My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 320 Unable to Bear
Chapter 320: Chapter 320 Unable to Bear
Wen Ran looked over.
On the sofa—wasn’t that the white gift bag the woman had given him?
It couldn’t be left at the office, and now it even had to be taken back to the villa?
Wen Ran gritted her teeth silently but said nothing, quietly walking over to pick up the white gift bag.
It felt quite heavy. She had no idea what was inside.
She walked over to Fu Chenlie, followed behind him out of the office, headed to the elevator, got in, and went downstairs.
The underground parking garage.
After unlocking the car, Wen Ran placed the white gift bag on the back seat, then walked to the driver’s seat, ready to start driving.
Just before she climbed into the car, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
She turned around and saw Fu Chenlie staring at her with an unclear expression. He spoke calmly, "What’s the matter?"
He said, "I’ll drive today."
"Why?"
"You’re not in the right state of mind. You’d easily cause an accident."
Wen Ran was first startled, then instinctively denied it. "I’m not out of sorts, you’re overthinking it."
"Alright, you’re not. Let’s just say this husband is being considerate of his madam today and wants to help her drive, okay?"
"Spare me."
After tossing out these four words, she freed her wrist from his grasp and spoke politely yet distantly, "Boss, please go sit in the passenger seat. Driving is my job."
Fu Chenlie chuckled, with an unreadable look in his eyes as he raised his tone, "Mrs. Fu, didn’t I tell you not to talk back? Have you forgotten again?"
Wen Ran froze.
In that fleeting moment of distraction, he had already pulled her over and stuffed her into the passenger seat. Then he returned to the driver’s side, got into the car, buckled his seatbelt, and started the engine.
Wen Ran sat there in stunned silence. Her eyes involuntarily glanced at the rearview mirror, and she noticed two colleagues from the secretarial office standing behind the car, staring at them as if discussing something.
She looked at Fu Chenlie in a panic, "Boss, someone saw us!"
"So they saw us. So what?"
"But I’m just a driver. If they see you driving, or worse, see you dragging me into the passenger seat, they might..."
Fu Chenlie remained completely unbothered, speaking in a casual tone, "And so what if they do?"
Wen Ran was nearly frantic, "People will misunderstand our relationship! By tomorrow, the entire company will be buzzing with rumors about us!"
He let out a slight scoff, utterly indifferent, "Let them think whatever they want. It doesn’t matter."
She gritted her teeth and couldn’t help but retort, "You’re the boss. Of course, you don’t care. I’m just a worker—every ugly rumor will be thrown at me. You have no idea how difficult it is for women in the workplace when there’s even the slightest hint of connection with their superior. It’s unbearable!"
By then, the car had already left the underground parking garage.
The man clearly noticed that Wen Ran was off today. Her tone and mood now sounded as though she had suffered some great injustice, and in her eyes, the source of that grievance seemed to be... him?
Fu Chenlie was utterly baffled, "What’s wrong with you, exactly?"
"What’s wrong? Everything I’ve said is true. You just don’t understand."
"Trust me, I won’t let the things you’re worried about happen."
Wen Ran turned her head away and stared out the window.
Trust him?
Trust him, after he’d promised loyalty to her, only to end up being patted on the shoulder by another woman right afterward?
Men’s nonsense was utterly untrustworthy!
Wen Ran’s chest felt tight the entire ride. She thought she might actually be in pain, as though breast hyperplasia had already come knocking.
She didn’t want to get sick, so she tried to take deep breaths to adjust her mood. But the heavy feeling pressed down on her like a mountain, making relaxation seem impossible...
