Chapter 303: Chapter 303: The New Security Guard is Named Bai Sinian

"Death Curse (E-tier Hidden Task): At some point, in some prearranged way, you will die!"

"Task Requirement: Change the predetermined fate and survive."

"Due to the disparity in levels, a task hint is provided: Room 4444."

The task information in Han Fei’s brain was brief. Compared to the lengthy explanations of F-tier tasks, the E-tier task only had a few short sentences, but Han Fei didn’t dare to take it lightly.

F-tier tasks correspond to levels ten to twenty, E-tier tasks correspond to levels twenty to thirty, and Han Fei was currently only at level twelve.

If it wasn’t out of desperation, who would wish to challenge such a dangerous scenario beyond their level?

After entering the black fog, the singing didn’t cease to pursue Han Fei. However, the distance between them was gradually increasing. The black fog was like a labyrinth; everyone who entered and all the grudges would eventually end up in different places.

As Han Fei ventured deeper, he was surprised to find that the bloodstains on his security guard uniform were fading, and his memory and consciousness were starting to blur.

He remembered that the range covered by the black fog wasn’t very large, yet Han Fei felt as though he had been walking for a long time.

There was no way out, no light, no one else. The longer he stayed here, the more his memory seemed to blur, as if the black fog could alter and devour memories.

"Where is the Death Building?"

Unable to discern any direction, he could only occasionally look up to see four towering buildings piercing the clouds in the distance.

They were interconnected by multiple passageways, closely entangled with each other, radiating an intense Death Intent.

The black fog grew denser until the bloodstains on the security guard uniform had completely vanished. Suddenly, the Death Intent in the black fog boiled, as if sharp spears wanted to pierce into his body!

But at the same moment, blood-red characters started appearing on Han Fei’s skin. The story Jin Sheng had left him was triggered, and those blood characters, infused with the Death Intent of the Death Building, all burrowed into his brain.

His head felt like it was about to split open, and a voice faintly emerged in his Brain Sea, guiding him to move forward towards the future depicted in the Kaidan.

Moving his feet, Han Fei didn’t know how long he had walked through the black fog, but he finally found a pitch-black door. He reached out, opened the door, and a faint cold light shone on his face.

"Bang!"

He fell to the ground, and the needle-like pain in his Brain Sea slowly eased. Han Fei barely opened his eyes.

The parts of his neck, arms, and cheeks not covered by the security guard uniform were all wounded, continuously dripping Black Blood infused with Death Intent.

The Beast Path Mask could not prevent the invasion of the black fog, and the current Han Fei was almost unrecognizable.

Moving slightly brought pain from all over. If it wasn’t for Jin Sheng’s story’s protection, Han Fei would have been killed before he even entered the Death Building.

His brain felt heavy and foggy. Han Fei subconsciously looked at his right hand. Big Evil was nowhere to be seen, but his arm was left with sinister, blood-red patterns similar to the ones on Big Evil.

"I can’t stay here too long."

Dragging his bleeding body, Han Fei looked back and saw that right behind him was the iron gate to the corridor entrance; he was now on the first floor of the Death Building!

"If everything in the Death Building Game corresponds to the real Death Building in the Deep World, then the Wedding Dress Ghost should be in room number three on the first floor." Han Fei was about to walk forward, with his hand pressed against the wall when he suddenly heard hurried footsteps in the corridor.

"There are two people... no, three people coming this way!"

Han Fei didn’t know what was coming, but his body was covered in wounds, and even walking was difficult for him, let alone fighting.

Staring intently at the third room on the first floor, Han Fei tore open his wound, clenched his teeth, and quickened his pace.

When he reached the third room on the first floor, the footsteps had also made their way out of the corridor.

"Is anyone there?" Han Fei tried to push the door, but it wouldn’t budge, and there was no response to his knocking either.

"Who’s there! Don’t move!"

A strong flashlight beam shone on Han Fei, who raised his hand to shield his eyes, weakly leaning against door number three.

The footsteps drew closer, and Han Fei peeked through his fingers at the outside, where two people in security guard uniforms were huddling together, walking toward him very nervously.

"Security guards? Security guards in the Death Building?" His thoughts raced, and within a few seconds, Han Fei adjusted his demeanor, appearing even weaker than before.

"I warned you not to move! Where did you come from? Why are you wearing the uniform of our community’s security guards too?" The two guards stopped two meters from Han Fei, their voices loud but clearly lacking confidence.

Han Fei seemed to lack the strength to even speak; he was at death’s door, and as soon as he opened his mouth, blood slid down his lips.

"Brother Hua, he looks like he’s not going to make it," said the younger guard worriedly, about to step forward but stopped by the middle-aged guard beside him.

"Don’t go over there! The community isn’t safe now; there have been frequent disappearances, we can’t just approach these suspicious people."

"Really, we won’t help him?"

"Have you forgotten what happened on the first floor before? Do you remember what your master told you before he went missing? Never go downstairs after midnight!" the middle-aged guard clutched the younger one’s clothing, flashlight in hand, glaring at Han Fei: "There are only two of us security guards left in Building One. It’s better to be careful until the newcomer arrives to take over."

Han Fei overheard the discussion of the two guards; while barely alive, he managed to stretch out a finger, and with the black blood dripping from his wound, he wrote a few words on the ground.

"He seems to be writing something?" The young guard stepped forward again, making out the crooked text on the ground: "Don’t go out? There’s something outside..."

As he wrote further, Han Fei seemed to lose all strength, collapsing in the pool of blood, his eyes brimming with tears, and his dry, dark lips struggling to say something.

Seeing him so pitiful, Brother Hua felt a bit swayed too. He glanced at his watch, waited a few more minutes, and then decided, "Let’s bring him upstairs first!"

The young guard picked up Han Fei, and Brother Hua kept a close eye on Han Fei’s face, filled with confusion: "How did you end up inside Building One wearing a security guard uniform?"

"I... am the newcomer here to take over," said Han Fei, his voice as weak as a whisper: "There are ghosts outside, not very clear, but whenever the singing starts, someone dies..."

"Ghosts? Is Building One really haunted? Did the other security guards go missing because of a ghost?" The young guard carrying Han Fei was both shocked and afraid.

Hearing this, Han Fei too found it strange; the memory of the security guards in the Death Building seemed to have been completely altered. They had forgotten a lot and seemed to have been fed new memories.

Altering memories? Wasn’t that something the Building Chief used to do regularly?

When Han Fei had entered the black fog, his own memory had also started to blur, but luckily, the story of Jin Sheng had protected him, or he too might have ended up like these guards, injected with new memories, becoming a puppet living in the Death Building.

"Don’t talk about these things after dark!" Brother Hua said sternly, glancing at the young guard before turning to Han Fei: "What’s your name?"

"My name is Bai Sinian. Because I’m especially afraid, I stayed very far from the others, and that’s how I managed to escape this catastrophe," replied Han Fei. He almost perfectly replicated everything about Bai Sinian, from personality, tone of speech, to small behavioral habits—it was an exact match.

"Right, there’s also something I have to tell you." Han Fei looked at the empty corridor, his heart uneasily thumping: "I heard three sets of footsteps in the hallway just now, but only you two ran out of the corridor. This means something followed you down, and it should still be in the corridor now."
