My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 314: Falling for Her?!
Chapter 314: Chapter 314: Falling for Her?!
Wen Ran listened to his words, her heart inexplicably trembling.
Loyal to her?
Could Fu Chenlie really like her?!
Ding—
The elevator reached the top floor.
As the elevator doors slowly opened, Fu Chenlie turned around and gracefully walked out.
Wen Ran stared at his back, her heartbeat still racing, as though a small stone had been thrown into a calm lake, rippling endlessly, refusing to return to tranquility even after a long time.
Not until she entered the driver’s lounge did the waves in her heart finally start to settle down.
Being around Fu Chenlie all day had made it harder and harder for her to control the illicit thoughts she had about him—a terribly dangerous thing to let happen.
Wen Ran sat down on a chair and began searching for the ring she had left on the desk yesterday.
She casually moved the book placed to the left, as she remembered that she had left the ring somewhere around that spot yesterday. Unfortunately, though she lifted all the books, the ring still didn’t appear before her eyes.
After organizing the entire desk, there was still no sign of the ring. Only then did Wen Ran realize—
The ring might be lost!
As this thought crossed her mind, she felt an overwhelming wave of unease.
That was the ring Fu Chenlie had given her, part of a matching set. Not to mention the diamond in it, which made it quite expensive. If it was truly gone, what was she supposed to do?
The worry made her feel on the verge of tears, and she regretted taking the ring off in a fit of temper yesterday.
But no matter how much she regretted it now, it was of no use.
The whole day at work, Wen Ran felt listless. Every time she thought about the ring, she would turn over her desk and drawers again.
No matter how many times she searched, it was all in vain.
The ring was most likely lost.
Should she tell Fu Chenlie about this?
...
After work in the evening, Wen Ran, still low-spirited, followed Fu Chenlie onto the elevator. Together, they returned to the Huan Island Villa.
From arriving home to having dinner, and even after dinner, when they went upstairs, she carried the same heavy-hearted demeanor. It wasn’t until she finally entered her room and pressed the switch that she realized the bedroom light wasn’t working—it had been broken ever since the night of her argument with Fu Chenlie.
She stepped out of the bedroom and saw Fu Chenlie just about to enter his study. She called out, "Hubby—"
He turned his head upon hearing her. "What’s wrong?"
Wen Ran walked up to his side, tilted her head up to look at him, and said with a cheeky smile, "My bedroom light is broken. Do you know how to fix it? Could you help me fix it?"
Instead of answering, he asked in return, "When did it break?"
"The day before yesterday," she replied.
"So, for the past two nights, you’ve been sleeping in the dark?"
She touched her ear uneasily and giggled, "...Not quite. The bathroom light wasn’t broken, and the desk lamp still works, though the lighting isn’t very bright."
Fu Chenlie glanced at her from head to toe but didn’t expose her lies.
It wasn’t hard to figure out: two nights ago, she had insisted she wouldn’t talk to him unless he apologized and ended up sleeping in the dark out of sheer stubbornness. Last night, the darkness had been due to the kissing that stirred both of them, leaving her too shy to approach him afterward. Tonight, with everything calm again, she finally came to ask.
He had to admit—this woman knew how to choose her moment.
Fu Chenlie walked toward the staircase.
As he prepared to go downstairs, Wen Ran’s voice sounded from behind him, "Aren’t you supposed to fix my light? Why are you heading downstairs?"
In a deep voice, the man replied, "I’m a normal person, not a magician."
"Huh?" Wen Ran was completely baffled by his words.
Until Fu Chenlie asked again, "Don’t I need tools to fix a light?"
