My ‘Healing’ Game
Chapter 318: This is my fourth hour (4000) as a Security Guard at Death Building

Chapter 318: Chapter 318: This is my fourth hour (4000) as a Security Guard at Death Building

The tone, laced with resentment and a hint of confusion, was so cold that just listening to her voice made one feel enshrouded in chilliness.

"Why is it a woman’s voice? There are no female security guards in the community..." Brother Hua stood frozen, plummeting from Heaven to Hell in the blink of an eye.

Han Fei would not tell Brother Hua that, in a moment of urgency, he had stuffed the security walkie-talkie into Red Skirt’s grasp. However, as a responsible security guard, he naturally assumed the responsibility, "Give me the walkie-talkie."

After receiving the walkie-talkie, Han Fei placed it naturally to his mouth, "I know who hurt you the most, and I won’t offer empty words of sympathy or promises of care. I only want the person who hurt you the most to suffer soul scattering! No, even that’s too kind; we must repay the pain you’ve endured double-fold."

Watching Han Fei and hearing his tone was like listening to someone talking to a friend on the phone.

Brother Hua and Xiaofang really wanted to ask if the woman on the other end of the walkie-talkie was an acquaintance of his.

The rustling sound of static filled his ears, as Han Fei spoke again, "Let me emphasize again, I absolutely did not abandon you. Tell me your location, I’ll come for you now."

After a long while, amidst the jarring static, the woman’s voice sounded again.

"Come for me?"

Red Skirt had been sent away countless times, but this was the first time someone offered to come for her, "I’ve been torn into pieces, some on the twenty-third floor, some on the twenty-fourth."

"Received, wait for me!"

Han Fei hung up the walkie-talkie and entered the security room with Brother Hua and Xiaofang.

Before the three security guards started their patrol, the inside of the building was quiet, not too different from an ordinary community, only a bit more sinister.

After their nocturnal patrol, the entire building was engulfed in a bloody hue, each floor in complete disarray. The top and bottom of the building were nearly punctured through, the structure shook continuously, stirring the outside mist as if an earthquake had struck.

"A flawless completion of my first patrol in life," Han Fei picked up the patrol form from the wall, utilizing his excellent memory to record all the damaged equipment and the anomalies inside the building.

Brother Hua and Xiaofang stood dumbly within the shaking Building One, watching Han Fei hunched over the blood-stained desk, writing fervently.

To those aware, he was filling out a patrol form. To those unaware, it probably looked like he was desperately trying to leave behind a will.

After completing the form, Han Fei still hadn’t heard the system’s voice. Anxious, he scrutinized the form, finally noticing the section for the patrol security guards’ signatures.

Do all three security guards need to sign before it counts? What if one of the guards dies during patrol? Would that mean I could never complete this mission?"

With a try-it-and-see attitude, Han Fei let both Xiaofang and Brother Hua sign their names. As Brother Hua finished the last stroke of his name, Han Fei finally received the task completion prompt!

"Attention Player 0000! You have completed the F-rank hidden task ’Night Patrol’! You successfully completed your first patrol in life with the accompaniment of two senior colleagues!"

"In our lives, we encounter countless firsts. It is the continual pursuit of new experiences that makes our lives colorful and vibrant."

"Hidden task completion rate: 20%. You have gained the recognition of two colleagues, but the owners seem to have some complaints about you. You receive a basic reward of three Skill Points and the Death Building Security Set (unattributed basic attire)."

"Due to the low hidden task completion rate, owners hold a slight grudge, preventing the unlock of the unique Hidden Profession of the Hidden Map—Death Building Security Guard."

"Attention! If you can gain the recognition of all the owners in Building One within three days, you will directly obtain the Hidden Profession—Death Building Security Guard!"

Han Fei heaved a long sigh of relief upon hearing the system’s prompt. He slumped onto the sofa, letting the building shake wildly, but his eyes were only focused on the exit button that had just lit up on the Attribute Panel.

Rewards and such could be sought after later, as long as he could exit the game for now.

"If I can gain the recognition of all the Owners within three days, can I directly unlock a new Hidden Profession?" The Hidden Profession of Midnight Butcher had given Han Fei a great deal of help. If he could gain another Hidden Profession, even just as a part-time role, it would bring many benefits to Han Fei.

"Gaining all the Owners’ recognition can be difficult or simple. In any case, after three days, I just need to find a way to keep the Owners who recognize me."

