely hope that you have enjoyed this experience."

"Now, we will be moving onto the final scene of the play."

Under the charming woman’s sudden announcement, a flash of long lost hope appeared in the audience’s eyes.

If this was truly the last part of this nightmarish play, maybe they might have a chance to survive.

As the stage was set once more, the charming woman began to narrate the final act of the play.

"I guess this is my fate..." Leah thought as she felt her body move like a puppet under the control of the woman.

"Evelyn... I’m so sorry I brought you here. I should have just left you at home, at least this way you wouldn’t have to suffer so much. I know you’re already struggling after Lake, yet here I am only making it worse."

As she moved under the command of the woman, she remembered the scene that had just occurred.

The robed assistants of the charming woman had come to collect the final actors for the play, walking up and grabbing Evelyn from her chair.

Leah felt her heart shatter upon seeing this. She was the one who brought Evelyn to this theater, insisting that they come to watch a play to lighten their mood.

However, to their dismay, a terrorist organization had launched an attack, holding the entire audience hostage and forcing them to be a part of their cruel game.

Seeing that the robed men had taken Evelyn, Leah couldn’t help but feel like this was all her fault.

The guilt she felt made her feel sick to her stomach. She wanted to throw up.

It felt like her heart had been hollowed out as a warm air stayed trapped in her throat.

Tears were welling up in her eyes but for some reason, she could feel a strong resolve rising up inside her.

Looking at the robed figures, she didn’t know where she got the strength from, but she managed to briefly resist the woman’s Mana Field and shouted out for them to take her instead.

It was the only way for her to cope with this heart wrenching guilt she felt.

She could see the sudden look of despair in Evelyn’s eyes.

If it wasn’t for the force suppressing Evelyn still being active, there was no doubt in Leah’s mind that Evelyn would’ve chosen to die instead.

Thankfully or not, Leah’s plea seemed to amuse the charming woman, letting her exchange Evelyn for herself.

That was how she ended up on the stage, dancing under the control of the charming woman.

"I’m so sorry..."

In the end, that was all she could say.

She was sorry for bringing her here. She was sorry for causing her to experience so much pain. She was sorry for selfishly throwing away her own life to satisfy her own guilt, even though she knew that it would only cause her more pain.

As she danced, she couldn’t help but gaze at the sky, a crystal teardrop sliding down her cheeks.

The sky was blocked by the bloody mist as the Blood Moon hovered gently in the air.

Leah felt disgusted just looking at it, but in this already eerie and grim hall, it strangely held a unique charm that made her feel slightly fascinated.

Closing her eyes, she resisted the feelings of fear in her heart as she dimly accepted her fate.

"!"

However, when Leah opened her eyes again, what she saw wasn’t the Blood Moon or the red sky, but a sea of roaring black flames.

Despite the heat, the dazzling flames looked extraordinarily beautiful in that one moment.

As the black flames covered the red sky, it burned away the metallic smell that once engulfed the entire auditorium, allowing Leah to see something that caused her eyes to widen.

It was the most brilliant light that had been lost in the misery of the night. Its radiant glow shone through the cracks of the black flames and bloody mist, comforting her as her desolate heart suddenly felt full again.

Looking at the glowing moon, Leah could feel an endless stream of tears sliding down her face.
