Chapter 733: The Movement of Monsters

"What did you say? How is that possible?" Athena gasped, stunned by her words.

Leon, who had been declared dead, was still alive?

"Did Liliana discover his whereabouts?" She wondered silently, her heart racing.

As if reading her thoughts, Liliana, whose image flickered within the crystal orb, shook her head and said, "You’re wrong. I didn’t find him. I only found out because the mark that connects me to Leon reappeared. That’s how I knew."

"The mark?" Athena was taken aback, then recalled something from the past. A moment later, she exhaled in relief, her body finally relaxing.

"Thank goodness," she whispered, a faint smile forming on her lips.

With this news, the tightness in her chest eased, and the anxious weight she’d been carrying lifted at last.

Seeing that smile, Liliana fell silent. In her entire life, she had only seen Athena wearing cold, bitter expressions.

It was the first time she had seen her smile so genuinely—and it subtly changed her perception of her.

"So," Liliana said in a casual tone, "are you going to withdraw your forces or keep searching?"

Athena fell silent for a moment, then took a deep breath and straightened her posture.

"I’ll withdraw my forces," she replied firmly.

Now that she knew Leon was alive and safe, the search no longer mattered.

Liliana gave a small nod. "I thought so too. Let’s inform the others and pull back the troops."

"Alright," Athena agreed without hesitation.

With that, the connection between them ended, and Athena rose to her feet, her face glowing with joy.

"I have to tell the Ancestor," she murmured to herself.

Her ancestor had also been involved in the search for Leon over the past two months. He had mobilized his elite forces and had been just as worried as she was.

However, just as Athena was about to head for the door, someone suddenly burst in—panting, wide-eyed, and visibly panicked.

It was a beautiful blue-haired woman with slightly pointed ears.

"Regina?" Athena’s brows knit in surprise. "What happened to you? Why did you barge into my study so suddenly?"

The woman before her was none other than Regina, the commander of the Blue Dragon Legion. As a high-ranking military leader, she held considerable power and influence within the palace.

Yet to Athena’s memory, Regina was always composed and well-mannered—never reckless like this.

Regina raised her head, her expression filled with guilt and worry.

"Forgive me, Empress," she said, her voice trembling with shame. "I bring urgent news."

"Urgent news?" Athena’s demeanor turned serious. "What is it? Speak."

Regina straightened her posture and reported nervously, "Just now, our intelligence network detected large-scale movements coming from Mount Valdrak and the Thalzen Forest. A massive monster wave is expected to strike soon!"

Upon hearing the report, Athena’s eyes widened slightly—but only for a moment.

She crossed her arms over her ample chest and asked, "Are you certain this information is accurate?"

"I am one hundred percent certain, Empress," Regina replied firmly.

Athena fell silent, her mind drifting into deep thought. Mount Valdrak and the Thalzen Forest lie to the south and north of the Dragon Empire, respectively.

Both regions were infamous for being perilous, teeming with ancient monsters from bygone eras.

Compared to the Holy Orthodox region, Mount Valdrak and the Thalzen Forest were similar to the Forest of Eternal Silence—except the monsters in those areas were far more terrifying and powerful.

Over the years, waves of monster attacks had frequently targeted nearby cities, but they were always successfully contained.

So why now? Why were the monsters suddenly surging in such massive numbers?

"Could this be related to the nearing resurrection of the Evil God?"

The thought crossed her mind—and somehow, it felt plausible.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she gave the order, "Mobilize the entire Blue Legion and prepare for the attack. Also, send requests for backup from the other dragon legions. Do it now."

Regina bowed and replied, "As you command, Empress!"

Without delay, she turned and swiftly left the study.

Watching her retreating figure, Athena softly shook her head, then turned to gaze out the large window beside her.

Her eyes fixed on the clear sky beyond as she murmured, "Time keeps moving... and the age of chaos, where all things are swallowed by destruction, is drawing near..."

...

"I’m so tired," Liliana murmured as she stretched her body.

Her slender yet voluptuous figure—particularly around the chest and hips—could easily cause any man to have a nosebleed.

Adding to that, her face radiated a mixture of aloofness, coldness, and unexpected gentleness—a blend that was both captivating and dangerously seductive.

Unfortunately, there was no one around to appreciate the view; she was alone in her study.

Once she’d loosened up enough, she turned her attention back to the stack of documents on her desk.

"Alright, let’s finish this quickly, then I can play with the kids," she said softly.

But before she could even touch a single sheet, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from outside.

Moments later, Lyra entered, her face marked with rare anxiety.

"Lyra?" Liliana blinked in surprise, a puzzled look on her face. "What’s wrong? You look unusually tense."

Suddenly, a playful thought crossed her mind, and she teased, "Don’t tell me a horde of powerful monsters is invading Demon territory? Pfft! I’m just kidding. That would never hap—"

Before she could finish, Lyra’s eyes widened, and she interrupted, "How did you know?"

Liliana’s laughter died in her throat. Her expression stiffened, and her eyes widened.

"What do you mean?" She asked, her voice suddenly low and serious.

Lyra remained silent for a moment before speaking.

"First, I apologize for my abrupt entrance, Your Majesty. I’ve just received a report from our troops stationed near the border of the Desert of Chaos. Strange monsters have suddenly appeared and are now advancing toward Demon territory."

Her words hit Liliana like a bolt of lightning. She immediately rose to her feet and asked cautiously, "Do you know what caused it?"

Lyra shook her head slightly. "No, Your Majesty. But according to the soldiers, there was a sudden explosion of black aura in the distance just before the monsters appeared. Many believe that was the cause."

Liliana opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again, her gaze falling as she sank into thought.

"Could it be the Evil God? But... isn’t his return still five to seven years away?" She wondered silently.

Her thoughts drifted to a letter she had once read—a grim account of strange, unkillable monsters that had appeared during the great war between mankind and the demon race.

Perhaps... these were the same creatures.

Pushing aside her doubts, she lifted her head and looked firmly at Lyra.

"Summon all the arch-demons to the throne room. Tell them an emergency meeting is about to begin!" She commanded.