Picking up the walkie-talkie, Han Fei stood up again, an air of confidence radiating from him.

"Brother Hua, Xiaofang, you two stay put in your room. I’m going out to fulfill a promise."

"You’re going out now? With all the ghosts and monsters out there, aren’t you just serving yourself up on a plate?" Brother Hua truly couldn’t understand Han Fei. Han Fei had been the fastest to run just before, but now he was going out again.

"I went back to the security room to create a safe passage for you two. Now that you’re safe, it’s time for me to do something else." Han Fei shook the walkie-talkie in his hand: "Do you know whose voice that was just now?"

Brother Hua and Xiaofang both shook their heads; it was the first time they had heard that voice through the walkie-talkie.

"It was Red Skirt speaking to us, we can’t just abandon her outside alone."

"That Red Skirt that can’t be thrown away or destroyed?" Brother Hua stared at the walkie-talkie in Han Fei’s hand, while Xiaofang silently took out his own and tossed it to the doorstep.

"Exactly, she saved us. We can’t leave her behind; we have to have principles." Han Fei picked up the walkie-talkie and once again checked that the exit button was still lit up, then he decisively opened the door to the security room.

The stench of blood wafted into the room instantly. Upon hearing the noise, several footsteps stirred in the corridor. The Death Building had never been as chaotic as it was today.

"I don’t know if I can bring her back, but if I don’t return after twenty-four hours, it’s likely that something bad has happened..." Han Fei’s last glance was towards the two security guards in the room: "Stay here and don’t wander around. After I leave, you must be careful."

The footsteps from downstairs grew more hurried. Han Fei shut the door to the security room and resolutely made his way towards the top floor.

Chaos had spread throughout the entire building, the blood had spread, and all the Owners had gone mad. The most crucial point was that they were gradually realizing that the Manager seemed to have disappeared!

The normally suppressed pain and despair were released to an even greater extreme, and Han Fei had never seen such rancor within a single building.

Along the way, bloodstains were mottled everywhere, with torn remains of resentment and cries like those from purgatory!

At 4:14 AM, during the fourth hour since Han Fei became the Death Building Security Guard, he, clad in his blood-dyed uniform, stepping over the crusted bloodstains, arrived at the twenty-third floor.

The walls of the rooftop were completely covered with Blood Silk and Curses, but Han Fei paid them no heed. He quietly picked up pieces of Red Skirt from the ground and placed them into the pockets of his uniform.

Walking up the blood-stained stairs, Han Fei arrived at the top floor of Building One.

The Building-jumping Ghost was nowhere to be seen; only pieces of Red Skirt were left in the corridor.

Upon reaching the door to room 1244, Han Fei found his own walkie-talkie, covered by a slightly larger fragment of the skirt.

Every time Red Skirt was torn apart and then restored, she became stronger. But her recovery speed was getting slower, and the connection between the pieces of the skirt was weakening.

Large-scaled Grudges were terrifying, yet they were not without weaknesses.

"I said I’d come, and here I am."

Han Fei picked up the fragments of the red dress that were scattered like snowflakes, and it was only when he got closer that he realized the red dress wasn’t woven with threads, but with blood silk.

The edges of the fragments fused together, intertwining into even more complex and beautiful patterns.

"Even in death, those who were sunny in life remain beautiful."

Walking among the bloodstains and curses, Han Fei picked up the fragments, even the Red Skirt itself didn’t expect him to actually come back!

Red Skirt couldn’t understand at all, she had already planned to get revenge on the three security guards after she had recovered, but she never expected things to go in a different direction.

Would a living person dare to piece together the body of a large-scaled grudge on the most dangerous top floor of the Death Building? Was his courage made of stainless steel?

"Without you, us three security guards would already be dead, at least to us, you’re important, we wouldn’t just abandon you!" Han Fei used "we" on purpose because he was worried that Red Skirt would go back and directly kill the other two guards, which is why he said this.

The fragments of the dress in his hands fused back together, and at this moment, Han Fei was almost at the end of the corridor, but just then, a scream and cries suddenly came from room 1244 on the top floor.

Immediately after, the sound of limbs rapidly crawling on the ground emerged from below—the Building-jumping Ghost had sensed something and returned to the top floor!

