Chapter 185: Chapter 185 How have you become like this?

"Bang!"

His body landed steadily on the external unit of the air conditioner, Han Fei’s back already soaked with cold sweat.

Even stunt performers rarely performed such extremely dangerous acts, not to mention Han Fei did this without any safety precautions.

"All I wanted at first was to be a comedian."

His heart thudded rapidly; Han Fei could hear Ma Manjiang’s roar above his head.

With shaky calves and the gray fog swirling around him, the cold wind piercing through his clothes, moving even a little was incredibly difficult for Han Fei now.

The old air conditioner unit creaked, seemingly unable to bear Han Fei’s weight, ready to fall off at any moment.

Han Fei had no other choice now.

Clinging to the edge of the air conditioning unit, Han Fei jumped down once again, a comedian performing feats that even stunt actors would not dare to attempt so cavalierly.

The first time he jumped, he was scared to death, almost as if his heart would stop; the second time, his body had memorized the feeling, but it still felt extremely frightening; by the third time, perhaps because he was closer to the ground, Han Fei felt it wasn’t as terrifying anymore.

Han Fei safely arrived at the first floor of the office building, Ma Manjiang’s angry roars still echoing from the fourth floor.

"I hope Ma Manjiang focuses all his hatred on me, so that Jin Sheng’s homeroom teacher has time to check the security room," Han Fei thought.

With the heavy gray fog, Han Fei, on the ground floor, could not see the scene on the fourth floor clearly; he could only rely on Ma Manjiang’s angry roars to judge its location.

Making his way to the other side of the office building, Han Fei took the opportunity of Ma Manjiang going downstairs to dart into the depth of the fog, jumping into the midst of the school’s green belt.

"The school is shrouded in gray fog, with very low visibility, which is somewhat disadvantageous for me."

Ma Manjiang, with his bulky body, would make heavy thumping sounds when running at full speed; however, if he moved slowly, the sound of his steps would become very faint.

If the enemy discovered him in advance and approached slowly, Han Fei would be completely helpless.

"I can’t wait for him to find me, nor can I stay in one place too long."

Han Fei touched the concrete wall beside him; Yimin Private Academy was surrounded by walls nearly three meters high, making it impossible to escape.

"It seems like, in Jin Sheng’s eyes, this school is like a prison, and what’s more, it’s an out-of-control prison where the inmates make the rules," Han Fei mused.

Stepping on weeds and bending over as he moved through the greenery, Han Fei’s task as Manager required him to find Jin Sheng.

Basing on Han Fei’s guess, the most likely place where Jin Sheng would appear was his own dormitory.

After all, Jin Sheng’s corpse was found in his dorm room’s closet in reality.

Unfazed by danger, just as Han Fei confirmed his next goal, he heard cursing and quarreling coming from about ten meters ahead.

"In this school, aside from the victims, the rest are all enemies; it’s better for me to avoid them," Han Fei decided.

Han Fei had barely escaped Ma Manjiang’s pursuit; he didn’t want to expose his position again, but just as he was about to take a detour, an unusual dog barking sound came from the fog ahead.

"Why is there a dog barking in Jin Sheng’s memory?" Han Fei wondered.

This unusual sound drew Han Fei’s attention, and he quietly moved forward.

The end of the greenway led to the school’s rear entrance, where several burly adults were beating a Wild Dog with clubs.

Those adults seemed to be students’ parents; they wore different clothes and looked strong, continuously uttering unsavory language.

What surprised Han Fei even more was that the adults had no noses on their faces, just a very large mouth and a single eye that took up a quarter of their faces.

From their gaping mouths came loud, piercing shouts while their one-eyed gaze failed to notice the injured Wild Dog or the blood all over the ground, reflecting only the features of their own children.

The clubs kept falling and the Wild Dog was ferocious, not knowing to dodge and charging straight at those parents and their children.

Parents protecting their own children wasn’t unusual, but gradually, Han Fei realized something was amiss. Nothing in Jin Sheng’s world was that simple.

It wasn’t until he took a few more steps forward that he could see clearly; the severely injured Wild Dog had a human face!

"Zhang Guanxing? How did he turn into this?!"

Han Fei never imagined that the Zhang Guanxing from Jin Sheng’s memory could look like this, but upon reflection, it made sense to him.

Before meeting Han Fei, Zhang Guanxing was impulsive, reckless, and suffered from an inferiority complex, unloved by anyone. Even his biological father despised him, like a stray dog with no home.

In the confrontation with the adults, the Wild Dog was at an absolute disadvantage, but despite having the chance to flee, he refused to leave and insisted on confronting the adults to the end.

The eventual result was that he got beaten badly, skin torn and flesh exposed, with the adults growing increasingly disgusted by the disobedient stray dog.

Only when the Wild Dog could no longer stand did the adults finally stop.

They dropped their clubs, wiped the blood from their hands, picked up their children’s backpacks, and, all smiles, greeted the others before walking together into the fog, apparently heading towards the administrative building.

After the parents left, Han Fei quickly ran out from the greenway, picked up the Wild Dog from the ground, and fled to the other side of the greenway.

"They were so harsh, why didn’t you run away?"

Han Fei had nothing on him to stop the bleeding, but the Wild Dog seemed to have long grown accustomed to such pain, which didn’t seem to matter much to him.

Tearing his own clothes, Han Fei wrapped the Wild Dog’s wounds as best as he could.

"When I met you in the Deep World, I knew you had a tough life, but I never imagined the real you had it even worse than I thought." Han Fei said empathetically, stroking Zhang Guanxing’s head, "At least others still resembled humans, but in Jin Sheng’s memories, you directly turned out like this."

Han Fei tried to converse with Zhang Guanxing, but although he clearly had a human face, he could only emit barks, unable to communicate or converse.

"Did Jin Sheng also tell you some things that you didn’t heed?"

Though Zhang Guanxing had become a Wild Dog, he could still distinguish who was good to him and who was bad.

When Han Fei was treating his wounds, he didn’t resist, and the fierceness in his eyes also vanished.

Maybe because he got beaten often, Zhang Guanxing’s wounds healed very quickly, and in a short while, he was up and running again.

"Apart from Jin Sheng, there are only three ’people’ who could help me in Yimin Private Academy, and now, one of them has turned into a stray dog."

As Han Fei thought about how to communicate with Zhang Guanxing, the latter seemed to have sniffed something and abruptly darted out from the bushes.

"Where are you going?"

The fog was thick, and Han Fei didn’t dare to keep too much distance from Zhang Guanxing. He followed closely behind until they reached the school’s sports field.
