Chapter 1448: 488. Exhibition hall... Why not just say it’s a zoo?

"Phew, that’s the flavor!"

In the slowly descending elevator, Murphy leaned against the elevator cabin wall just like an off-duty office drone, pouring the soda in his hand into his mouth.

Although cherry pepper-flavored soda sounds like the pinnacle of culinary disasters, the actual taste upon entering his mouth wasn’t as bad as Murphy had anticipated.

Especially the sensation of the bubbles bursting in his mouth, it instantly pulled him back to the carefree days of slacking off.

As Murphy was savoring the flavor with pursed lips, a text prompt flashed swiftly into his semi-transparent character card:

"Drinking the [Data Deleted] leisure soda, unknown alchemical substance taking effect...

New talent extracted as [Elementary Subspace Resistance: When directly facing subspace contamination, you get +5 to your willpower saving throws.]

New talent extracted as [Elementary Subspace Detection: Allows you to more keenly perceive the traces and carriers of subspace contamination, but be warned! When you see them, they see you too.]"

"Cool!"

Murphy blinked at the two prompts in front of him.

To be honest, he didn’t believe that these two enhancements had been given out randomly. If the Enemy of the Creator came from subspace, then it’s highly probable that all snacks placed by the Creator in that vending machine would carry similar enhancements.

This vending machine was after all His "gift" to Murphy.

The so-called "leisure snacks" were nothing but a ruse, the true intention being to enhance Administrator Alpha’s resistance against subspace forces through such means.

"Um, even though you quite casually stuffed this system into my brain without a proper tutorial, causing me to spend a whole month to unpack it; even though you threw me into another world without giving me any awesome Golden Finger to save my life.

And even though you irresponsibly scattered your gifts to me all around, causing some to even fall into the hands of Heretics...

I still have to say, you’re a good Creator!

At least you’re not as terrible as I thought. Before kicking me into subspace to desperately fight those perverted extraterrestrial beings, you still knew to give me a BUFF."

Murphy said to himself in his mind, and took another sip of the soda.

Unfortunately, this time there were no new enhancements popping up, it seemed they only worked upon first use.

He poured the remaining half-can into a crystal bottle and corked it, planning to have Triss try it out later when he exited, to see if his lady could obtain the same subspace enhancements as him.

After all, given Triss’ current state, she needed this kind of resistance and awareness against subspace powers even more than he did.

"Ding"

The elevator silently opened after its descent.

Murphy didn’t know how deep underground this thing had taken him, but he guessed this was definitely not a place just anyone could access.

Thus, with a sense of "pilgrimage," Murphy stepped out of the elevator, only to see an operational surveillance room right in front of the corridor at the other end of the elevator space.

A highly complex surveillance system made up an entire wall, with many monitors; however, only three were active.

Murphy walked over, and he could see the first monitor was overseeing the visitor’s hall.

The Spiritual Energy-weakened Triss, a vampire, had gotten up from her seat wearing a breathing mask and was curiously yet clumsily inspecting all the facilities in the visitor’s hall under the guidance of the Iron Beetle.

The second monitor projected an overhead view of the Swamp Forbidden Area.

Below it was a control stick, which Murphy adjusted and discovered the Forbidden Area was divided into sections A, B, C, and D. Apart from section A, which was silent, each of the other three sections was home to two Swamp Giant Snakes.

But they all seemed to be safely asleep in their nests, as if in some hibernation state, and the snake currently lying in the Ze Town ruins and receiving rescue likely used to be the "resident" of section A.

Murphy nodded then turned his attention to the third monitor.

This one was special.

The area it monitored didn’t seem to be within the swamp; it was a vast all-white cubic space with many cages placed inside, but without exception, all the cages showed signs of damage.

In the center of that space, there was an immensely large skeleton.

Unknown what animal it belonged to, it clearly had been dead for a very long time, its body was a skeleton as if it had turned into a dinosaur fossil.

Murphy manipulated the control stick below this monitor, but no matter how much he adjusted it, he couldn’t find any living creature in that special space.

If that place was a cage, it certainly had lost all its purpose by now.

All its "prisoners" had escaped.

Aside from these three monitors, other monitors remained inoperative, perhaps because Murphy didn’t have the management authority for this "exhibition area."

But soon, Murphy found the data console he was looking for in the corner of the surveillance room.

He restored the Omnificent Device to its initial form of a metallic cube, and placed it in the recess of the data console, then inserted his finger into a hole on the other side.

When he first got the Omnificent Device, it prompted Murphy that he needed to complete a DNA check and consciousness binding in the Land of the Creator, and currently, a drop of his blood was needed to complete the last step of the process.

But before activating the data console, Murphy keenly noticed other people’s "traces" left here.

For example, in the rest area behind the surveillance room, a bowl of indescribably ugly porridge, a bag of chips that had been opened but not finished, and some dirty clothes piled up in a "washing machine" were all placed on the table.