The shattered face appeared outside the safety door, and the Building-jumping Ghost’s body had swollen many times over, her eyes filled with Death Intent as she stared at Han Fei in the hallway still picking up dress fragments. Her fingers marked with black symbols pushed open the safety door, and her enormous body was stamped with pitch-black Death Curse.

"I see you!"

"If I catch you, you will die!"

"Die! Die! Die!"

Han Fei had escaped multiple times from under the Building-jumping Ghost’s eyes. Her hatred for him had already grown so intense it was nearly tangible, even from a distance his skin could feel a stinging sensation!

Cracks appeared on the walls, all the places touched by the Building-jumping Ghost were covered with black ’death’ characters.

Seeing such a horrific Building-jumping Ghost, Han Fei patiently picked up the last piece of red dress fragment in the hallway.

The Red Skirt once again became whole, the blood silk on the hem interwoven and connected together. But for it to fully recover, it needed some time.

Han Fei and Red Skirt both knew very well that the Building-jumping Ghost, controlled by Death Intent, would never give them that time.

For Han Fei, throwing the Red Skirt at the Building-jumping Ghost now might give him a chance to escape.

The Building-jumping Ghost had come from the left corridor, and Han Fei now stood on the right side of the hallway, with just a long corridor between them.

"Actually, I just want to tell you, I have no ill intent towards you, I am a security guard inside the building, and I want to help you." After saying this, Han Fei pulled on the partially fused Red Skirt, making sure it didn’t unravel, and then wrapped the walkie-talkie into the Red Skirt.

Just as Red Skirt thought she was going to be thrown at the Building-jumping Ghost again, Han Fei placed the wrapped Red Skirt in the gap in the middle of the stair railing.

"This time I’ll stop her for you. If I’m lucky enough to survive, I hope we can be friends."

After speaking, Han Fei let go, and the Red Skirt wrapped around the walkie-talkie fell through the gap in the stair railings, a pale face emerging on it.

The resentment in her eyes slowly gave way to confusion. In this cold, evil building named for death, there was actually someone willing to sacrifice their own life for hers.

Han Fei didn’t look back at Red Skirt but reached into his item bar to take out a cigarette and slowly lit it.

The landlord’s "sons" had lit three cigarettes for him after he died; these three cigarettes were rewards Han Fei got from a mission he had taken on a long time ago. The so-called landlord must be the former Building Chief.

The three cigarettes, imbued with the landlord’s "sons’" breath, could serve as amulets.

Han Fei had used one when he first left Happiness Residential Community, and now this was the second one.

Smoke slowly drifted up, and in the falling ashes, one could faintly hear the chants of dead souls.

It seemed as though a pair of eyes opened behind Han Fei’s back, and the black mist outside the building was torn apart once more. The breath of the landlord’s sons triggered a change in the outside world, but Han Fei now didn’t care about that.

His gaze was fixed on the Building-jumping Ghost’s opening of Ghost Heart, watching the key inserted there.

If Han Fei simply wanted to survive, he could exit the game right now.

However, by doing so, he would still be unable to enter room 1244 when he logged in the game again and would still face pursuit from the Building-jumping Ghost.

To resolve the issue from its root, Han Fei had a crazy idea.

Allowing the smoke to envelop him, as the Building-jumping Ghost ran into the middle of the hallway, his eyes red, he charged full force at the Building-jumping Ghost.

"Nine-life!"

Horrific Ghost Patterns covered his body instantaneously, and Han Fei kept his eyes fixed on the Building-jumping Ghost’s opening of Ghost Heart and collided with her!

At the moment of pulling out the key, Han Fei tried to put it into his item bar. As the system voice echoed in his mind, Han Fei chose to exit the game immediately.

"Player number 0000, please note! You have successfully acquired the key to atrium number 1244!"

"Player number 0000, please note! You have been tainted with the Death Curse of atrium number 1244!"

The world solidified in red, consciousness was dragged away, the sky and earth spun around.

Suddenly opening his eyes, Han Fei took off his gaming helmet and opened the door to the Game Box.

"I did it!"

Lying on the ground, Han Fei’s mind was still extremely agitated.

On the fourth hour of his job as a Death Building Security Guard, he not only successfully exited the game but also obtained the key to the most terrifying room in Building One!

Next time he logged into the game, he could directly undertake another F-level hidden mission.

Lying dazed on the ground, Han Fei didn’t look like someone who had just played a game, but his expression was indeed very satisfied.
