Chapter 313: What, are you jealous?
Chapter 313: Chapter 313: What, are you jealous?
Fu Chenlie glanced at her lightly, noticing that she seemed a little upset. Only then did he realize that his earlier words had been hurtful.
Over the past period of interaction and getting to know each other, he had already changed his perception of "Wen Ran loving money."
Earlier, he had been abrupt.
The man remained silent and didn’t say anything further.
Twenty minutes later, the car drove into the underground parking lot.
When Wen Ran got out of the car, carrying her bag, her phone rang, displaying the caller as "Liu Jing."
She cast an ambiguous glance at Fu Chenlie before answering.
As soon as the phone was held to her ear, Liu Jing’s voice came through first: "Wen Ran, the three-day deal needs to be extended by a few days until this Saturday. By midnight this Saturday, I’ll make sure I end up in Mr. Fu’s bed."
Wen Ran: "..."
Does Liu Jing have some sort of mental illness?
She recalled Fu Chenlie’s words to Liu Jing yesterday—
"Ms. Liu, forgive my bluntness, but whether it’s your figure or looks, personality or character, you can’t compare to my wife in any aspect!"
Initially, Wen Ran thought that Fu Chenlie had made things clear to this extent and Liu Jing would show some restraint. Wen Ran had also assumed the bet was over. But she never expected Liu Jing was still clinging to the idea of being slept with.
She didn’t even know how to respond anymore.
"What? You don’t want to give me a few more days?"
"Whatever."
Throwing out those three words, Wen Ran hung up the phone.
Fu Chenlie walked over to her side: "Who called?"
"Liu Jing. She told me she’s planning for you to sleep with her this Saturday."
"So, you’re upset now?"
Wen Ran didn’t respond.
He pressed further: "Do you really think I’d touch her?"
She fixated her gaze on him, choosing instead to counter-question: "What did you tell her yesterday that made her so certain you’d sleep with her?"
He sneered softly: "What I said, didn’t you hear all of it? I was praising you—there’s nothing about her that can compare to you. Why she has such an absurd level of confidence is beyond my comprehension."
Wen Ran felt that his words sounded reasonably pleasing and secretly felt a hint of joy deep down.
But then something else crossed her mind, and she stared at the man intently before asking, "What did you say to her yesterday after I got in the car?"
"I invited her to attend the celebration banquet on Saturday."
Wen Ran let out a casual "Oh": "So it seems you don’t dislike Liu Jing as much as you claim. You even invited her to a banquet."
He chuckled lightly: "What? Are you jealous?"
"What right do I have to be jealous?" She threw the rhetorical question back at him and then stepped toward the elevator.
Fu Chenlie followed, the corners of his mouth subtly carrying a restrained smile.
When the two entered the elevator, he turned to her, his gaze openly and unabashedly falling upon her, surveying her thoroughly.
Wen Ran’s expression turned slightly uncomfortable: "What are you looking at?"
He didn’t reply, but the hint of a smile at his lips grew deeper. He continued moving closer to her until she was pressed into the corner of the elevator.
She felt a bit intimidated: "What are you doing?"
The man looked down at her from above, his tone low: "You have every right to be jealous."
Wen Ran’s expression was one of puzzled astonishment.
Half a lifetime had passed, and he was still answering her earlier question?
Fu Chenlie’s strikingly handsome face loomed closer before her, and he solemnly reiterated: "You’re my wife—you absolutely have the right to be jealous. And if you don’t want her around, just say the word, and I’ll make that Liu person leave Jiang City immediately. What do you think?"
"No... no need for that. I don’t hate her that much, just find her a bit annoying."
"Alright, then let’s just ignore her."
Us?
Hearing those two words, Wen Ran unexpectedly felt an inexplicable surge of joy.
He raised his hand and gently brushed her hair, his deep, magnetic voice resonating: "Mrs. Fu, rest assured. I will remain loyal to you and will never touch any other woman besides you."
