Chapter 321: Chapter 321: Are We Not Getting a Divorce Anymore?

After returning to Huan Island Villa, the two sat down to have dinner together.

After dinner, Wen Ran slipped straight into the bedroom. Before going to sleep, she didn’t go to find Fu Chenlie to fulfill their mutually agreed-upon rational hug, nor did he come looking for her.

For the rest of the week, Fu Chenlie was busy with work involving Huasheng Technology. During the day, he would attend meetings there to stay updated on the latest developments from the R&D team.

He was so busy that he didn’t even have time after work for their usual flirting.

Kissing, hugging—all of it was completely forgotten.

Even that woman who had delivered the white gift bag to Fu Chenlie the other day hadn’t appeared in the past couple of days, as if she had vanished into thin air.

On Saturday morning, Wen Ran was still enjoying her sleep-in when a series of knocks on the door woke her.

She turned over a few times in the bed, but in the end, she couldn’t ignore the annoying noise. She opened her eyes, groggily got out of bed, and went to answer the door.

Standing outside was Fu Chenlie, dressed in casual home attire. His tall, poised figure exuded natural grace. As his gaze met hers, his thin lips carried a faint smile. "Mrs. Fu hasn’t had enough sleep?"

Wen Ran was now mostly awake. She pressed her lips together lightly and said, "I’ve had enough. Do you need something?"

In a deep voice, he replied, "How about I take you to lunch?"

"Aren’t we attending a banquet tonight? There should be good food there, right? No need to go out for lunch again."

"No matter how good the food at the banquet is, can it compare to a fine dining restaurant?"

Having been roused from her sleep, she still felt unrested. She yawned before responding, "Didn’t we go to a high-end restaurant last time? It wasn’t worth it. I don’t want to go again."

The man glanced at his wristwatch, fixing his eyes on her as he said in a deep voice, "This time, it’s a high-end restaurant with great value for money. If you want more sleep, go back to bed for a while. We’ll leave at eleven. It’s still early now."

Wen Ran, still preoccupied with the matter of that woman, had felt no opportunity to address it these days with him being so busy. Now that he had free time and wished to take her out for lunch, for some reason, she suddenly didn’t feel like cooperating. "Can’t we just eat at home?"

"I have something to tell you."

"Can’t you say it at home?"

Fu Chenlie’s response was firm and final: "No."

Wen Ran pressed her lips together. "Fine. I’ll come out at eleven. For now, I’d like to catch a bit more sleep."

With that, she closed the door with a sharp "bang," returned to the bedroom, and climbed back into bed.

All was quiet once more. She lay nestled in the still-warm blanket and closed her eyes, but sleep eluded her.

Who exactly was that woman from the other day?

If Fu Chenlie’s first love was Jiang Wan Ning, was that woman his admirer?

No, his attitude toward admirers should be like his interactions with CEO Zhou.

Could it be... his first relationship?

Wen Ran speculated on a few possibilities, but none of them seemed plausible to even herself. After tossing and turning for half an hour without falling asleep, she got up to wash and carefully put on her makeup.

The makeup could serve for lunch at noon and, with a touch-up later, would also be suitable for the evening banquet.

Getting two uses out of one look, she thought it was worth the extra time and effort.

...

Fu Chenlie took Wen Ran to a rooftop restaurant with a view overlooking the entire Jiang City.

Before eating, Wen Ran glanced at the breathtaking scenery outside, then turned her gaze back to the impeccably noble and handsome face across the table. "What is it you wanted to say to me?"

He picked up some food for her and replied in a deep voice, "Let’s eat while we talk."

She responded with a soft "Hmm."

Fu Chenlie’s gaze toward her carried a trace of intrigue, and when he spoke, it was in a mature and calculated probing manner. "These past weeks of living together, would you say it’s been pleasant?"

Wen Ran was momentarily stunned before responding, "Why do you suddenly ask this?"

His thin lips curved into a smile, and his deep eyes carried a hidden meaning. "What if I said that the agreement is null and void, and a year from now, we won’t divorce? Instead, we’ll just live out our days like this, in a slow and steady way. What would you think?"
