Chapter 186: 66. Goodbye, old times of Cardman City【6/60】_2

Please note, this advanced scouting spell can be disturbed by complex psychic environments.

Requirement: learning this skill requires a thought ≥12

Item Description:

[This psychic spell is a special variant of the ’Wilderness Sentinel’ skill of the Elf Ranger. Its greatest advantage is that, after Lady Cui Si’s improvement, the chance of this spell being detected is greatly reduced, thereby effectively enhancing the user’s safety.

But you’d better not ask Lady Cui Si in detail where she learned this alien spell, this is related to an experience from her youth.]

"You need a thought of 12 to learn it?"

Lumina glanced at her own character interface. Although her thought value was full at 8 points, according to the explanation of the game’s power rank, she not only had to complete the Black Iron Trial, but also had to add those precious free attribute points to her thought after upgrading her rank to meet the learning conditions.

But wouldn’t that mess up her career plan?

"Do you have any other concerns?"

Seeing the worry of the young player, Lady Cui Si casually asked.

Lumina expressed her thoughts through the translation function. Upon hearing that she didn’t want to give up her shooting specialty, didn’t want to give up the secret swordsmanship of the elves, and wanted to learn the psychic spells of the elves, Lady Cui Si immediately showed a helpless expression.

What’s wrong with this child?

Was her brain severely kicked by a star realm bull? The result of wanting everything on the path of power is often a lack of specialization, and no amount of talent can withstand your such disturbance!

However, she still exerted a bit of "elderly wisdom" for the sake of little Mo Fei, and gave Lumina some advice:

"Based on your requirements, the most suitable profession I can think of for you is probably a ’Bard’.

This is from the orthodox elf heritage, nothing stands out but it is a typical jack of all trades. Although human bards always seem a bit unorthodox, but if you can find someone willing to teach you these skills, you might get what you wish for.

However, child, I advise you not to give up the path of psychic or ranger.

Your talent may be more suitable for this."

"Thank you for your advice, ma’am."

Lumina suddenly realized, she immediately took out a few bottles of fine wine from her bag that she had just scavenged, making Lady Cui Si smile, and her impression of this clever and sensible little girl was even better, she even reminded her again:

"I remember there was always a vibrant old lady in the ’Blood Tooth’ pub in the inner city. She seems to have visited the elven territories in her youth and sung a good song.

She could very well be a disguised bard, but that was over a hundred years ago.

If you could find her relics or notes, you might find some clues."

Lumina quickly noted this information in her player interface. This time she truly understood the importance of "goodwill" in this game and gained a key piece of information because of it.

In the past few days, she has been collecting various wines as gifts for Cui Si during her scavenging. It seems that her efforts were not in vain.

But the inner city...

It’s still covered in star realm energy, isn’t it? I guess I’ll have to wait for the outer city of Cardman City to be reclaimed before a new map is opened?

Lumina left, full of rewards, intending to take another turn in the city.

After she left, Cui Si was drinking wine and waiting until Murphy and the Miss, along with Maxim and Adel, escorted three carriages quietly out of the city.

"Got it?"

Cui Si asked, and Murphy nodded, patting the carriage beside him, saying:

"We safely retrieved the three underground cores of the ’Nocturne Psychic Barrier’, you should check their status."

"No need."

Cui Si lazily waved her hand and said:

"Something of that level only has two states, as long as it’s not broken, it’s not bad. After all, strategic psychic items are not as fragile as you think. Now that we have this item in hand, are we going to burn the city next?"

"Hmm."

Murphy nodded and said:

"In the next two days, the militiamen from the survivor’s camp will gradually burn the city area with kerosene, eventually pushing forward to the location of the Star Realm Rift to confirm the new boundary. The hard to reach places along the edge of the outer city ruins will be ’air-dropped’ by the Miss and Adel.

Only when all those shadows are burned can this place truly belong to us.

