Chapter 125: Chapter 125 Awesome
"If you don’t like it, you can return it to me."
He lifted his eyes and stared at her, asking, "How much was it?"
How much was it?
The original price was over five hundred, but there was a discount on the official website, so it was just over three hundred.
Three hundred plus dollars must be nothing in Fu Chenlie’s eyes, right?
Wen Ran thought that if she told him she bought him a gift for just over 300 dollars, he would definitely accuse her of being perfunctory or think she was treating him like a beggar, and mock her harshly.
She didn’t give him a price, and said leisurely, "A lighter is just for smoking, isn’t it? As long as it works, why do you care how much it costs?"
Fu Chenlie did not speak.
However, he raised his hand and pulled out a different lighter from his trouser pocket.
The man leaned forward, resting his right elbow on his knee, eyes fixated on her face, and with a flick of his thumb, he smoothly flipped open the lighter’s lid, pressing down on the gears with the pad of his finger as his hand returned to position.
With a whoosh, a flame erupted.
Just as Wen Ran was puzzling over what his actions meant, she heard him say, "This lighter in my hand cost seventy thousand..."
"Seventy thousand?"
Her eyes widened with sudden worry, and she quickly spoke up, "A lighter for seventy thousand? Honey, did you get scammed?"
Fu Chenlie scoffed lightly and added, "Seventy thousand US dollars."
Wen Ran was speechless.
Madman!
Under Wen Ran’s stunned gaze, he slowly explained, "This is a Faberge yellow enamel lighter, handcrafted in 1900 by the master Vladimir Solovyov. Even if you had seventy thousand US dollars now, you wouldn’t be able to buy it."
Although it sounded extremely impressive.
Yet, Wen Ran didn’t understand.
She sighed in relief, pursing her lips as she stared at him, "Then with such an expensive lighter already, the one I gave seems really unsuitable for you, doesn’t it? How about you give it back to me?"
As she finished speaking, Wen Ran extended her hand.
Fu Chenlie reconsidered and sank back into the sofa, lounging casually. His thin lips uttered two words, "Not returning."
"Why not?"
"Didn’t you say? It’s a gift."
Wen Ran countered, "But you already have a seventy thousand US dollar lighter, what do you need my few hundred dollar one for?"
He smiled with a curl of his lips, "Though it’s a bit cheap, I won’t deny, it still works to light a cigarette."
Wen Ran was speechless.
So why tell her that his currently used lighter was worth seventy thousand US dollars and was priceless, if not just to belittle her gift and mock what she had given?
This man really must be sick in the head.
Wen Ran didn’t know how she should feel right now.
Sitting blankly on the sofa, she just... suddenly felt so listless.
Fu Chenlie really was rich, and she really was poor.
Comparing people really did kill.
As he watched her look of utter despondency, he fiddled with the lighter and started a new topic, "I just helped you out at a dinner last night, and the lighter arrived today. Where was it shipped from, the logistics are so fast?"
Wen Ran instantly snapped back to reality.
Looking at Fu Chenlie, she wondered if his focus was too comprehensive.
So many questions?!
Seeing that she just stared blankly without responding, the man pressed further, "Wen Ran, you didn’t buy this lighter yesterday, did you?"
"Does it matter when I bought it? You accepted it, and that’s enough."
"That’s not something you can say."
Wen Ran countered without thinking, "Why not?"
Fu Chenlie’s eyes darkened, and as his thin lips parted, there was a hint of danger, "If you were using a gift originally intended for another man to placate me, what do you think I would do?"