Also, the dire situation you predicted earlier has already happened. According to my warriors’ reconnaissance of the sewer area, hordes of ghouls and their ’cousins’, the water ghouls, have emerged under the ruins..."

"The death psychic power in Transylvania doesn’t gather, yet the conversion rate seems frightfully fast, don’t you think?"

"Fast? I think it’s slow."

Lady Cui Si huffed, putting on the appropriately haughty expression of a Spiritual Overlord as she said:

"The psychic energy of the material world comes filtered through the Star Realm. Pursuing further divisions is pointless in the face of these raging energy sources, as they inherently possess the common characteristics of all psychic energies.

The appearance of ghouls is just the first step; even more troublesome will be the resentful spirits that will follow.

After burning away the City’s surface of Star Realm Shadows, we should deal with these spectral creatures next.

However, it seems your warriors have implemented some special management strategies in the camp. I heard them heatedly discussing something about a ’big pot meal’ today..."

Lady Cui Si was a bit concerned, knowing the intricacies of the small players, she asked:

"Is it really okay to leave them be like this?"

"If it’s a method proven effective, then we have no need to worry."

Mo Fei subtly reassured Lady Cui Si.

She was slightly taken aback by his response but it didn’t take long for her to realize that Mo Fei was outlying that the warriors might be utilizing management methods from Another World.

She nodded, deciding not to ask further.

---

"Battle Group Leader! Something has happened in Cardman City!"

Two hours after nightfall, within the temporary camp of the Witch Hunters, a white oak scout hurried in Old Feinock’s tent and loudly declared to him. Old Feinock, who was meticulously polishing his sacred oak blade:

"There’s firelight rising from the ruins!

Its glow even pierced through the shroud of the Star Realm Shadows, rendering it visible from our observation post. We suspect there has been an incident in the city causing the whole city to be aflame.

Perhaps a conflict broke out between that peculiar vampire and the oppressed civilians?"

"Hmm?"

The elder knight, dressed in only a robe, lifted his head in surprise.

With the sacred blade strapped to his back, he briskly followed the Scout to a high point outside the camp. He then took out his long-range surveillance telescope and looked toward Cardman City.

The burning flame was incredibly bright in the black of night.

However, Feinock, a seasoned warrior, was able to discern that it wasn’t the light of an entire city aflame. He was quite familiar with such affairs, due to his experience in similar incidents throughout his life on the battlefield.

And not just once.

"No! The intensity of the flame is too small and inconsistent. It’s not more than a small city block that’s been set on fire. This is a deliberately planned arson."

The old knight put the telescope down and spoke solemnly:

"It appears they’re using fire to combat the overflowing Star Realm Shadows. Without specialized Psychic cleansers, this is a commendable substitute.

However, the fact that vampires are using fire is beyond my imagination.

I recall that using fire to purify contamination and darkness is an ancient tradition of the peasants in the Transylvania region, isn’t it?"

"Yes, Battle Group Leader. Similar customs do exist in this area, reportedly these were methods summarized long ago during their ancestors’ fight against vampires."

A scout who was somewhat familiar with local customs responded:

"This method can’t be criticized, as fire can indeed be used in many exorcism rituals. But are we just going to let those vampires reclaim their city? Maybe we should launch a surprise attack?

From what we know currently, under your leadership, the vampires won’t be able to stop us!"

"It’s time to move, but not to attack."

Old Feinock shook his head and spoke with a grave voice:

"The vampires and their Blood Servants cannot escape our grasp! The Star Realm Rift will close tomorrow and that’s when we’ll make our move.

But remember our mission, hunters.

The few scattered vampires and their Blood Servants are of no importance, confirming the death of Salockdale and the destruction of Blood Vulture is the key!

I know that by now many of you who have survived the war may have blood on your hands, but if I indeed discover that you can’t control the destructive desires within your hearts and turn your blades toward these survivors, don’t blame me for not being lenient!"
